NEWS LETTER 2019 Infectious Diseases of Companion Animals ; Non- Infectious Diseases of Ruminants ; Non-Infectious Diseases of Companion Animals ; Diseases of Wild, Zoo, Exotic Animals and Avian Medicine ; Advances in Diagnostic Approaches in Animal Diseases ; Diseases of Other Animal Species and Complementary, Alternative Medicine and Veterinary Forensic Medicine. Around 418 delegates/participants from different parts of the country attended the conference. During the three days of symposium, 22 lead papers were read and 225 abstract presentations (both oral and poster) were made. At the end of the busy scientific session of the first day, an attractive entertaining cultural programme was organized, which was highly appreciated by the delegates. The Valedictory function of the convention was rd held on 3 February, 2019. Prof. Vishnu Sharma, Hon'ble Vice - Chancellor, RAJUVAS, Bikaner was the Chief Guest of the event. Exotic Animals and Avian Medicine ; Advances in

Around 418 delegates/participants from different

parts of the country attended the conference. During the

three days of symposium, 22 lead papers were read and

225 abstract presentations (both oral and poster) were

made. At the end of the busy scientific session of the first

day, an attractive entertaining cultural programme was

organized, which was highly appreciated by the delegates.

The Valedictory function of the convention was rdheld on 3 February, 2019. Prof. Vishnu Sharma, Hon'ble

4. Sri Mathunga Jain Gowrasath Mandali Gold Medal For

Bovine Medicine.

The award will be given to life members of ISVM in

recognition of his /her contributions in the field of Bovine Medicine

during last 5 years in the form of quality research, clinical

publications, generating innovative ideas and development of newer

techniques.

The applicant for the award should be of minimum 45 years

of age as on 1st January, 2020. The research work done in the field of

the Indigenous Veterinary Medicine during last 3 years shall be taken

in to account for the year of the award.

6. Dr. P.K. Das Gold Medal

The award shall be given to a Life Member of ISVM in

recognition of his/her outstanding contributions in the field of Clinical

Toxicology/Small Animal Medicine during the last 5 years in the form

of quality research, clinical publications, generating innovative ideas

and development of newer techniques.

This award is conferred on the basis of rich contribution in

the area of teaching, research and other activities in the field of

Veterinary Medicine. The award is open for Life Members above 32

years of age and below 45 years as on 1st January, 2020.

The award will be conferred to an applicant, who has

completed 5 years as Life Member of ISVM and is of minimum 45

years of age as on 1st January, 2020. The award will be given in

recognition of his/her meritorious research contributions during the

past 10 years in the field of Veterinary Medicine especially in the area

of the management of infectious diseases in animals.

7. Smt. Ava Roy Gold Medal

This award is open to the Life members of ISVM towards

teaching, research and related activities in the field of Poultry

Medicine.

This award is open to the lady Life Members of the Society

for their outstanding contribution in teaching, research and other

academic activities in the field of Veterinary Medicine.

5. S.K. Mylsamy Gounder Gold Medal for Poultry Medicine

8. Award of Fellowship of Indian Society for Veterinary Medicine

(FISVM)

This is the most prestigious award conferred by the Society

to its Life Members in recognition to their outstanding achievements

in the field of Veterinary Medicine, commendable service for the cause

of Veterinary Medicine and their significant contribution to the

Society. ISVM Fellowship will be awarded only to those individuals

who have completed 10 Years Life Membership and are having

Master's degree in Veterinary Medicine/Preventive Medicine/Clinical

Medicine. The applicant should hold the rank of Professor or

equivalent, or Associate Professor or equivalent with PhD degree and

15 years of service experience. The fellowship is awarded to the

person of high professional standing. The application for FISVM is

required to be submitted along with comprehensive information about

academic and professional achievements, distinguished published

work/contributions in the field of Veterinary Medicine in 300 words. A

demand draft of Rs. 2000/- in favour of “Indian Society for

Veterinary Medicine” payable at Tirunelveli, must be enclosed

along with the application as required fee for consideration of

application for Fellow of ISVM. The unsuccessful candidates will be

refunded this amount.

IV. The awardee should give an undertaking through the guide

about submission of his/her thesis in stipulated time.

I. There shall be two ISVM Merit Awards annually – One for a

student pursuing Ph.D. degree in the discipline of Veterinary

Medicine and another for a student pursuing M.V.Sc. degree

in the discipline of Veterinary Medicine (Veterinary

Clinical/Preventive Medicine).

III. The applications shall be evaluated by the Committee

nominated by the President/General Secretary.

9. INTAS Young Scientists Award

V. The award shall be presented at the ISVM convention in the

form of cash prize (in the form of DD/Bankers cheque) and a

certificate. VI. The awardee must submit the findings of his/her research

work to the ISVM office for records and further dissemination, if felt necessary. If the awardee is not able to submit his/her M.V.Sc./Ph.D. thesis in the stipulated time, the awardee has to refund the award to the ISVM.

It is a competitive award open for Young Scientist/Teacher,

who has been a Life Member of the society and is below 32 years of

age as on 1st January, 2020. The cut - off date for the eligibility will be

the academic year only. Those candidates who have completed their

degree programme (2018-2019) on or before 31st October 2019

(including viva voce examination) shall be eligible. Entries in

quadruplet typed in double space on bond paper, with unpublished full

length research paper, photocopy of proof of age are required to be

submitted along with certificate from the Head of the Department

verifying the place of research work and year during which the work

was carried out. The research work to be presented for this award

should not find a place as abstract in the proceedings of the

convention. Only the author name will be given on the manuscript

who will present the paper himself/herself. Evaluation will be based

on the quality of the research work and oral presentation during the

38th ISVM Annual Convention at Bengaluru, Karnataka. The

candidates whose applications are rejected on technical grounds such

as over age, late receipt of the application, etc. during screening will

not be allowed for oral presentation during the convention.

II. The value of award for a Ph.D., and M.V.Sc. student shall be

Rs. 5000/- and Rs. 4000/- respectively to be given once

during the degree programme. The applications for the award

should be duly recommended by the guide and forwarded by

the Head of the Department concerned.

This award is open to the Life Members of ISVM who are

working in the field and catering animal health services at grass root

level. The award is conferred based on the merit of the work and his

/her presentation at the 38th Annual convention of ISVM at

Bengaluru, Karnataka. The entries in quadruplet are required to be

submitted along with full length clinical papers.
