A Golden OpportunityOver the years, the amfAR Gala Cannes has become one of the most celebrated and consistently successful charitable events in the world and the most eagerly anticipated event held during the Cannes International Film Festival.

The evening’s live auction is famous for the impromptu participation of celebrities and one-of-a-kind auction lots. Since amfAR Founding International Chairman Dame Elizabeth Taylor hosted the �rst Cinema Against AIDS in 1993 and with 2018 celebrating its 25th anniversary, these signature amfAR bene�ts have generated more than $210 million and have played a pivotal role in focusing attention on the �ght against AIDS.

� In a spectacular runway show at the 2017 event, 32 of the world’s top models showcased The Golden Age of Hollywood Collection, curated by Carine Roitfeld, which was then auctioned off in its entirety for $3 million.

� The 2017 event featured a painted 1977 Chevy Van titled Ice Cream, a work by Street Art movement pioneer Richard Hambleton in the allée of the Hôtel du Cap.

� In 2015 an intimate dinner for 12 at Andrea Bocelli’s private residence, complete with a performance by the legendary tenor, sold for more than $1 million–twice!

� Another 2015 highlight was the sale of Jeff Koons’ spectacular sculpture, “Coloring Book,” for more than $13 million.

� A stunning gilded woolly mammoth skeleton by Damien Hirst fetched a record $15 million in the 2014 live auction.

amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is dedicated to ending the global AIDS epidemic through innovative research. Since its founding in 1985, amfAR has accelerated the pace of HIV/AIDS research and contributed to numerous breakthroughs that are extending and saving lives around the world.Through its Research program, amfAR is advancing efforts to prevent HIV infection in those who are vulnerable and to improve treatment for people living with HIV/AIDS, with the ultimate goal of eradicating the virus. Launched in 2014, amfAR’s Countdown to a Cure for AIDS initiative is aimed at developing the scienti�c basis of a cure by 2020.

amfAR’s TREAT Asia program is a network of clinics, hospitals, and research institutions working with civil society to ensure the safe and effective delivery of HIV/AIDS treatments throughout Asia and the Paci�c. TREAT Asia has become a model for regional collaboration on treatment preparedness, education, training, and clinical research.

Informed by thorough research and analysis, amfAR is a highly respected advocate of rational and compassionate AIDS-related public policy.
