Review of Jeffrey Blydenburgh\'s Projects and Career.TRANSCRIPT
Jeffrey Blydenburgh Architect
Introduction
Excellent design can change and enrich peoples’ lives: be it places for work, play, learning, or living. In my career as an architect, I have worked to carry out this belief in all my projects.
As a designer, I believe in the power of place: I look for the new and different direction: for a solution that is based on content, not style or the look of the moment. As a facilitator, I help the client to understand and identify their needs. As a manager, I organize the project to provide the resources to answer the need--with innovation, good creative design and value.
A registered architect for over 30 years, I provide design, project management, facilitation, planning, and strategic visioning services to a broad range of private and public clients.
Since 2002 I have worked collaboratively with long time colleagues Chris Miles of Lighthouse Creative and Pete Karamitsanis of Lighthouse Adviosrs to serve a broad range of clients including Parches Cove, Chesapeake Atlantic Tampa Bay Buccs, Kitson Partners and Athlon Resorts. In addition to this team practice, I am the president of Lighthouse Leisure International, a tourism destination design and development company.
My career has ranged from sole practitioner to senior leadership positions at major architectural firms. I was with HOK for ten years and was a founding member of HOK Studio E, a design studio specializing in placemaking and entertainment design.

Introduction
Prior to joining HOK, from 1985 to 1988 I was the restoration architect for the Los Angeles Redevelopment Agency. In this position, I worked with developers to arrive at the appropriate solution for the restoration of their downtown properties. From 1977 to 1985, I was design partner with Ralph Beckman at Beckman Blydenburgh and Associates in Providence Rhode Island. I began my design career at the Research and Design Institute, also in Providence.
I have brought my creative and managment skills to a variety of notable projects include Wolfsburg, Germany Entertainment Master Plan; master plans for Eustis, Florida; Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; American Tobacco redevelopment, Durham, NC; Wiregrass Village in Wesley Chapel, Florida; Universal Citywalk in Orlando; Heron Urban Entertainment Centers in several locations across Europe; repositioning of CocoWalk in Miami; the Abu Dhabi Family Entertainment Center; the Sakhalin Casino in Russia; the Buccs Pirate Ship and Skull Island in Tampa Florida and others.
My design education began at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn in 1966. I graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1971. I received my MBA in 1996 from Washington University in St. Louis.
