SYNOPSIS
ENGINEERING DRAWING course provides the student with the basic fundamental of
engineering drawing. It emphasizes on the practical knowledge of drawing
instruments and drawing techniques that will be applied in workshop practical
activities and in Computer Aided Design courses.
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLO)
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:-
1. explain clearly the purpose and types of engineering drawing. (C2)
2. construct geometrical forms, tangent, dimensioning and tolerance,
orthographic projections, precisely auxiliary projection, isometric and
development views using various methods. (P5)
3. discuss clearly the application of engineering drawing in various industry. (A2)

SUMMARY (00 LECTURE : 30 PRACTICAL)
RTA 1.0 INTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING DRAWING (00 : 02)
The purpose and types of engineering drawing instrument and their use, the standard in engineering drawing, differentiate the various types of lines and its standard feature used in engineering drawing.
2.0 BASIC OF GEOMETRICAL DRAWING (00 : 04)
The basics of geometrical drawing, the boundary line and title box according to standard, construct and divide an angle by using engineering drawing instrument and the simple geometrical shapes with various methods.
3.0 TANGENT (00 : 04)
The method to construct tangential lines by using compass and other drawing instruments construct tangent line to a circle/curve, tangent line to two or more circle / curve, construct a circle tangential to two straight lines, the method to construct a tangential curve to two circles and the method to construct a curve tangential to an angle and construct a curve tangential to an angle.
4.0 GEOMETRIC DIMENSIONING AND TOLERANCING (GDT) (00 : 04)
The dimensioning and tolerance, the standard dimensioning for engineering drawings, the details of dimensioning, dimensioning techniques and the standard tolerance for engineering drawings
5.0 ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTION (00 : 04)
The views in orthographic projection, the types of orthographic
projection, dimension orthographic projection drawing according to standard and the relationship between dimensional drawing and working drawing.
6.0 AUXILIARY PROJECTION (00 : 04)
The relationship between orthographic and auxiliary projection, the various types of view in auxiliary projection, auxiliary projection drawing according to standard and differentiate between dimensions and drawing.
7.0 ISOMETRIC (00 : 04)
The relationship between an orthographic projection and object in 3-D form, the differences and similarities between orthographic projection and isometric view, draw isometric view according to the reference point and arrow direction on an orthographic drawing and dimension isometric view according to standard.
