HITEC Gives Full Support to the 2009 East Asian Games
and Promotes Sports Development in HK
The 5th East Asian Games (EAG) was successfully held in
Hong Kong from 5 Dec to 13 Dec 2009. HITEC was one of
the 21 competition venues, and was responsible for hosting
Bowling, cue Sports and DanceSport competitions, with a
total of 32 gold medals awarded in these 3 competitions. 5
medals were awarded to Hong Kong
team.

help promote EAG, HHL not only became one of the venue
sponsors of the 2009 EAG, but also sponsored the “Promotion
of Hong Kong Athletes’ Readiness in Participating in the 5th
East Asian Games” organized by the Sports Federation &

Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China. The event was held at HITEC in early July
2009, which helped the public to learn more about EAG and showed the support for
our local athletes.
Ms. Josephine Lam, Deputy General Manager of HITEC, said “2009 EAG was one of
the largest events to be held in Hong Kong in recent years and HITEC is proud to
participate as one of the competition venues. It not only enhanced our experience in
hosting such worldwide sports events, but also helped promote sports development
in Hong Kong.”
Star Hall, the integrated performance venue of
HITEC, hosted 2 movie premieres in the past 3
months. These included ‘Pan Zuo Liang’ (Oct 20,
2009) and ‘Treasure Hunter’ (Dec 23, 2009)
which attracted over 4,000 audiences and
supported by main casts, directors and pop
stars from Mainland China and Hong Kong. The
movie premiere of ‘Pan Zuo Liang’ was a fund
raising event for Hong Kong Association of
Youth Development, and the movie itself was
one of the most important films for celebrating
the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of the
People’s Republic of China.

2nd Hong Kong Wedding Showcase 2009 (Oct 10-11, 2009) 2nd Hong Kong Wedding Showcase 2009 was successfully held at mid Oct 2009 with over 200 booths. Exhibitors included hotels and restaurants providing banquet services, pre-wedding photo shooting companies from Mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong, wedding services providers and bridal gowns rental etc. Pop stars and DJ were invited to sing and play games with pre-wedding couples, while the lucky draw has given pre-wedding couples special offers provided by various wedding consultancy companies.
Disney Live! Winnie the Pooh (Oct 16-18, 2009) “Disney Live! Winnie the Pooh” was staged at Star Hall of HITEC for 3 days from Oct 16-18, 2009. The drama was about the friends of Winnie the Pooh, including Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Rabbit and Owl etc planned for a surprise birthday party for Pooh, who forgot his own birthday. The edutainment

in life in an optimistic approach. The seminar was well received by the public and the audiences were impressed by Nick’s stories.
Sam Kit Popera (Nov 12-18, 2009) Sam Kit Popera () was successfully held at Star Hall of HITEC with 7 consecutive shows from Nov 12-18, 2009. It was the 9th anniversary show of Sam Kit Popera and breakthrough has been made by two main casts – Sammy Leung and Kitty Yuen, who acted as a child, elderly person or even cross-casting! Their
performances together with other stars and DJs made the drama fill with laughers, fun, love and affection than ever. Full of Hot Events in HITEC Numbers of public shows, concerts and expos were held at HITEC from Oct to Dec 2009, which were all received favorable response and recorded excellent participation. These included “Neway Music Live x Kary”, “WMC I-1 World Muaythai Grand Slam”, “All Breed Championship Dog Show”, “Visual Music 09”, “G.E.M 18 Live 2009 Concert”, “RubberBand Concert #1”, “MIKA – The Boy Who Knew Too Much”, “GUITAR HERO – Joey Tang Live 2009”, “Kid Carnival”(
