Whenwehear2020,werememberthecrazyyear.Somanythingshavehappened,weconFnuetogo

throughaglobalpandemic,wehavewitnessedracialinjusFce,andwehavegonethroughapresidenFal

elecFon.Allofthesethingshaveimpactedeveryoneinadifferentway.FormeithasbeenaninteresFng

experienceandwouldnotchoosetogothroughitagain.

Goingthroughthispandemichasbeenhardbutalsoablessing.WhenIfirstheardthatin-personschoolwascancelled

Iwasactuallyhappy.IthoughtIwouldn'thavetowakeupearlyandgetdressed,itwasadream.ButasIconFnuedtodoonlineschoolitstartedtogethard.ItwashardnottohaveateachertogotoandaskquesFons.Italsocouldget

stressfulatFmeswhenteacherspileyouwithhomework.

IalsogottorealizewhatracialinjusFceisandhowbaditcanget.Itwasveryscarytoseethethingsdonetopeople

justbecauseoftheirskincolor.Itwasalsoscarytoseeallofthehateinthisworld.ButitwasalsobeauFfultosee

peoplecometogethertosupporteachother.WeshouldalwaysrememberthatGodcreatedusinhisimageandwe

shouldshareGod'slovethathehasforuswithothers.

ButIgottoexperiencethingsthatIwouldnevergettodowithoutthepandemic.Someofyouknowthatmyfamily

hasbeenintheprocessofmoving.Itisnoteasytomovewithoutapandemic,imaginemovinginthemidstofa

pandemic.Oncewehadsoldourhousewegottolivewithmyammachi,whilewewerelookingforanotherhouse.

LivingwithmyammachiisabigblessingbecausewegettospendmoreFmewithher.ButI’msureshedoesn’tappreciatethemess.EventhoughIgettospendqualityFmewithmyfamilyitsomeFmesgetsannoyingtosharearoom

withyourparents,especiallywhenyourparentssnore.

LifecanbecrazyandwehavetorememberthatwewillgetoutofthistogetherandGodiswithus.Isaiah43:2says:

“Whenyoupassthroughthewaters,Iwillbewithyou;Andthroughtherivers,theyshallnotoverflowyou.Whenyou

walkthroughthefire,youshallnotbeburned,Norshalltheflamescorchyou”.

HorebmembersvolunteeredtohelpsetupamobilefieldhospitalatFountainValleyRegionalHospitalonDecember27th&28thtosupportthebedsidecaregiversduringthishistoricCovidpa2entsurge.

ThankstoAninaCholakathfororganizingandNebuVargheseforphotos.

AQerallthatwefacedintheinsaneandchaoFcperiodofourlifethatwecalllastyear,wecanallunderstandthatcominguptothispointwasnotatallacomfortablejourney.2020waschallenging,very

challenging.ThewholeworldisangryanddeeplydisturbedbyalltheeventsthatcameoneaQeranotherthispastyear.Theworldwasalreadyfrustratedwiththelockdownandsocialdistancingmeasuresandtotopthatoff,wesee

racialtensions,weathercalamiFesandviolenceallaroundtheworld.Watchingthenewsnowisjustphysicallyand

emoFonallydraining.Ontopofthis,asahighschoolseniorIwillnotbehavingapropergraduaFon,gradnight,prom,orevencasualhangoutswithfriends.Despiteallthis,2020hasnodoubttaughtusalot.Sowiththelessonslearnedandhighhopes,

let'sgointo2021withadriveforadifferentoutcomeandagreatyear.

InJohn5:5-9,thesickman’sfirstresponsewastoofferallthereasonsthathecouldn’tbehealed.But,Jesussteppedpast

alltheexcusesandtoldhimtowalk.Inthesamewayifwefocusonworkingthingsoutonourown,wewon’tgetanywhere.

WehavetobewillingtoleavethepastinthepastandfollowJesustoseeadifferenceinourlives.TheworldisalsoconstantlydistracFngus.Forexample,manyteenagerslikeI,areconstantlysurroundedbythesocietalpressuresortrendsthatdonot

exactlyalignwithaChrist-likelifeorcanbeharmfultoourselves.ButthemorewedesperatelyholdontotheBible’steachingsandGod’svoice,wecanbefilledwithstrengthandpeacetomoveforwardinhopestobethebestversionsofourselves.From

nowon,let’snotbediscouragedbytheunrestandevilthisworldisthrowingourwaybutconFnuetofocusonGodeachstep

oftheway.ThemorewefocusandturntoHim,wecantrustHimmore.Asweswimoutintonewandunchartedwaters,let’suseGod’simmensepowertocalmthewaves.Inthisbrandnewyear,let’smoveforwardbelievingthatour2021visionwillbe

clearerthan2020’s.
