John 9:10-40
Progression
(2Pe 3:18) But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our
Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for
ever. Amen.
(2Th 1:3) We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the
charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;
(Col 1:10) That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all
pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in
the knowledge of God;
(2Ti 3:7) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
(1Co 3:1) And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto
carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
(1Co 3:2) I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to
bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
I. Seeing Jesus as a man
(Joh 9:11) He answered and said, A man that is called
Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said
unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received
sight.
A. Some see a
healing man
B. Some see a good
man, but not
sinless
(Joh 9:24-25) Then again called they the man that was blind, and said
unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner. He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now
I see.

C. Some see a
man that follows
God
(Joh 9:31) Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of
God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
II. Seeing Jesus as a Prophet
(Joh 9:17) They say unto the blind man again, What sayest
thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a
prophet.
A. The prophet is seen by the
words he says
(Act 3:22) For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God
raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him
shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto
you.
(Act 3:23) And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which
will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the
people.
(Joh 1:1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God.
(Joh 17:17) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is
truth.
III. Seeing Jesus as the Lord
(Joh 9:35-38) Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found
him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? He answered and
said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him? And Jesus said unto him, Thou
hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee. And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
A. Some profess to see him as Lord
(Mat 7:21-23) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall
enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name
done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I
never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
(Luk 6:46-49) And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to
me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house,
and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the
flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that heareth, and doeth
not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did
beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was
great.
B. Some possess him as Lord
(Act 16:30-31) And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the
Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
(Heb 5:8-9) Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience
by the things which he suffered; And being made
perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all
them that obey him;
(Rom 6:12-16) Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield
ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield
yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members
as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye
not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto
death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
(1Jn 2:3) And hereby we do know that we know him, if we
keep his commandments.
(1Jn 2:4) He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his
commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
