May 11, 2012 ACRT sends letter to candidates and their department chairs
undergoing 2-year, 4-year and other reviews apprising them of their conclusions regarding their progress toward tenure and promotion.
Spring Board Meeting Trustees consideration and decision for tenure and May 5, 2012 promotion candidates who had, in a timely fashion, appealed an adverse recommendation by the President to the Faculty Appeals Committee. Library Announcements:
International DVDs: The Phi Delta Sigma Honorary Alumnae Sorority has donated $700.00 to create a popular foreign film DVD collection in memory of Charlotte Price. The Library is in the process of collecting suggestions for foreign language films that would appeal to students, not only those enrolled in language classes but also to our international student population. We anticipate designating a section of our current popular DVDs for these foreign language titles to increase their visibility.
Print Journal Review Starting: In an effort to be fiscally responsible as well as realistic since the rapid increase of electronic serial usage, the library will be re-evaluating which titles it continues to receive in print. Since this review mostly centers on how faculty and students use the collection, we will be contacting every faculty department to get their impact on which title need to be available and in what format. The Collection Management librarian, Sandy Stump, is coordinating the project. If you have specific questions or ideas about the review, please contact Sandy ([email protected], x7205) ASAP.
Smart-er Classroom Pilot: Albright has adopted many technologies into our classrooms to enhance teaching. Our rooms have LCD projectors, DVD/VCR players, Digital Document Cameras and recently we have added computers to a few as well. Two summers ago, the Library and IT Services started developing pilot programs to make the integration of technology into instruction seamless. Over Spring Break, we upgraded Alumni 103 and it now has a technology podium and media switcher -- these two new tools have created a cleaner teaching space and easier tools for navigating the classroom technology. We are seeking the feedback of the instructors who use Alumni Hall 103 and their initial impressions indicate that this is a significant improvement in making technology easier to use in the classroom. Please contact STAT ([email protected] or 610-921-7828) to arrange a simple demonstration.
