Accompanied by the Swing 7 band, the duo will ring in the holidays with selections from the Great American Songbook and jazz favorites, drawing on classics made famous by Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra and others. The team of John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey “are as good as it gets in any entertainment medium,” noted Stephen Holden in The New York Times. For the past nine years Pizzarelli and Molaskey have enjoyed a two-month sold out engagement at the Café Carlyle in New York City. In addition to being a bandleader and solo performer, John Pizzarelli has been a special guest on recordings for major pop names including James Taylor, Natalie Cole, Kristin Chenoweth and Dave Von Ronk, as well as many leading jazz artists like Rosemary Clooney and John’s father, guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli. Jessica Molaskey is a veteran of a dozen Broadway shows including the revival of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Sunday in the Park with George, which was nominated for nine Tony Awards. The latest album, “John Pizzarelli: Sinatra and Jobim @ 50” is bringing back American and Brazilian music made famous 50 years ago. Pizzarelli worked with Daniel Jobim, the grandson of the great Antonio Carlos Jobim to create the album. Others may know Pizzarelli and Molaskey from the radio show they co-host, “Radio Deluxe with John Pizzarelli,” a nationally syndicated program. The show takes place in their “deluxe living room high atop Lexington Avenue,” interviewing a wide range of guests.
