It had been more than five years since Jimmy Buffett and the Coral

Reefer Band played on the stage where the parking lot party’s started,

Irvine Meadows. On Saturday, October 24th the Volcanos, Land Sharks

and Tiki Bars rolled in around 3pm and it was like the party had never

left. Our club was the PHIP host for the event and everyone stepped up

to make this an event to remember. Vikki Swanson and Debi Stephens

led the charge for the club, organizing an RV home base complete with a

drop down stage in the back. That was the perfect platform for our old

phriend Jerry Gontang, who played from the time the parking lot opened

until just before show time. The OCPHC area was jam packed with

Parrot Heads young and old looking for a good time. Our PHIP phriends

joined us from as far away as South Carolina. Jimmy Groovy even

stopped by to spend some time with the club and sing with Jerry.

Jimmy Groovy donated an autograph guitar to be raffled at the

November Phlocking. Proceeds will benefit Alzheimer’s Research.

Speaking of charities, our club raised $1,556.00 for The Wounded Warrior

Project by taking donations for “I survived the parking lot party”

lanyards, club wristbands and Cheeseburgers in Paradise prepared by our

founder A.J. It was great to see Jimmy in the OC once again.

He sounded better than ever as he delivered his 25 song set with ease.

The last song was Tin Cup Chalice and at the end of his show,

Jimmy looked out to the crowd and said,” I’ll see you all next year!”

The OCPHC will be ready once again, to Party With A Purpose!

The Stories From My Favorite Books

Still Take On Many Different Looks

and I’m Gone Again, Home Again ...

Chip Bell’s Latest Jake Sullivan Novel

Jamaica Mistaica

A Jamaican drug dealer surrenders to authorities after coming ashore in the Florida Keys and tries to bargain for his safety with a fantastic tale of lost pirate treasure and its connection to the Shower Posse drug cartel, the CIA, and more. Travel once more with Jake into the beautiful, but dangerous, Caribbean where the ghosts of pirates

beckon and adventure awaits.

Freelance photographer Alex Rutledge won't turn down an occasional crime scene shoot for the City of Key West Police Department. But when a string of murders takes his viewfinder into strangely familiar territory, Alex's mellow island lifestyle shatters. One after another, someone is killing women who have intimately crossed Alex Rutledge's path. Maybe it's a coincidence. Maybe it's a conspiracy. Or maybe he's crazy. But the connection marks Alex as the prime suspect in a case so hot it's drawn in the county sheriff, the FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. In a desperate race to save his name and his life, Alex dives into a one-man search for the dark, sweltering truth beneath a

case that's pounding toward meltdown.

Tom Corcoran’s Latest Alex Rutledge Mystery—The Mango Opera

John H. Cunningham’s Latest Buck Reilly Adventure

Maroon Rising

The fifth book in Cunningham’s acclaimed Buck Reilly Adventure Series,

which features the reluctant Key West hero in Jamaica and back in the

treasure hunting business. Fortunately for Buck, a beautiful University

professor with ancient Maroon secrets about Captain Henry Morgan’s huge

stash, missing for hundreds of years, lures him back to the chase.

The heat of Maroon Rising jumps off the page as Buck ricochets from the

pirate enclave of Port Royal, once the wickedest city on earth, to the

Blue Mountains, Golden Eye, white sand beaches and the lush Cockpit

Country of Jamaica.

Club Feature—Tom & Lana Butler Tom & Lana Butler have played for the OCPHC before and will

be playing at our December Phlocking in Newport Beach. In

1995 they formed a Vocal Harmony Classic Rock Band called

Heartland.

Tom has been a performing musician most of his life and

recorded an album with Epic Records early in his career called

Blackstone. The drummer in that band, Max Weinberg, went on

to play with Bruce Springsteen in the E Street Band and for

Conan O’Brien on his late night show. Tom plays acoustic 6

and 12 string guitars, electric guitar, bass guitar & harmonica.

Lana has been singing since she was four years old and sang in

A Capella Choir in high school. Lana has been playing bass for

18 years and holds up the bottom end of the band with a lot of

rhythm and soul. Oh, and they know some Jimmy Buffett too!
