Design ReviewDesign Review• Launched: November last year• Goal: to arrive at new baseline design this year through
endorsement by the ITER Council• Involves all fusion community• Will intensify the involvement of all stakeholders in the
ITER Project • Procedure:
– Until December 2006, experts from around the world have contributed possible design issues through issue cards.
– 8 working groups have collected and prioritized the issue cards and are preparing a workplan to resolve them.
– The workplan was reported to a Technical Advisory Group in April.
– Baseline Design 2007 is due to be delivered to the ITER Council / Science and Technology Advisory Committee in the third quarter of 2007.

Interactions with the HostInteractions with the Host
• In order to lay a solid foundation for the start of IO, two critical agreements with the Host, the French Government, were already concluded, which will need approval of ITER Interim Council:
• Site Support Agreement• Headquarters Agreement
• IO is in discussion with the Host on the protocol for the International School.

International School (IS)International School (IS)
• French Government and PACA Region will build a new school building at Manosque by summer 2009.
• Lycée des Iscles next to the site of IS was chosen to host IS from September 2007 with capacity of 200 pupils from age 3 to 18.
• Protocol between French Government (Ministry of Education) and IO will be formalized later.

• For the benefit of the development of ITER project, the negotiations of several international cooperation agreements are currently underway:
– Cooperation Agreement with IAEA– Cooperation Agreement with CERN– Cooperation with Monaco

Full establishment of ITER Full establishment of ITER Organization Organization
• Ratification process of the ITER Agreements within all Parties is to finish soon.
• Full establishment of ITER Organization as International Legal Entity is expected this summer.
• The first ITER Council Meeting is scheduled on November 28-29, 2007 at Cadarache.
