It’s Playoffs Time!

It’s hard to believe we are more than half way done with 1st quarter. Time

flies when you’re having fun! We hope you enjoy the 2nd edition of The

NBA: The question is lurking, who will be the rookie of the year?

Grant did some research and sources tell us the most likely people to win the

award is Lonzo Ball, Ben Simmons and Dennis Smith JR.

Now let’s get to the MVP’s, Kawhi Leonard. Kawhi has under the

radar talent that’s just ready to explode. LeBron James, we all know that he

can play. And now that Kyrie is gone and that Isiah Thomas is unhealthy you

can see LeBron James get the ball more. And last but not least Giannis Ante-

tokounmpo. He has hidden talent and is ready to make an impact.

MLB: The Indians and the Dodgers are proven to be great, but can

they go all the way? We think so. Also, the soon to be MVP’s Jose Altuve

and Paul Goldschmidt are on a roll. Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger are

most likely Rookies of the Year.

NFL: In our opinion, Leonard Fournette is going to be the Rookie of

the Year. The only way for him not to get a thousand yard rushing season is if

he gets hurt. Other possibilities for Rookie of the Year could be Deshawn

Watson (if he remains a starter) and Myles Garret.

The best teams this year are probably the KC Chiefs, the Atlanta

Falcons and the Oakland Raiders. Our MVP predictions are none other than

Matty Ice (Matt Ryan) and Aaron Rodgers.

MLB Predictions By Matthew Mannes & Liam Ratcliffe

As the regular season comes to an end, October is on the way and

also the MLB playoffs. Seven teams are making it into the playoffs. In

1st place is the Los Angeles Dodgers with a record of 99-57. They are

on a winning streak, previously pulling themselves out of a 11 game

loss. The 2nd place Cleveland Indians have a record of 98-58 and went

on a 22 game winning streak which was ended by The Kansas City Roy-

als (who are currently on a 2 game winning streak). The 3rd place Hou-

ston Astros have a record of 95-60 and they are on a 1 game losing

streak. The 4th place Washington Nationals are on a two game winning

streak with a record of 94-61 with a 2 game winning streak. The Bos-

ton Red Sox have a record of 91-64 and have a 6 game winning streak.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have a record of 90-66 and are currently on

a 1 game winning streak. And finally, the New York Yankees have a

record of 86-69 and are on a 1 game losing streak. Obviously the pre-

ferred team is the Los Angeles Dodgers who are 1 game up from the

Indians but the Indians have a 65+ run differential. The Dodgers are

predicted to have a 99% chance of winning the division and have a 14%

chance of winning the World Series. The Indians are predicted to win

the division with a 27% chance of winning the World Series. The Hou-

ston Astros are predicted to win the division and have a 12% chance of

winning the World Series. The Nationals are predicted to win the divi-

sion and have a 14% chance to win the World Series. Finally, The Red

Sox have an 86% chance to win the division and a 10% chance to win

the World Series.

ries. The team with the most votes to win the world series was; Kansas

City Royals and T Bones (not in MLB). The team with the least amount of

The summer transfer window has seen some very good play-

ers moving to different clubs. However, the most exciting and most

interesting transfer was certainly Neymar! Neymar is one of the

best professional soccer players of all time. After 105 goals for FC

Barcelona in all competitions, he left for Paris Saint-Germain

(PSG) in August of 2017.

PSG is said to pay a world record 222 million euros for the Bra-

zilian. That is almost 266 million dollars! His wage with PSG is 32

million dollars every year. This equates to 72 thousand dollars per

week, 64 dollars per minute and over one dollar a second!

So far, PSG is undefeated when Neymar plays. Neymar has

been directly involved in ten of the team’s goals this season. Some

notable performances for Neymar have been a 6-2 win over Tou-

louse and a 5-0 stomping of Celtic FC in the Champions League. If

you are a PSG fan, Neymar is looking to be a great signing for your

club.

Shoes are a big part of modern day life. Shoes have always protected

our feet, but, there is a common debate of which brand is better; Nike or

Adidas. So, we talked to some CT students around the school and asked

them which of the two shoe companies they like the most.

So those were our results for the question survey that we conducted. It

looks like the school prefers Adidas more than Nike which is not what we

expected after seeing all the people who wear Nike shoes around the school

and say it is the best. It was also a surprise because of how popular Nike is in

the US. Thank you for reading.

What is Cassini? It was a spacecraft that was sent to Saturn. It was the fourth

space probe that visited Saturn and it was the first one to orbit the ring planet. Cassini

has orbited Saturn for about 13 years. The Cassini was launch in October 15,1997 and

it was launched from Florida. It reached Saturn on June 30, 2004. It took it about 6

years 8 months and 16 days for it to reach Saturn. Saturn is about 1.3 light-hours away

from the Sun. Cassini studied the planet of Saturn and its moons. In January 2005,

Cassini landed on Titan, Saturn’s largest moon. On September, 15, at 7:55:46 A.M.,

NASA’s spacecraft completed its finial approach to Saturn and dove in Saturn’s planet.

Its mission ended because it ran out of fuel. "This is the final chapter of an amazing

mission, but it’s also a new beginning,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administra-

tor for NASA's Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington.

Bape vs. Supreme vs. Gucci

There are lots of popular clothing brands out there and I decided to do an article

about them because they seem to be pretty relevant right now. The clothing brands I’m

doing are Bape, Supreme, and Gucci. I am going to see which one has the nicest cloth-

ing, cheapest clothing, and most popular clothing.

Let’s start with Bape. Bape stands for Bathing Ape and is a Japanese clothing

store. They sell t-shirts, jackets, shorts, and much more. Some of their popular stuff is

their shark hoodie, shark shorts, and logo t-shirts. If you want to add some Bape to

your collection, then I recommend getting a shark t-shirt. Their clothing can get very

expensive but it definitely looks nice.

Next is Supreme. They opened in 1994 and started as a skate company. Later on,

they made clothing and started getting fame when celebrities would wear their prod-

ucts. My favorite item made by them is their Bogo t-shirt. Bogo stands for “Box Logo”

and they can go for hundreds of dollars each. Do watch out though because there is

lots of fake Supreme out there and I recommend buying from a trusted source.

Finally, we have Gucci. Gucci not only is known for their clothing but also for their

wallets, belts, and other accessories. Their logo is a red milk snake that is on a lot of

their products. This snake is a sure sign that it’s Gucci. One of my favorite things that

Gucci has are the Gucci slippers. They look really nice and have the Gucci colors on the

top.

In the end, the results are really up to you. Do you want to spend more money

for better quality or just buy a cheaper product with a nice brand featured on it? My fa-

vorite has to be Supreme just because I really like the Bogo t-shirt.

iPhone X By: Derek Parks

As everyone has heard, the all new iPhone X has been released. It costs $1,000

and comes with features like face recognition and the back is made out of glass. The

iPhone’s facial recognition has it recognize your face when it is in front of the screen

and will unlock when it recognizes it. The phone charges wirelessly where you just

put it on top of the charger, and if needed with other things and the iPhone X tells

you when each thing is done and its percent. The camera has improved and it has

built in filters for how you would like your picture to look. Talking about the camer-

as, the iPhone X has three different cameras on it for different purposes. The new

emoji you can send to people move it’s mouth with your voice recording so they

hear what you’re saying. Your voice can be transformed to different objects like a

monkey or alien. There will be no home button because it will be built into the

screen. The iPhone X is also waterproof so you

can push your friends into pools or take pictures

underwater.

You heard that right, the water of Long Island is completely

gone. Hurricane Irma has destroyed everything in its path, rag-

ing through the Americas. Normally hurricanes destroy build-

ings with wind and floods but the Bahamas have had it worse

than most with the complete opposite.

Hurricane Irma is so strong that is completely re-shape the

ocean. “I am in disbelief right now…” @Kaydi_K wrote. “This is

Long Island, Bahamas and the ocean water is missing!” It

happed on September 8th and 9th in Long island, Bahamas and

has begun to suck away from the coast of Florida.

Even though this is very dangerous, you have to admit this

phoneme is very cool and amazing to look at. But this makes you

think, where is the water going? What is happening is that when

the pressure is very low and the winds are very strong, it

can create a bulge of ocean water in the eye, or center, of the

storm. So anything at the eye is underwater. The water has re-

turned to its correct space though, so don’t worry.

CT’s Favorite Gaming Consoles By: Jack Davoren and Ethan Durham

Video games are a great way to pass the time or just play for

fun. But what is the best gaming console? Today, the most well-known

consoles are; Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo. Every console has its

differences.

The Xbox One has a better ventilation system which makes the

Xbox One nearly never overheat. It also has a larger base storage ca-

pacity. The PS4 has slightly better graphics and you can play PS4 using

a PS-Vita. The Nintendo’s games don’t have to download when you put

it in for the first time. It is also small and portable.

In our opinion, Xbox One is the best console. We feel this way

because the games rarely crash or log you out. The Xbox is also very

organized and its home screen is a basic setup. We went out to ask

people what their favorite console was and some peoples responses were

quite outdated.

Halloween is the holiday of costumes

and candy. Going around trick or treating

and getting buckets full of candy. But what

is Halloween really about?

Halloween was started 2,000 years ago with an “ancient Celtic

Festival of Samhain.” During the festival people would light bonfires

and wear costumes. The costumes served to keep ghosts away. Hal-

loween marked the end of summer and the harvest.

The Samhain festival was the one time of year that the Celtic’s

believed the boundary between the human world and the dead’s

world was broken. This time of year was also associated with human

death. The Celtics believed that when the ghosts came to earth they

would ruin crops, cause trouble and help priests see into the future.

When the spirits and ghosts did come back, The Celtics would

leave a place at the table for their deceased loved ones. They would

also leave treats out on the doorsteps for them. They believed that

this would help the deceased find their way back to the spirit world.

Minecraft is a game where you can build a virtual world and survive.

Roblox is a game that’s kind of like Minecraft and Lego’s put together. Based

on the results, Minecraft is more popular than Roblox. However, a lot of the

people we interviewed didn’t like Minecraft or Roblox. Most people wouldn’t

play Minecraft or Roblox so technically the real winner is “Neither”. But, in-

stead of saying none of them won, we will say Minecraft is more popular than

Roblox because it has more votes than Roblox.

Have you ever wanted to make your Minecraft world more interesting? You

should try modding! In case you don’t know, modding is when you add content

made by fans of the game to the game you’re playing. With modding, you can do

We went to 5 classes to give people a survey to see what kind of

cake people liked. We surveyed 7 people and all of their answers were

different. The results were that everyone likes a

different type of cake and there were 2 cakes that

seen or heard of before, you can

try it! You can figure out the cakes you have never

heard of before and try them so they can be your fa-

vorite.

This month, Burke and I went around the school and asked students what

they would do with $1,000,000. Some were smart, some wanted to spend

it all. Others didn't really understand how much a million dollars is. Any-

Logan Meyers said he would buy a new phone, donate to the poor, buy

a puppy, buy a car and save some.

Drake Cowan said he would buy a pool, start a business, buy a new

phone and pay off all his parents bills.

Quinn Westrope said he would build a basketball gym and workout ar-

ea for his house, lots of Mexican food and water park (clearly he

doesn't understand how much 1,000,000 is).

Hayden Johnson would buy a house, shoes, cars, get a new hairline

and get a sundial.

Luke Hlasney would simply give someone a small loan of a million

dollars (shout out to Donald Trump)
