“Can YOU survive on one pound a Day” part 2 The event saw a number of JCI UK 'firsts' such as Text Giving and celebrities such as Joan Collins re-tweeting our hash tag! Everyone approached the challenge in a different way and there was great idea sharing and support. We had members using their work place newsletters to generate sponsorship, nutritionists giving advice on healthy budget meals and one Chamber had a Pound a Day dinner party! Although it is safe to say that everyone who joined in found the challenge difficult, many members have realized that they could easily make changes to their shopping and cooking habits, especially to reduce food wastage. We really wanted to spread these messages of awareness because we believe that money does not change people’s attitudes and actions, it is knowledge and information that does. We are aiming to create a legacy for this event and continue running it as a regular feature. Some members have such a passion for the cause that they have signed up to live on £1 a day again in 2013 for the worldwide Live Below the Line event in April. We are also in the process of building a Tool Kit so that other Local or National Organizations could access if they want to run a similar challenge. We have built a fantastic relationship with Save the Children and are hoping to continue working closely with them to run other projects to try and support all 8 MDGs!

Set sail to save Lives! In 2013, the third edition of the JCI Regatta will be held between August 31

st – September 4

th. It will be an exciting boat race that combines sports,

nature, networking, friendship, and fundraising. 11 new yachts (to be built in 2013) will host 100 participants from all over Europe enjoying four days of sailing in the magnificent surroundings of Croatia around the islands of Biograd near Zadar. In 2011 and 2012 a group of young active members from the Netherlands initiated this great event. They organized a four-day event in Croatia, including eight boats. All boats were manned with JCI members and competed with each other in sailing. Every day, there were two races, and after four days, a winner was declared. Every night, a different harbor was organized to sleep in, including a great dinner with local fresh dishes. At the most idyllic spots, lunch was organized, most of them in little coves or in the middle of the Croatian sea. This year's edition will have a new sailing route with new and exiting venues with participants from all over Europe - Turkey, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and France. We even had the honor of having two representatives from the UN Foundation with us! This whole event is set up to organize funds for the JCI Nothing But Nets. There still some seats left, check out www.jci-regatta.com and see you in Croatia!

"Youth in the steps of UN Millennium Development Goals" Project was held by JCI Turkey from 1 February 2012 to 1 October 2012 was a great success. It was granted by the Turkish National Agency (Center for European Union Education and Youth Programmes by 48.877,50 Euro. Objective was to create awareness about the UN Millenium Development Goals in different cities in Turkey. All members of 26 LOMs and 7 provisional LOMs of Turkey benefited from this. It started with a project kick-off meeting in Istanbul with participation of 33 members from all JCI Turkey chapters in March. In April four UN MDG seminars about UN MDGs were done by UN experts in four different cities in Turkey; Diyarbakır, Nevsehir, Antalya and Samsun. MY WORLD Survey

Let the world hear your opinion!

As you all know the UN MDGs, which have been agreed upon, will end in 2015. However this will not mean the end of working for the world’s biggest challenges. The United Nations already announced they will keep working about the MDGs after the year 2015. They are called Sustainable Development Goals after that. Which Development Goals you believe should have the focus?! JCI has signed a partnership with MyWorld surveys. The worldwide survey gives YOU the opportunity to share your opinion which Development Goal should get the focus in your country/region. Take 5 minutes of your time and send in your response via: http://www.myworld2015.org MY World is a global survey for citizens led by the United Nations and partners. It aims to capture people's voices, priorities and views, so that global leaders can be informed as they begin the process of defining the new development agenda for the world.

JCI Mosquito Classic Car Rally JCI Belgium, Gent Artevelde Its roots lie in the foundations of what JCI has to offer. The idea came to life by four Jaycees of the Belgian Delegation Committee to the European Conference. Monte Carlo was immediately associated with both fancy cars and great luxury, which is in sharp contrast to other places in the world. It’s this contradiction that created the idea to share some of this luxury with others that are not so lucky. The team’s credo was therefore born “Driving for Nothing but Nets”. The rally has now become a powerful medium that enables the different JCI pillars business, society, internationalism and fun to closely work together creating a better society in the end; “Business partners are able to buy visibility on the Classic Cars that drive to the European Conference in Monte Carlo, while supporting a greater cause…” If you wish to see the arrival of the JCI Mosquito Classic Car Rally in Monte Carlo, you can! Just come over to the Stade Louis II, at 14:30 on Wednesday 29

th of May 2013. And for the Classical Car Parade you are invited to F1 Circuit at 15:00 on 30
