INTRODUCTION

Computing technology is ubiquitous, in the form of computers, tablets, smartphones, the web, cloud computing, email, text messages, social media, and much more. It is centrally relevant in the careers and lives of increasingly more people. Computing is the ultimate mental amplifier- computers can mechanize any intellectual activity we can imagine. It has changed the world more than any other invention of the past hundred years. Yet, we are just at the beginning of the computing revolution; today's computing offers just of glimpse of potential impact of computing.The FDP on “Computing Technologies- A Panoramic View” will provide a basic foundation on the concept of various computing technologies. This course provides a hands-on comprehensive study of various computer applications, communication and networks. This programme also provides practice on databases and hands on experiences on robotics.

IMPACT - EXPECTED OUTCOME

The major focus of the FDP is on upgrading the teaching, training, and research skills of IT faculty and giving them an opportunity to acquaint themselves with recent developments in computing technologies.

The present Faculty Development Programme (FDP) shall broadly cover the following aspects;

· Managing data with Excel· Working with formulas and functions· Applying logic in decision making· SQL commands and statements· Join and sub queries· Using built in functions· Program structure to control execution flow· Introduction to adhoc networks· Mobile adhoc networks· Advanced Network Security· Software Security· Worms, Viruses and Bots· Foundations of Privacy· Introduction to wireless network sensors· Categories of Networks· Use of big data from WSN· NS3 installation, Basic simulation code on NS3· Introduction to components, Assembly of Boe-Bots and PBASIC· Navigation, LED single colour, bi-colour and advanced navigation
