Patron Issue

Dear Patrons,Each year, Poydras Home relies on individual contributions to make a

difference in the lives of our residents. As I complete my term as President of the Board of Managers this January, I am truly moved by the generosity of our wonderful Poydras patrons and supporters, year over year, and, especially by the many gifts and contributions of the past year. Traditionally, Poydras Home recognizes and thanks its generous donors in each issue of The Poydras Promise. To express our heartfelt and grateful appreciation to all who so generously gave of resources and time to Poydras Home in 2008, this special issue of The Podyras Promise is dedicated to you. As I now turn over the reins to incoming president Lucy R. Eustis, Lucy and I, together, on behalf of the Board of Managers, the staff, and the entire Poydras Home Community thank each of you for supporting our mission and for your generosity to Poydras in 2008. The 14th Annual Art Show & Patron Party on Nov. 7-9 raised over $70,000 for new therapeutic hydra-spas for

Poydras Home. Patron Party attendees enjoyed a special evening of fabulous food, entertainment by The Charmaine Neville Band, and patrons bid on over 160 silent auction items! More than 160 artists participated in the two-day indoor/outdoor show and generously donated 35% of art sale proceeds to Poydras. To all of the sponsors, donors, patrons, artists and volunteers for this wonderful event- we thank you!

residents and day participants.

Poydras Home’s excellent staff ratios, quality caregivers, improvements to the home, and support for Alzheimer’s and dementia programs are all funded in part by the Annual Appeal.

EndowmentThe Poydras Home Endowment Fund ensures Poydras’ future as a continuing care retirement community and assures the perpetuation of its mission of quality, compassionate care for future generations. Income generated from the Endowment Fund supports general operations, property and capital improvements, and resident subsidies.

Annual Art Show & Patron PartySupport for Poydras Home’s annual fundraiser as a sponsor, donor, contributor, patron, artist, or volunteer assists Poydras in raising funds for a specific need. Participating artists donate a percentage of their sale proceeds to Poydras. In 2007, the Art Show & Patron Party proceeds obtained a new 18 passenger bus for residents. In 2008, funds raised were dedicated to purchasing new therapeutic hydra-spas for residents.

Memorials & GiftsThe generous support of gifts made to Poydras Home in memory of or in honor of someone directly supports the operations of Poydras. These very thoughtful gifts offer a special way to remember those you love, or to recognize a kindness received or service rendered.

Pastoral CarePoydras Home nurtures the spiritual, as well as the physical requirements of our community. Poydras retains a full-time chaplain who ministers daily to the emotional and spiritual needs of residents, families, and staff. Donations to Pastoral Care support the Chaplaincy Program providing two non denominational religious services weekly and year-round support for 10 visiting ministers from five religious denominations.
