News From the Room What happened this week
Reading: This week we were back to lessons in
our Journeys Series. We worked on Unit 12 this week; we read our story, worked on vocabulary, and reviewed fact and opinion. We took our assessment today.
Writing/Grammar: This week we worked on Unit
12; we learned about the different types of verbs and wrote a problem and solution paragraph. We took our assessment today.
Spelling: It was back to spelling as usual this
week. If a student gets all the words right on the pretest, they get to give the test on Friday!! This has been a wonderful incentive!! Test was today!
Social Studies: We are continuing to learn about
the 13 Colonies. We made a map of a colonial village.
Science: We started our unit over plants and
animals. We classified items and started classifying some animals this week. We also learned the difference between a vertebrate and an invertebrate. Math: This week we learned about identifying angles, subtracting a fraction from 1, and line graphs. We took a timed test today. Keep studying your math facts!!

Social Studies: We will be taking notes over the 13 Colonies and looking at websites that are about the 13 Colonies. Science: We will be learning about mammals and birds next week. Math: Next week we will be learning about subtracting a fraction from a whole number greater than 1, decimal parts of a meter, and reading a centimeter scale. There will be a test on Thursday.
Please make sure your child has a coat, hat, and gloves because we go outside unless it is under 22 degrees!!
Student of the Week!!
Our student of the week is Malayna
Briner!! Malayna’s favorite color is blue
and she likes making crafts and riding
horses. She would like to be a singer or a
vet when she grows up. Brave is her
favorite movie. Malayna is special because
she never gives up and is always
determined to finish something!!
