Criterion A: Initial Consultation

Interviewee and position: Steve Weinrich, head manager of Lee’s Summit Physicians Group (LSPG).Date: August 28, 2012

Describe your business.

LSPG is a privately run doctors office, owned by the doctors, that sees children from the time they are born until they turn 18.

How does your business inform people about the flu currently?

Our practice currently informs the public through informational resources on our website and through face to face consultation with their doctor.

What other ways are you considering to inform the public?

I believe that an informational video over the flu would be a good idea. This would provide a more direct way to inform the public.

Would you have any concerns about the project?

I want to make sure the information is accurate. I will provide you with the accurate information that I would like you to use.

Criterion A: Initial Investigation

The Problem

Compared to their competition, LSPG is rather large. In order to inform the public of the flu, LSPG relies upon face to face consultations and written information accessible on website. However, LSPG would like to get more people aware with something they can use in the waiting rooms.

Inadequacies of the Current Situation

LSPG has expanded over the past few years. This fact has created a need for an informational video that will more effectively get the word out about the flu. As an IB ITGS student, I offered to solve his IT problem and make an informational video.

Criterion B: Analysis

proposed solution:

An informational video about the different types of flu produced with imovie.

Requirement Specification

IT system requirements

• Hardware –PC with Internet connection, 4GB RAM and 500 GB internal hard drive, external hard drive for backup• Software –Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and iMovie for video editing and Adobe Photoshop and iPhoto for image editing, web browser (i.e. Firefox) for searching for information and images, music software

System Interaction

• Compatibility of Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 and Photoshop of the HP computers in the school lab.Compatibility of iMovie and iPhoto of the Apple computers in the school lab.• Compatibility of the USB flash drive with the school HP and Apple computers.

Input/ Output Requirements

Input requirements• Images are pictures taken from previous Lee’s Summit Physicians Group events. Images are digital from personal cameras or are taken from the existing website. • Video footage taken from the AAP(American Academy of Pediatrics), The CDC (Center for Disease Control) and YouTube.• Music files taken from CDs and the internet.

Output requirements• Appropriate sections of the video (Introduction, information about influenza; provided by Lee’s Summit Physicians Group, information about the vaccine and where it can be accessed, Closing)• Appropriate length of the video (3-5 minutes long)• Consistent and professional transitions between images and video footage.

Page 4: ITGS Claire Goppert.docx - workstory.s3.amazonaws.com€¦ · Web viewThis fact has created a need for an informational video that will more effectively get the word out about the

Processing

• Create the video using Adobe Premiere and iMovie.• Edit images in Photoshop and iPhoto and import in Adobe Premiere and iMovie.• Import video footage and edit it Adobe Premiere and iMovie.• Use songs from a CD or download from the internet and place in Adobe Premiere and iMovie.• Time the songs to the video.• Save the project on my USB flash drive.• Burn onto a DVD for the client.

Security

• Saving on the hard drive of the school computer and on my USB flash drive.• Add password and security restrictions.•Saving the project every 15 minutes.

Specific Performance Criteria

The effectiveness of the Lee’s Summit Physicians Group video can be evaluated by:a) To what extent the informational video addresses the interests of the client, Steve Weinheartb) The effective flu information used in the videoc) To what extent the audience has an increased knowledge of what one knows about the influenza and the vaccine provided for it.d) The synchronization of the music with the video clips and pictures.e) Citing the sources of all pictures and video footage.f) Appropriate titles and credits.

Justification of Chosen Solution

The informational video is the best solution to address the needs of Steve Weinheart and the Lee’s Summit Physicians Group. The informational video can be easily placed in the waiting rooms to convey the updated information from the APP and CDC. Furthermore, though it is a short video, it is an entertaining video that conveys all the information about the influenza and its vaccine as well as where you can receive more information about the virus and where the public can access the vaccine.

The alternative solution would be to stay with the updated website and assume that is enough for public access to the influenza. However, this is the businesses current situation and it is proving to be less efficient. The informational video is more convenient.

Most of the resources needed for the video are easily accessible. The Lee’s Summit Physicians Group has provided the needed information and the guidelines on the video. Furthermore, my school provided Apple computers with Adobe CS6 software to create

Page 5: ITGS Claire Goppert.docx - workstory.s3.amazonaws.com€¦ · Web viewThis fact has created a need for an informational video that will more effectively get the word out about the

the video.

Finally, I have a good working knowledge of the Adobe software and the Apple software that I will use. I have used Adobe Premiere CS6, iMovie, iPhoto, and Photoshop on smaller projects. I am looking forward to making this video.

He is willing to provide feedback before I finally burn the video onto the DVD. Overall, I believe that this video is the best solution because it is convenient, informative, and entertaining.
