Welcome Back! January 2014

RHA Sponsors Winterplace Snow Tubing Trip Residence Hall Association is partnering with the Office of Student Activities to of-fer a totally free snow tubing trip to Winterplace near Beckley, WV on Saturday, Jan-uary 25th. This marks the first partnership between Student Activities and Residence Hall Association to offer a weekend trip for students. There will be a charter bus leaving at approximately 8:30 am on Saturday, January 25th. The bus should return around 10:00 pm the same day. To reserve your seat on the bus you have to make a down payment of $20 and you will get your money back when you show up for the trip. While transportation and snow tubing ticket to Winterplace are included, meals are not included. Your $20 deposit which will be refunded to you when you get on the bus can be used to purchase lunch and dinner while traveling to and from Winterplace. Sign-ups for the trip and sign-up locations will be announced during the first week of school through e-mail and social media. Please pay attention for the announcement. If you have any questions, please see a member of Residence Hall Association. You may also contact RHA Advisor Britt Frye at [email protected]. We hope this is the first of many more exciting weekend excursions.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO BUILD YOUR RESUME?

Come our for our Wings and Wisdom event on January 23rd at 8:30 pm!

Towers West RA’s will talk about how they picked the majors they are in now and what

steps they are taking to prepare for future careers in their chosen fields. Learn how successful students align their interests with opportunities such as internships which provide opportunities to learn and enhance marketability upon graduation. There will be free Buffalo Wild Wings offered for those who attend the program.

Marco Wants You for Hall Council This semester spots have opened up! If interested please talk to RAs J.J Phillips and Nick Chancey, or talk to RD Britt Frye. Meeting times have yet to be announced. Last semester Hall Council had successful programs, one being the ping pong tournament, raising money for

Christmas gifts for children in need. Also Hall Council is a great op-portunity that requires little time commitment. It is a great opportuni-ty to meet others in the hall, grow your leadership skills, and enhance

your resume in just one or two hours every week. Don’t miss out!

Welcome Back for a New Semester! Get Started on the Right Foot

If you are just joining

our community…

WELCOME! If you are

returning for your second

semester… GLAD YOU ARE

BACK!! The staff here in TTE

hopes that you are excited

and ready to embrace a new

semester. We will be having

lots of fun and

exciting things for you to do

and get involved with. We

hope that you take every

opportunity and truly enjoy

the experience! If you have

any questions feel free to ask

the RA on your floor or stop

by the front desk!!

Things to REMEMBER!! Now that you are here

make sure that you have

read/reviewed the housing

policies. You are responsible

for knowing these and

abiding by them. Your RA

will be going over them at

your first floor meeting so

make sure you are in

attendance. There is a two

week freeze at the beginning

of the semester for room

changes after that if you feel

that you need a room

change you can talk with

your RA about that

possibility. Make sure to

show your key when

entering the building. This is

for your safety and security.

Make sure to lock your door

when you leave your room.

If you have any concerns at

all make sure you speak

with your RA.

“Your FUTURE is created by what you do today,

not tomorrow!”

TTE TIMES Twin Towers East Newsletter Welcome Back! January 2014

Last but not

least…

Academics are the main

reason you are here!! If for

some reason you are

struggling or need a little

help, make sure to reach out

to one of the Academic

Mentors that are in the

building. If you can’t find

one let your RA know and

they will lead you in the

right direction.

If you are working on

staying healthy as a New

Year’s Resolution, don’t

forget about the REC and all

of the great fitness activities

it offers.
