New/Major Revision Course Development

Co-Instructor of Record, Clemson UniversityMathematical Sciences and Bioengineering Department

MTHSC 481/BIOE451, Creative Inquiry BIOE/MTHSC F2007This creative inquiry course was co-developed with Dr. Jim Brannan of the

MTHSC department, and explores the interaction of Biology and Bioengineering with Mathematics. It is designed in a two semester recurring format, with the Fall semester being a seminar series for professors and students to present ideas at the interface between Bio and Math, and the Spring semester being formatted for independent study and research by undergraduates with interested Faculty in both disciplines.

Department of Materials Science and EngineeringCME241, Metrics Laboratory, F2008This collaborative revision to a standard course requirement for MSE and BIOE

students was undertaken to insure that the course content remained relevant to the new BIOE undergraduate majors. The Laboratory course was significantly revised to include bioengineering research relevant laboratories and topics while continuing to fulfill the primary objectives of basic sophomore level laboratory skill and measurement assessment.

Instructor of Record, Clemson University, Bioengineering DepartmentBIOE401, Bioengineering Design Theory, F2009As the primary instructor in undergraduate design for 2007-2009, I was influential

in the significant revision and reorganization of the departments design curriculum into a two semester format starting in S2009. This new course title for Bioe401 will cover the theory of design.

BIOE403 Applied Bioengineering Design, S2010This highly anticipated new course will cover the application of theory of design

in a semester-long prototyping and evolution course structure.

BIOE461, International Study in Bioengineering, “Nanotechnology in Bioengineering” SumI-2008

Founded the International Study Abroad Program in Bioengineering, organized the course content, and co-taught the program instruction in Brussels, Belgium.

BIOE451, Creative Inquiry, Adventures in Bioengineering Design, S2009, F2009, S2010

Founded a new section of Bioengineering Creative Inquiry, recruited 8 undergraduate students for S2009, organized the course content, and led the instruction of this technical elective course that investigates the development of an implant retrieval program at Clemson University.

BIOE461, International Study in Bioengineering, “Movement Science in Biomechanics” SumI-2009, SumI-2010

Successfully maintained the BioE-Brussels Study Abroad Program through its second year, and led the development of new course curriculum for 2009

in the area of movement analysis for the mostly sophomore level participants. I was primary instructor in Brussels, Belgium.
