    From the Middle School Office

Weekly Publication for Middle School Parents

    Dear Parents:

This week has been an eye-opening, mind-broadening experience for

the Middle School students. From working in the community garden to

kite flying to creating murals, ISM and visiting students were actively

engaged and forging new relationships. As the children return from

their Classroom Without Walls (CWW) trips, we hope the memories

will live on and motivate the students to think more carefully about

how they can contribute to the community. Our students have a

wealth of talents and energy to share, and we encourage them tocommit to sharing their time with others in need. We thank all the

teachers for their dedication and efforts to provide a range of

enriching experiences for the students. It was a week well spent!

Please take some time to engage your child and discuss ways that your

child can build on the experience. Its important that the learning

does not end with the conclusion of the CWW week but that the spirit

of service continues to be nurtured.

For parents of Grade 8 students a meeting on the Transition to High

School is scheduled for Wednesday, February 23 from 5:30 6:30 P.M.

in the Little Theater. High School Guidance will present useful

information and we encourage you to attend.

On Thursday, February 24 we will host a MS Parent Coffee starting at

7:45 A.M. in the Little Theater. The topic of discussion is connecting

and communicating with your child. We hope you will join us.

Recently, the government declared that the anniversary of the EDSA

Revolution would be observed on Friday, February 25. As you may

well appreciate with the number of events and activities that occur at

ISM, we plan the school calendar months in advance and do our best

to schedule holidays accordingly. Last minute changes are extremely

difficult to make. In light of the recent declaration, please beadvised that on Friday, February 25 we will run a normal school

schedule. As printed on the school calendar, there will be no classes

on Monday, February 28 to observe the anniversary of the EDSA

Revolution and on Tuesday, March 1 due to a faculty in-service day.

Classes resume on Wednesday, March 2.

    Dear Parents

A regular reminder please check that your childs vaccinations are up-to-date. This is the first line of

defense against a number of serious diseases and I encourage you to visit your pediatrician if you feel that

your child may be due for any vaccinations.

The following link will give you access to current US vaccination schedules which may be used a guide. Most

countries have similar schedules and advocate a similar regime. If in doubt, please visit your pediatricianor ask at the school clinic for contact details if you do not already have a pediatrician.
