    PREAMBLETeachers are duly licensedprofessionals who possesses

    dignity and reputation with high

    moral values as well as technicaland professional competence in

    the practice of their nobleprofession, and they strictly

    adhere to, observe, and practicethis set of ethical and moralprinciples, standards, and

    Article I: Scopeand Limitations

    Section 1.

    The Philippine Constitution providesthat all educational institution shall

    offer quality education for allcompetent teachers. Committed to itsfull realization, the provision of this

    Code shall apply, therefore, to allteachers in schools in the Philippines.

    Section 2.This Code covers all public and

    private school teachers in alleducational institutions at thepreschool, primary, elementary, andsecondary levels whether academic,

    vocational, special, technical, or non-formal. The term teacher shallinclude industrial arts or vocationalteachers and all other personsperforming supervisory and /or

    administrative functions in all schoolat the aforesaid levels, whether onfull time or part-time basis.

    Section 1.

    The schools are the nurseries of thefuture citizens of the state; eachteacher is a trustee of the cultural

    and educational heritage of thenation and is under obligation totransmit to learners such heritage aswell as to elevate national morality,

    promote national pride, cultivate loveof country, instill allegiance to theconstitution and for all dulyconstituted authorities, and promote

    obedience to the laws of the state.

    Every teacher or schoolofficial shall actively help

    carry out the declaredpolicies of the state, andshall take an oath to thiseffect.

    Section 1.

    Teachers shall, at all times, beimbued with the spirit of

    professional loyalty, mutualconfidence, and faith in oneanother, self-sacrifice for thecommon good, and full cooperationwith colleagues. When the bestinterest of the learners, the school,or the profession is at stake in any

    A teacher is not entitled to

    A teacher shall hold inviolate allconfidential informationconcerning associates and theschool, and shall not divulge toanyone documents which has not

    It shall be the responsibility ofevery teacher to seek correctives

    for what may appear to be anunprofessional and unethicalconduct of any associate.However, this may be done only ifthere is incontrovertible evidencefor such conduct.

    A teacher may submit to the

    proper authorities anyjustifiable criticism against anassociate, preferably in

    Any violation of any provision of this code shallbe sufficient ground for the imposition against theerring teacher of the disciplinary actionconsisting of revocation of his Certification

    of Registration and License as aProfessional Teacher, suspension from thepractice of teaching profession, orreprimand or cancellation of his

    temporary/special permit under causes specifiedin Sec. 23, Article III or R.A. No.7836, Andunder Rule 31, Article VIII, of the Rules andRegulations Implementing R.A. 7836.
