I am a Senior Architectural Technician that has recently immigrated to Melbourne Australia. Before immigrating I successfully ran both an Architectural Design firm as well as a Feng Shui Consultant practice. I have over 5 years of experience in the architectural profession and 3 years in Feng Shui consultancy and design.

In the 2,5 years that I ran my own architectural firm Mammoth Designs, I worked on 5 projects in three different industries. I was involved from concept design until tender documentation. I have 6 years experience in working on Revit and

used it to design and document all my projects.

As a Feng Shui Consultant I had more 38 clients, ranging from residential to office and retail. Online marketing and referrals was how I obtain most of my clients. I designed and managed my business’ website and online marketing campaigns using Wix, Google add words and Google analytics. During this time

I also published 2 Feng Shui articles and had an active newsletter.

I am fascinated by the built environment and how it transforms and interacts with peoples lives. From the large scale of urban design to the intimate influence of Feng Shui. I firmly believe that sustainable architecture and elegant design can improve the quality of peoples lives. Timeless design is about creating

spaces that are elegant and harmonious.

Studies Work

Design Revit Senior Architectural Technician

Whilst studying at Stellenbosch University I discovered my passion for architecture and interior design. I decided to follow my dream and

study design.

I had the wonderful opportunity to work for various architectural firms in Cape Town. I worked on various projects, in different industries. I performed equally well as part of a team or

working independently.

I have a high level of Revit experience and have been using the program to model and document

projects for over 6 years.

Tranquil Vitality

As a Feng Shui consultant I got the unique opportunity to assist people in enhancing their lives. This part of my work enhanced my understanding of clients ad improved my

communication skill dramatically.

As a business owner I had gained a more in-depth knowledge of how to perform and manage the administration component of an architectural

practice.

Two of the projects that I worked on was Light Steel Construction buildings. Before starting the projects I had little knowledge of this building method and learning this new technique was

remarkably rewarding.

Page 8: Jane du Plessis Portfolio (Small)
Page 9: Jane du Plessis Portfolio (Small)

After moving to Johannesburg in 2012 I started my own architectural design firm. I created a firm where sustainable design and customer services where the

corner stones of every project.

HOUSE NAIDOOThis project was very unique in that the clients wanted me to design their house according to Feng Shui principles. As the head designer and Feng Shui consultant this gave me a wonderful opportunity to use all my skills to create a elegant architectural design that was also in harmony with the client’s and site’s chi.

HOUSE BOTHAThe clients wanted to extend their existing house to include extra accommodation as well as a small office for a medical practice. The challenged with this project was to extend the house in such a way that they can still occupy it while the extension was being built.

Trying to make a clear distinction between the medical practice and the home was a interesting programmatic and visual problem for the front facade of the house.

Part-time Senior Architectural Technician at Visser Architects May - October 2011 Cape TownI worked on various residential projects which entailed the preparing of tender drawings, council submissions and 3D modelling.

Part-time Architectural Technician at KL Architects February - April 2011 Cape TownI was appointed to oversee the last stages of additions and alterations to a house as project architect under direction from Alan Louw. I interacted with the client and assisted with selection and specification of the finishes. I handled all the administration, site meeting minutes and correspondence with contractors as well as conducting site visits, compilation and issuance of working drawings.

Council Submission for House Lemmetjies | Joshua Conrad Architects

Page 30: Jane du Plessis Portfolio (Small)

Internship at Raubenheimer Harvey & Associates October - December 2006 Cape TownI was involved with a new development, for Classico, in various stages of the project. I completed council submission plans for a new house in Plettenberg Bay. I worked on additions to Mr. and Mrs. Whales’ house, from drawing the “as built” plans until the final stages.

Internship at KMH Architects February - September 2006 Cape TownWorked in a team on several large scale retail projects. This included alterations and additions to the Canal Walk’s West Piazza, design of the new tourist bus stop and new parent-child ablution facilities. I was involved from the concept development through until the technical documentation.I compiled council and working drawings for several residential projects and a retail project as well as the extensions to the Village Centre in Betty’s Bay.
