Who is Jasper?

Jasper is an AI-powered bot who recruits engineers.

Problem

External recruiters provide lengthy and inefficient services to clients and yet on average, they charge a placement fee of 20% of the annual salary.

Staffing/recruiting is a $150 B industry in the USA.

History

For more than 20 years, many startups have tried to disrupt the recruiting industry. They have not succeeded.

Currently, there are hundreds of startup listed in AngelList under the recruiting/staffing categories. Their share of the market is insignificant.

Why?

Recruitment process is heavily dependent on human functions. It is not only about the intelligence, but also the fuzziness in decision-making.

Text is the natural language of the recruiting industry.

Breakthrough

For the first time in history, there is a real chance to disrupt the recruiting industry through artificial intelligence and conversational UI (AI-powered bots).

First challenge

Challenge: How to ensure the bot has all the information he/she needs without asking too many or dumb questions?

When to ask questions

It’s all about interview:• When a client sends a job description, the

next thing they like to know is how many qualified candidates you have lined up.

• When a candidate sends his/her resume, the next thing they want to hear is whether or not they will be interviewed.

Anything else, is basically friction and frustration.

Machine Learning

The bot should learn to ask questions and have conversations with users, ONLY if it is 100% necessary.

This poses huge challenges to selecting and sequencing right algorithms and training the machine properly.
