Leo Ivan Udakara President - UOM Leos
President’s Note:
DREAM BIGI consider it as a great privilege to have the oppor-
tunity to address you all in the very first newsletter
of the Leo Club of University of Moratuwa. I would
like to give a small message that, I hope, will be use-
ful to you all in your life.
“Dream Big”. That is the message I am going to
pass to you. Dreaming is very essential for humans.
Dreams become the targets in human lives. Passion
fuels you. But the vision – a big dream – points you
to your ultimate destination. You definitely should
have dreams in you to succeed in life.
If you do not dream about something, that means
you are not interested in that thing. And if you are
interested in something definitely you should be
dreaming about that. Dreams are the motivation,
driving force of your entire life. So don’t be afraid
to dream. Always dream big. That will guide you to
the success. Don’t care whether you will succeed or
not. Always dream big to catch the stars, if you miss
the stars, then you will grab a handful of clouds.
I will conclude with a very famous quote by Langston
Hughes.
“Hold fast to dreams,For if dreams die,Life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.”

KILLER CVARE YOU READY?
INTERVIEW AND CV PREPERATION WORKSHOP | 04th July 2015
Three or four gentlemen staring at you, focus on you and about to ask an question,
an important and special question which decides your whole way to go…..
“Ok! Tell me, why you should be selected for this position?”“aerrr….. ahm…. Ah… oh…, well …. I…………………………”
So,
are you ready? We UoM LEOs were keen on the situation and thought of improv-
ing university students before this awkward moment. As regards,
the past president of LEO district 306 A2, LEO Isuru Senadheera
was the guest speaker for the occasion on 4th of July. His experi-
ences in facing for interviews as well as interviewing somebody
else made participants strong in facing for a board of white col-
lars.
Turning into preparing a CV it makes us little
anxious. What should be written? Is it the
proper way of mentioning a skill or a talent?
This is confusing…This session gave an idea
to prepare a correct CV in the formal man-
ner.
The session was conducted focusing on the
applicants for the board of directors for the
upcoming Leostic year and for sure they
might have taken the maximum out of it…

CONSORTIUMLEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP
05th July 2015 | 9.00 P.M TO 4.00 P.M | IN SUJATHA VIDYALAYA, MATARA
As leaders, LEOS show the way for future leaders.
UOM leos organized a leadership and positive at-
titude development program at sujatha vidyalaya
,Matara. The program was for girl guides in schools
around Matara area. On the day, first half was full of
fun games and team spirit building activities.
“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way”
In the second half the motivation lecture
done by leo Yasendra Abeygunawardhana was
impressive. Leadership is a quality that is not
tangible, we can’t touch it. It is a quality that is not
measurable, we can’t calculate it. Despite the
variability in perceptions of leadership ,we
all have leaders who have made a difference
in our life and inspired us in one way or
another. That’s what everyone got at the end
of the day.

Find a way to reach and stay,Open your heart and wipe the gray,Wave your help in need and say,Helping indeed is my way...
Life is a long distance drive along a strange path where we don’t know what we will meet next. In that long way we will meet many people who need a lift for their own des-tinations. Some may ask for help and some may not, even though they need help. Making yourself helpful to others will guide you to your own happiness.
Seeing a plant you grow becoming a tree makes you feel happy. It is the same feeling you get when you see someone happy by receiving your kind help. Happiness is not some-thing which we can buy. It is something that we must earn in our lifetime. Some may think being rich has something to do with help-ing others. The reality we should know is that a simple smile or blissful words which we can give free of charge will be a help to enlighten someone’s heart. So think of every smart and small ways to make someone happy during your carrier and preserve your smile forever.
Hand in hand help in need,Pluck them all heart grown weed,Plant in heart the kind called seed,Treat the world and smile so sweet...

HEPATITIS DAY | 28th July 2015 | 4.00 P.M TO 6.00 P.M AT KATUBEDDA JUNCTION
What do you think of them…? An election campaign...?
Not at all, it was an awareness program on world hepatitis day…There are many things that all know these things
are dangerous and come across our lives without
prior warning. But it is human nature to take ac-
tions for those after happened. Especially for ill-
nesses that do not show any symptoms. Hepatitis
is one such illness.
On the hepatitis day, Leo club of Moratuwa and
Leo Club of Unawatuna Diamond Stars gathered
as one team just to remind the people what they
should know about hepatitis. People near the road
sides were informed about the disease by distrib-
uting handouts. May be a little handout will save
a man’s life.
It was just a little journey. But we were able to make a little flash in
peoples’ mind that they have to be careful.
So it is up to you…Get tested early…
Beat it...Because it is closer
than you think.

Leo club of University of Moratuwa has started a new era with a new set of leaders. It is a great pleasure to release the first issue of our newsletter “It’s Us” for the new leoistic year 2015/2016.
In this month we have organized several valuable projects like Consortium, Killer CV and Hepatitis awareness program. Screening the stage drama “Bal-loth ekka ba” was the mega fund raising project for the New Year. “It’s us” is a good stage for the UoM Leos to bring up their creativity while publishing their community and social services. My special thanks go to the former chief editor Leo Piyumi Pabasara who gave me advices and ideas for the success of the newsletter. And I would like to thank my team for the great support they have given.
Look forward for more action in the coming Leoistic year with UoM Leos. The future success of our newsletter depends on your comments, contributions and ideas! So we encourage all of you to do more productive, useful projects to the society as well as inspire us to enrich “IT’S US” further. Read and Join... “IT’S US”
