RINGING IN 2017

G reetings to all Members and welcome to a brand new year! As we enter 2017, we reflect on the year that was. 2016 was

undoubtedly a wonderful year for us. We have affirmed our position as Asia’s finest marina and enhanced the experience here at the Club for our Members. Similarly, 2017 holds many exciting possibilities for us. I am greatly enthusiastic about bringing the Club to greater heights in the months ahead.

C L O S I N G 2016 I N S T Y L E Before we stepped into the New Year, we closed the chapter for 2016 with a bang. The festive celebrations began with the ONE15 Christmas Boat Light Parade™. This year’s parade was extra special – we entered the Singapore Book of Records as the Largest Parade of Decorated Boats. We also complemented the parade with a truly happening party. Read more about the night on page 12. My heartiest congratulations to all parade winners!

O U R N E W A M B A S S A D O RI am excited to share that ONE°15 Marina is starting off the year with a piece of good news. We have appointed our first ONE°15 Ambassador and he is none other than Singapore’s Olympic Champion, Joseph Schooling. Joseph has exemplified all the qualities the Club hopes to promote – perseverance, determination and a drive for excellence. As we realise our vision of becoming the

world’s best marina, Joseph’s Olympic triumph is inspiring. Find out what went on during the appointment ceremony on page 20.

The festive season at ONE°15 Marina was an extravagant affair as the Club pulled out all the stops to show Members and guests a good time. The reveling began early in the afternoon with the Rock the Boat party,

where partygoers climbed aboard ONE15 Luxury Yachting’s fleet for eight hours of non-stop partying. On the cruise towards Lazarus Island, they got on their feet and danced to music by live DJs, then splashed in the sea and indulged in exhilarating fun with a host of water toys.

Later in the evening, Members and guests gathered at the Club’s lobby for the annual Christmas Tree Light Up. At the intimate gathering, carollers from Anglo Chinese Junior College serenaded guests and filled the air with melodic Christmas tunes. A Bubble Performer mesmerised attendees with a fascinating show, engaging the little ones to take part. As always, the Christmas Tree was lit in a dramatic manner. Arthur Tay, Chairman of SUTL Group, was invited to perform a bubble act. As he waved the wand, the lights on the Christmas Tree came on, bathing the Club in a magical glow.

As the night sky turned darker, a total of 20 yachts bedecked in extravagant Christmas lights formed a flotilla and set sail from ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove to Harbourfront Cruise Bay. This year’s parade was a memorable one. For one, the flotilla entered the Singapore Book of Records for the Largest Parade of Decorated Boats. Amongst the participants were also a group of special guests. As part of ONE°15 Marina’s community outreach to share the festive cheer, boy scouts as well as a group of NKF patients and their caregivers were invited to join in the fun and experience the parade.

As the yachts passed by iconic locations such as Siloso Beach and Resorts World Sentosa, they were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd that had packed the viewing decks of VivoCity. The crowd cheered and waved wildly as the boats cruised into the bay, where a panel of judges awaited. The competition was stiff. Boats were judged on a set of six criteria namely creativity, complexity of lighting, prominence of the festive theme, overall presentation of lights as well as crowd engagement. Participants gave their all, eager to take home a prize.

Meanwhile, a party was ongoing back at the Club’s premises. Attendees were treated to a sumptuous buffet dinner and all-night free-flow beer as guest DJs Jade Rasif and Tinc helmed the decks. Entertainment acts including a fire artist, a roving magician and LED lights stilt walkers created jaw-dropping spectacles that thrilled the crowd. Guests got into the spirit of the party by getting their faces painted with glow-in-the-dark paint. Others browsed uniquely curated artisanal products at the holiday market organised by Sentosa Cove Resort Management.

After intense competition, the boats returned back to ONE°15 Marina where the winners of the parade were announced. Emerging victorious was Island, a 62ft powerboat that walked away with the Best of Show prize. Island was awarded with a 45-hour boat polishing service worth $3500, cash of $3000 and berthing credits at ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove worth $1000. Ten other boats of varying sizes that placed first and second in the different categories walked home with cash totalling $15,000, berthing credits totalling $3,750, deluxe wine samplers, boat polishing services and more.

The power packed evening ended on a high note with a lucky draw. Those with lady luck on their side took home attractive prizes such as Maserati and Ferrari merchandise, Sony sound systems, a luxurious stay at ONE°15 Marina’s Monte Carlo suite as well as dining vouchers at LATITUDE Bistro and WOK°15 Kitchen.

As the night came to a close, it was evident that the event was a true success. Good food, good entertainment and good company made for a great festive gathering. Coupled with an impressive array of festive lights, the Club was truly a magical destination to bask in the joy of the holidays.

SPIRIT OF THE SEAOur Brand Story

2017 IS A SPECIAL YEAR FOR ONE°15 MARINA SENTOSA COVE. IN SEPTEMBER, THE CLUB WILL MARK OUR 10TH ANNIVERSARY. AS WE CELEBRATE A DECADE OF NAUTICAL LIVING,

A FITTING NAME ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove was born out of the desire to build the region’s marina of choice. That vision has come true with ONE°15 holding the title as Asia's best marina. Getting to the Club is easy. The Club is accessible from various boating destinations all over the world – just head one-degree and fifteen minutes north of the equator. If that sounds familiar, it is because the Club’s strategic location is precisely how its name was derived. ONE°15 Marina, a unique name aptly associated to the marina’s location, evokes the spirit of the nautical world and stays in the minds of many. As we build an ecosystem of marina properties around the world, each marina will also bear the ONE15 name as a reflection of the brand’s beginnings in Singapore.

A SYMBOLIC SCULPTUREStep into the Club and you’re greeted by The Armillary, a specially commissioned sculpture that has sat at the Main Entrance of ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove since its opening. This exclusive sculpture plays an important role. It embodies the spirit of nautical adventure and the aesthetic allure of yachting that ONE°15 seeks to promote. Interestingly, the sculpture is able to tell the time through the shadow of the gnomon cast onto the glass hour band. This gnomon is set to an angle of 1°15, representing the latitude of the Club. In the past, armillary spheres were used as observational instruments to peer into the night skies. Hence, the sculpture also represents the tradition of enquiry and discovery that the Club hopes to encourage.

A UNIQUE NUMBERINGToday, ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove has emerged as more than a world class marina. It also brings close to Members the experience of the luxury waterfront lifestyle. Those who seek a relaxing abode by the water can check into one of the 26 bedrooms and suites at the Club. These guest rooms are similarly numbered to the Club’s name. In place of regular numbers, you’ll find door numbers like 2°15 and 3°15. From the moment you reach your room’s door, you’ll get the feeling of leaving the city behind and entering a serene waterfront oasis.

A CELESTIAL INSPIRATIONBefore modern technologies existed, stars played an important role in sailing. As the positions of certain stars are fairly constant, in the olden days, sailors out at sea used them as a navigation tool. There may be newfangled tools today, but stars are still a part of a sailor’s life. As the sky darkens and you’re far out at sea, it’s a quiet pleasure to spot a star shining in the sky. With this in mind, the Club’s function rooms – Constellation Ballroom, NOVA Room and Bar Nebula – are named after stars. Hence, the Club’s facilities are an extension of ONE°15’s nautical spirit.

LIFE OF THE PARTY Get to know ONE°15 Marina’s new Events Manager – the bubbly and enthusiastic Fenella Findlater.

F enella steps into LATITUDE Bistro with a smile on her face. Amidst the chitter chatter of the lunch crowd, she fills the Bistro with her presence. She gives a little

laugh as she readies herself for a chat with Longitude. “I don’t really like talking about myself,” she admits.

Nonetheless, Fenella exudes a sense of genuine warmth, warmth that no doubt will help her build good rapport with Members. She talks about her journey towards events management, her plans for ONE°15 and what she does on weekends.

Hi Fenella! If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be?I would say positive, energetic and sociable. I love being out there, meeting new people and listening to their stories.

Have you always been involved in events management? After graduating from school, I was lucky to land my dream job as a flight attendant with Qantas. It was a very taxing job but I absolutely loved it. It was also how I discovered that I really like being in the service line. Eventually, I left Qantas in search of something more long-term. That was when I moved to Singapore and started a job as Commercial Assistant with the Singapore Yacht Show.

Tell us more about your time with the Singapore Yacht Show (SYS)!I was involved in events and visitor promotions. It was a lot of meeting with guests and VIPs and ensuring that events like the gala dinners went smoothly. I had a really great time with the SYS team. It was a good environment to work in and good exposure for me as well. I know a lot more about boating now!

How is the experience at the Singapore Yacht Show different from how it is here at ONE°15 Marina? The biggest difference is that ONE°15 Marina is a membership club. So there’s a more personal touch involved. You see the same faces around and it’s all about making sure everyone feels welcomed here. Members should feel like a part of a close-knit community, and my job is to make the Club an exciting place for them to visit.

Could you give us a sneak peek of some of the events you are planning for Members?I’m working towards bringing in more family-oriented activities. A lot of our Members have families so it would be great if we could get them to come down to the Club together. For example, I’m planning to organise a Sunday afternoon barbecue by the pool.

We had feedback that kids really enjoyed the giant inflatables we had in the pool for a couple of events. So we’re thinking of bringing that back and have a barbecue to go along with it.

We are also looking at revamping the menu at Boaters’ Bar and I’m hoping to start trivia nights there. Once a month, the entire family, including the kids, could come down and just have fun together.

What do you think makes a good events manager? Of course, you need to be very organised. You also need to keep calm under pressure. You might have a vision in your head but things usually never run how you want them to. But when you see people smile, it’s a really good feeling to know that you put that smile there. The event might not have gone the way you imagined it to go, but if people are having a good time, that’s the only thing that matters.

What are some of your favourite spots at ONE°15?Boaters’ Bar has really good parties on Fridays. That’s where I usually am on Friday nights and it’s great to see our Members there. Other than that, I really like the Infinity Pool. Overall, the Club is such a beautiful place and it’s really amazing to know that this is where you work.

When you’re not at work, where can we find you? Actually, I never leave the island! (laughs) I live on Sentosa as well and I have a great group of friends here. Occasionally we take a boat out to sea just to relax. Otherwise, I’m probably dining at some of the restaurants in the area. Sometimes I bump into Members but it’s really lovely to catch up with them and hear their thoughts on events at the Club. As much as I have all these ideas, at the end of the day, it’s about what they want to see. A lot of them have great ideas, and they’re always welcome to share them with me!

ARTHUR TAY, CHAIRMAN OF SUTL GROUP, PRESENTS THE ONE°15 BURGEE AS A GIFT TOKEN TO JOSEPH SCHOOLING

INTRODUCING THE FIRST ONE°15 AMBASSADOR

ONE°15 Marina is proud to announce the appointment of our first ambassador – Olympic champion and national hero, Joseph Schooling. The appointment was officially marked at a special

Joseph Schooling made history when he became the first Singaporean to win a gold medal at the world’s pinnacle sporting event, the Olympics. Aside from beating

his childhood heroes, Joseph also smashed the Olympic record with his timing of 50.39 seconds in the 100m butterfly event. His determination and excellent sportsmanship is inspiring and on 24 November 2016, our national hero was formally instated as ONE°15 Ambassador.

In the midst of a packed schedule of public appearances, Joseph arrived at the Club accompanied by his parents, Colin and May Schooling. He was received warmly by Arthur Tay, Chairman of SUTL Group. The pair engaged in conversation and took in the view of the marina from the Club’s lobby before proceeding to Bar Nebula where the appointment ceremony was held.

At Bar Nebula, Joseph was greeted by a warm round of applause. The ceremony commenced with a speech by Arthur Tay. Conveying ONE°15’s pride in having Joseph as Ambassador, he expressed, “ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove has its eyes set on becoming the pinnacle of excellence and Joseph’s Olympic triumph hits close. His perseverance

to become the world’s best is in line with the Club’s vision, making him the perfect candidate to represent the Club.”

To congratulate Joseph on his appointment, Arthur presented Joseph with a gift token in the form of a plaque bearing the ONE°15 burgee. The efforts of his parents did not go unrecognised. Acknowledging that Colin and May Schooling have been instrumental in raising a national athlete, the Club presented both parents with a ONE°15 Marina Sentosa Cove Membership in recognition of their contribution.

Meanwhile, 10 kids from Yvonne Swim School were eagerly waiting for their opportunity to meet their idol. A special treat was lined up for them. In a bid to inspire the swimmers of the next generation, a one-on-one signing and photography session with Joseph was organised. The kids managed to get their copies of Joseph’s new book, “Hello, My Name is Joseph Schooling”, signed by the hero himself. They were then invited to snap photographs with their idol as a memento of the day.

To wrap up the afternoon, Arthur Tay took Joseph and his parents on a tour of his yacht, Hye Seas II. In the meantime, guests retreated to light refreshments, their spirits high from the jubilant occasion.

A SPOOKY HALLOWEEN AFTERNOONK ids had a spooktastic time at the Club’s

annual Halloween celebration, held on 30 October 2016. The afternoon began

with a Magic Show at the Kids’ Playroom that kept the little ones intrigued. Following that, they took part in some warm up games to ease them into the day’s activities.

Once energy levels were high, the kids engaged in an imaginative role play activity. They were also taught a dance routine which they performed for their parents afterwards. To conclude the day, the little ones went trick or treating around the Club’s premises to scour for candy.

Every year, kids are encouraged to dress up for the party. Clad in their Halloween best, this year’s Too Cute to Spook Best Dressed Competition winners were James Thomson and Federica Aramburu Castelli. All little ghoulies were also rewarded with a Certificate of Participation to take home as a memorabilia of the day.

New Year New ArtA NEW YEAR CALLS FOR THE DISCOVERY OF NEW ART. WHETHER YOU’RE LOOKING FOR AN ARTWORK TO SPRUCE UP YOUR HOME OR A NEW PIECE TO ADD TO YOUR COLLECTION, LONGITUDE PROFILES SOME OF THE BEST GALLERIES IN TOWN.

Southeast Asian artists. Today, it continues to champion the representation of these artists on the international stage. After all, with Southeast Asian art, there’s always something interesting to find.

“The dynamic changes in the Southeast Asian region are reflected best in the art scene. The region is newly independent, and the main art movements within most of these countries started more or less in the 1940s,” shares Jasdeep Sandhu, Director of Gajah Gallery. “With the increasing wealth of the region we also find amazing contemporary art being produced as the various societies go through different periods of conflict.”

Just last year, the gallery moved to a new 6,000 sq ft space in Tanjong Pagar Distripark. The sprawling space holds an extensive collection of works including paintings, large sculptures and installations.

Mizuma Gallery sits in Singapore’s vibrant contemporary arts enclave, Gillman Barracks. It was first established in Tokyo in 1989 before expanding to a second space in Beijing in 2008. Sensing a growing potential in Singapore as a focal point within the East Asian marketplace, Mizuma Gallery opened a third space in the country. The gallery presents artists from Japan and Asia with a unique voice, whose works cherish the cultures of their native countries.

Gallery Owner Sueo Mizuma cites an example. “Emerging from the post World War 2 period of hardship and peace was a new generation of Japanese artists who came to treasure the refinement, excellence and cultural legacy of Japanese art,” he shares. “These post-war art movements exerted a huge influence on the art which followed. Their works bring world attention to key elements of Japanese aesthetics and its minimalistic ideals. Today, this aspect of Japanese art is a key part of its enduring value.”

Amongst the gallery’s roster is Eguchi Ayane. Her imaginative works transport the viewers into a whimsical world. Yet, this whimsical world is more than meets the eye. Also represented by the gallery is Shintaro Ohata, an artist known for seamlessly blending sculptures with canvas to create dreamy 3D scenes inspired by childhood memories.

REDOT FINE ART GALLERY www.redotgallery.comLocation: Old Street Police Station, 140 Hill Street, #01-08Type of art: Australian and Indigenous Art

Art is more than a piece of work. It is also a slice of history. With this in mind, ReDot Fine Art Gallery was founded in 2004 to bring a rare type of art – Indigenous Australian Art – to the region. Today, it prides itself as the only gallery in the region dedicated to showcasing some of the most collectable and sought-after Indigenous artworks. Aside from representing Australia’s most acclaimed and significant Indigenous artists, the gallery strives to educate the public about the traditional art form.

“Our artworks allow buyers and collectors to procure a little bit of Australia’s deep and rich Indigenous culture,” shares Giorgio Pilla, Director of ReDot Fine Art Gallery. “Through proceeds that keep the community sustainable, buying Indigenous art is also a means of giving back.”

Since 2015, the gallery has also started to represent some of Australia’s most noteworthy and emerging non-Indigenous artists in a conscious effort to explore the inter-connectivity between the two art movements. Its goal is to not only provide Singapore with stunning and collectible artwork, but to ensure that the voice of the Australian people continues to speak to future generations.

Art Buying TipsHear from the experts!

“Knowledge is key. Visit art institutions and galleries to acquire some form of knowledge about the art form and the current market. Half the joy of collecting stems from knowledge.”

– JASDEEP SANDHU, DIRECTOR OF GAJAH GALLERY

“See as much work as you can. Only when you find an artist that really interests you should you consider buying. It is important, and enjoyable as well, to follow the artist’s career to see how the works have evolved and what new directions they take.” – SUEO MIZUMA, GALLERY OWNER OF

MIZUMA GALLERY

“Buy art you enjoy and those that tease and challenge your perspectives of normalcy each time you view them. If the opportunity arises, meet the artists and make a connection with them.” – KHAIRUDDIN HORI, CURATORIAL DIRECTOR OF

CHAN HAMPE GALLERIES

“The top priority when you decide to purchase an art piece is that you love what you buy. Don’t look to buy an investment but try to buy something that will age with you and become part of the fabric of your life. Only then can you get true value out of the art you buy.” – GIORGIO

THE REUNION DINNER IS A TIME-HONOURED TRADITION THAT CELEBRATES FAMILY AND TOGETHERNESS. HERE’S HOW TO MAKE THIS YEAR’S

GATHERING THE BEST ONE YET.

Guide to Reunion Dinner

1. PLAN IN ADVANCEThe yearly meal brings together the entire family – parents, grandparents, children and grandchildren. With multiple schedules to coordinate, having everyone present may be a little difficult. One way to avoid this is to give everyone a head’s up by planning in advance. Picking a date out sooner also means you’ll be able to make an early reservation. After all, restaurants tend to get more crowded as the Lunar New Year approaches.

2. EAT OUT WITH A VIEWElevate your meal by opting to dine at a restaurant that boasts a spectacular view. Make a reservation for the family at WOK°15 Kitchen for a serene waterfront scenery. The menu this season features a range of delectable Cantonese cuisine that will delight the taste buds. Depending on your group’s size and preference of dishes, choose from three different menus – the Prosperity Set Menu, the Abundance Set Menu or the Longevity Set Menu. The break away from the city will also have you feeling refreshed and recharged for the year ahead. Before you leave, take the yearly family photo with the marina as a backdrop.

3. HAVE A COSY GATHERING AT HOME Traditionally, the reunion dinner was always held at home. Although it is more common today for families to eat out, holding the gathering at home has its benefits. It allows for a more intimate gathering without the typical crowd that comes with dining at a restaurant. The atmosphere will also be more casual and relaxed. And without table restrictions, you can have the flexibility of inviting friends over in addition to family members.

5. MAKE A LIST OF “LUCKY FOODS” Aside from being scrumptious, dishes at the reunion dinner table are eaten for their symbolic meaning. These dishes are meant to usher in luck, fortune and prosperity for the year ahead. For example, fish or 鱼 yu symbolises abundance while noodles or 长寿面 chang shou mian symbolises longevity. To make sure you don’t leave anything out, make a list of lucky dishes to have on the table. Or refer to our chart below to help you out!

4. THE AUSPICIOUS NUMBER IS 8!In Chinese culture, there is usually an even number of dishes on the table. In particular, the number eight is regarded as auspicious. Eight, or 八 ba in Mandarin, has the similar pronunciation as 发 fa, meaning wealth or fortune. So when you’re planning the menu, consider picking out a total of eight dishes. Then serve them on round plates, a symbol for completeness of the family.

Bite into good luck and fortune with these dishes!

6. DON’T WORRY ABOUT LEFTOVERSHaving too much on the table is never an issue when it comes to the reunion dinner. So go ahead and have a feast. In fact, leftovers are an auspicious symbol of abundance for the coming year. To avoid wastage, if you are dining out, get the restaurant to pack up the food for you. If you are dining in, let your guests take home some dishes.

7. TOSS TO PROSPERITYRound off the gathering with a toss to prosperity. The Yu Sheng platter should be heaping with ingredients like strips of fish, carrot, radish and condiments. The process of tossing the ingredients in the air is called Lo Hei, Cantonese for “tossing up good fortune”. The exciting (and sometimes messy) activity is fun for the entire family and will bring lots of joy and cheer.

8. ENJOY THE TIME TOGETHER Lastly, don’t forget to take a moment to cherish your time together. The reunion dinner happens only once a year and is the perfect time to catch up with family members and enjoy each other’s company. No matter how hectic planning the dinner may be, the memories made will always make it worthwhile. After all, the spirit of Lunar New Year is all about the happiness of family.

If there’s one thing that lures travellers to Langkawi, it is the archipelago’s natural beauty. Gorgeous beaches, dramatic mountainscapes, lush rainforests and legendary rock formations are just some of the many reasons to visit.

An activity that no visitor should miss is touring Langkawi’s stunning geoparks. The Kilim Karst Geoforest Park, located on the northeast tip of the island, is a stunning collection of geosites. A boat ride takes visitors along the serene Kilim River, past gigantic limestone rocks and through dense mangroves. The tour of the geopark also lets you get up close and personal to some of the area’s rich fauna. Langkawi’s famous reddish brown eagle, the mascot of the archipelago from which it got its name, hovers in the sky. Keep your eyes peeled for the white-bellied sea eagle, monitor lizards, fruit bats, tree crabs and macaques as well.

A panoramic juxtaposition, the innovative man-made Langkawi Sky Bridge sits amidst lush natural landscape. Measuring around 125m in length, the bridge ranks amongst the world’s longest curve suspension bridge and receives many visitors through the year. It swings out over the surrounding landscape to give visitors a unique spatial experience, bringing you over and around the mountain

BEACH ESCAPERawa Island

If you long for sun, sand and sea instead, head to Malaysia’s Rawa Island. Located off Mersing in Johor, the island is easily accessible from Singapore. The trip begins with a bus or car ride from Singapore to Mersing. Following that, you will need to hop on board a ferry from Mersing Jetty that takes visitors to the island. The entire journey spans around approximately four hours.

At Rawa Island, time stands still and nature reigns. Silhouetted by a coastline of powdery white sand, this lesser-known island is home to unspoiled pristine beaches. There is also a profound sense of peace. Only two resorts sit on this tiny island, so the crowd here is significantly lesser than that of larger beach destinations.

Spend your weekend relaxing on the beach, basking in the tropical sun, napping in hammocks or swimming in the clear turquoise water. The resorts rent out snorkelling equipment for guests who wish to explore the nearby coral reef. For the more adventurous ones, kayaks are also rentable for venturing around the island’s surroundings.

FAMILY FUNPuteri Harbour, Johor

The school holidays may have just ended and the kids are back in the classroom. This doesn’t mean you can’t take them on a quick holiday. Located just over the causeway in Johor, Puteri Harbour is an up and coming tourist destination. Aside from the marina, residential, entertainment and commercial complexes are being built on this waterfront precinct to cater to future tourists.

As more developments pop up in the area, Puteri Harbour is already a draw for families, especially for a day trip. With two theme parks for kids – Sanrio Hello Kitty Town and Thomas Town – it’s a great place to take the little ones for a weekend of fun. The rides, interactive activities and shows at the two theme parks provide an immersive learning and play experience for all kids to enjoy.

Situated near to Puteri Harbour is also the country’s first international theme park, LEGOLAND® Malaysia Resort. LEGOLAND® is where imagination comes to life. It immerses the young and the young at heart into a LEGO® filled world consisting of over 70 rides, shows, hands-on activities and other attractions. Don’t worry about having to leave the toddlers at home. Most of the rides are gentle, so they are suitable for kids as young as two. Nonetheless, more thrilling rides are also available for the enjoyment of older children.

DIVING IN TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN PARK

SUTERA HARBOUR RESORT

OUTDOOR WONDERKota Kinabalu

Sabah’s capital city deserves a spot on the list. After all, it’s the home of one of Southeast Asia’s tallest mountain – Mount Kinabalu – and is also surrounded by some truly mesmerising islands. Such spectacular nature spots make Kota Kinabalu a treasure trove for outdoor activities.

A weekend trip may not be enough to scale the peak of Mount Kinabalu. Nonetheless, it’s worth a visit. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mount Kinabalu is known worldwide for its tremendous botanical species. Some visitors choose to hike the trails located at the base of the mountain. The activity will allow you to breathe in some refreshing mountain air, without the gruelling climb to the top.

If you’re more of a water person, island hopping is also a recommended activity in Kota Kinabalu. The Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park, a cluster of five small islands off the coast of Kota Kinabalu, surrounds the city. Namely, the islands are Gaya Island, Manukan Island, Sapi Island, Mamutik Island

and Sulug Island. The islands are all located within a short boat ride from each other. The park is teeming with marine life and diving will bring you close to sumptuous coral gardens. You may even encounter rare species like the blue-ringed octopus, black-tip reef shark and shape-shifting cuttlefish.

During your stay, put up at the Sutera Harbour Resort, a reciprocal club of ONE°15. Nestled between the shores of the South China Sea and the majestic Mount Kinabalu, Sutera Harbour Resort guarantees a memorable and luxurious stay. It offers a choice between two five-star hotels – The Magellan Sutera and The Pacific Sutera. Golf enthusiasts can tee off at the championship golf course located on the waterfront property. Dining options include the Marina Café, an open-air restaurant with a spectacular view of the sea and sunset.
