ISK AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES HAVE STARTED! Please note that this week marked the start of After School Activities. We had several students who did not attend their clubs this week, so please review the lists below to confirm which clubs your child has been enrolled in. (Tip: use Ctrl+F and type in your child’s first name to quickly and easily find them in these documents). LS Football Pitch: Please note that ASAs use the LS Football pitch on every activity day. It is very important that parents and students clear this area once students have been united with their activities and the activities begin.

Attendance: It is very important that teachers are informed if a student will not be coming to an activity for any reason. Please let the homeroom teacher and/or the activity teacher know about any absences. This information must come from parents and not the students.

Clothing & Equipment: Please ensure that students are prepared to participate in their activity with the appropriate clothing and equipment. For example: for athletic activities it is important that appropriate footwear and clothing are brought to school. Winter boots are not acceptable footwear in this example.

New School Photos – See Inside!

The new school is really taking shape this week, with the floor being put down in the gym and windows being fitted throughout. The rooftop garden is very exciting because there is a large greenhouse up there in addition to flower beds for planting outside. Mr Oh, our site manager, is very confident that the interior will be finished at the end of February. After that, during March and April, the outside areas will be completed.

THREE DAY WEEK NEXT WEEK! Please note that next week will be a three day week! There will be no school on Thursday 30 January or Friday 31 January due to Lunar New Year.

INFORMAL CONCERT – CHANGE OF DATE! The informal concert will be postponed until Tuesday 28th January at 4pm. It will be in the Upper School. All are welcome to attend. Informal concerts are very relaxed events which are intended to help children learn to be more confident about performing for an audience. We encourage all students who can play an instrument to sign up and come and play a piece for us. Children should let Miss Ma or Miss Suwon know if they would like to play, or if they wish to know more about it.

Learning about Learning! - IMYC Parent Information Evening

Many thanks to all the parents who attended the IMYC Information Evening on Monday. It is very important that we have such opportunities during the year to be able to communicate about how children learn at ISK and it is also important for parents to be able to ask questions about our programmes. This particular event was designed to give a little insight into each subject in the Middle School, and so during the evening we moved as a class of parents from one classroom to the next, as if following a student timetable. We were given a brief presentation by each subject teacher and an opportunity to ask questions. A particular emphasis of the evening was on our new online learning management system, which is called Haiku. We believe this will be of great benefit in supporting student learning and will facilitate improved communication between teachers, parents and students. I was also happy to note that the class was very attentive and very well behaved! - Mr Jackson

Resilience means: “I keep trying, even when it is difficult.”

Wear Pink and Show Your Resilience This month we are encouraging everyone to think pink and be resilient. So why not wear pink to school to show your resilience? And be sure to keep a look out for Mr Jackson’s ultra-pink tie!
