o Provided weekend and afterschool Recreation programs to community for 20 years

o In addition to youth programs, activities were geared toward older youth and adults including open gym hours, recreational sports leagues and a weight room

o Gym deemed unsafe and closed in 2008

City Benefit for New Joint Use

Office area for City staff including storage for City equipment

Two first floor rooms which can be used for dance, fitness, and exercise classes

Access to common areas such as lobby, concession area and restrooms

Continued use of outside area including basketball, tennis and handball courts and lighted multipurpose fields

Project part of the Washington School Master Plan

The City’s participation in the construction and use of the Washington Middle School gym is contingent upon approval of a Conditional Use Permit (CUP).

  PUSD anticipates that construction of the gym

will begin in July, 2014 and be completed and ready for use by the following Fall, 2015.
