THE FMF WAYFor over 45 years, Flemington Midget Football has provided instruction and support to thousands
of successful athletes. During that time, we have developed a unique culture, based around five
core beliefs that guide everything we do. “The FMF Way”, is what al lows us to successful ly
develop our athletes physical ly, mental ly and emotionally while providing them with positive
experiences and memories that wil l last a l ifetime. THE FMF WAY is:
FAMILYOnce a member, always a member
SAFETYAthlete safety first, last & always
TEACHINGCoaching is teaching
TEAMWEJ not me
SUCCESSShare the work, share the reward
Team success is a by-product of coaches developing every athlete to their personal potential as
they progress through the program. Good teams become great when coaches view practice as an
opportunity to help their athletes grow and develop and when athletes view practice as an
opportunity to maximize their contribution to the team.
No one can win by themselves. We all have to trust and rely on each other for the team to be
successful. Both coaches & athletes must be prepared to do whatever is necessary for the good of
the team. Great teams are built on Teamwork, Dedication, Effort and Trust. . . lessons that wil l help
our athletes succeed in sports and in l ife.
I t is every coach’s responsibi l ity to teach the fundamental ski l ls and strategies of their sport to ALL
of their athletes. I t is every athlete’s responsibi l ity to put forth the effort to learn. I f an athlete gives
the effort, coaches must do whatever is necessary to help them learn and improve. Athletes that
progress through our program giving honest effort WILL enter high school with a competitive
advantage in skil ls and tactics
The health and safety of our athletes comes before everything else. Parents trust us with their
chi ldren; we must do everything in our power to return them safely. Athletes must let their coach
know if they are injured and must not return to action unti l they are ful ly ready.
Whenever an athlete competes as a Pioneer or Jr. Red Devil , they join a long tradition of
excellence. Many have come before us; we must honor their work by our actions. Many wil l come
after us; we must provide them with a program to be proud of. Once an athlete becomes part of
our FMF family, they wil l forever be welcome here.

TRYOUT
Flemington Midget Football is a 501 (c)3 organization dedicated to improving the youth of Hunterdon Countythrough competitive Football and Cheer. One of the oldest youth football organizations in the area, from our
founding in 1 967 through 201 0, FMF teams were exclusively known as the Flemington Pioneers. Since 2009, wehave undergone tremendous growth and have reclaimed our original name of FMF. In 2009, we added ourextended season competition cheer team. In 201 0, with the addition our Hunterdon Jr. Red Devils teams, ourfootbal l offerings were expanded from four football teams participating in one league to ten football teamsparticipating in three leagues. In 201 3 we were able to offer, for the first time, an Extended Season CheerTraining Squad for girls who were either too young or not yet prepared for the rigors of our Extended SeasonComp. Team. Thoughout al l of our recent growth, we have worked hard to stay true to our guiding principles ,"The FMF Way", and maintain our position as the premier youth football and cheer program in the central
Hunterdon region.

PIONEER VARSITYPioneers Qualify for Playoffs with Offensive Explosion
At the start of the weekend, the Flemington Pioneer Varsity
footbal l squad was on the outside of the WCMFL playoffs looking in,
hoping for an upset win over the fourth seeded Steele Hil l Bul ldogs to
gain a coveted invitation. On Saturday night, the Pioneers kicked the
door down and announced loudly that it was THEIR party now. The
Pioneers wowed the homecoming crowd by exploding for 7 touchdowns
while the defense held the potent Steele Hil l offense in check on the
way to a 50-25 rout.
Quarterback Justin Torres led the offense with one rushing touchdown and four touchdown
passes, extending his consecutive-game TD streak to six. Four different players scored for the
Pioneers through the air, on the ground and on special teams. Brian Torres hauled in two touchdown
passes while Jordan Cameron and RJ Thornton caught one touchdown pass each. Dan Furmato
brought the homecoming crowd to their feet with a 40-yard punt return and Thornton chipped in a
rushing touchdown to seal the game.
After a rough start, the Pioneer offense got on track by converting a
third-and-11 with a 25 yard pass from Torres to Furmato. From there, the
offense marched down the field behind the bone-crunching blocking of Ryan
Donovan, Jeff Anderson, Colin Campbell and Vincent Tozzi. Justin Torres
capped the drive with a two yard run, putting the Pioneers up 6-0. The high-
powered Bulldog offense answered quickly with a l ightning fast 3-play
touchdown drive, and the first quarter ended with the Bulldogs clinging to a
7-6 lead.
The game turned on a sequence of possessions in the second quarter.
First, Brian Torres streaked past the Steele Hil l defender and caught the high-arching pass from his
brother for a 30-yard score. Furmato’s kick put the Pioneers up 1 4-7. On the next
possession, the swarming Pioneer defense jarred the ball loose and Brian Torres
pounced on it. Seizing the momentum, Coach Eggemann went to the air. Jordan
Cameron caught the Torres pass along the left sidel ine, broke two tackles, and
sprinted to pay dirt. On the next possession, the gang-tackling Pioneer defense led
by Wil l iam Markey, Pasquale Vizzoni, and Joey Whalen forced a Bulldog three-and-
out. Furmato gathered the punt, pinballed off a
series of Bulldog defenders and raced to the
end zone, expanding the Pioneer lead to 28-7.
With less than a minute remaining in the second
quarter, the Pioneer defense relaxed ever-so-sl ightly, and the
Bulldogs seized the opportunity, scoring on a long touchdown pass
and closing the gap to 28-1 3 as the first half expired.
Undaunted, the Pioneers dominated the second half by continuing

PIONEER VARSITYtheir offensive onslaught. Torres connected with RJ Thornton and Brian
Torres for third quarter scores. Thornton capped the scoring early in the
fourth quarter with an exclamation point by rumbling straight through the
Bulldog defense for a 36-yard score. The defense stifled the Bulldogs
hopes for a comeback as Jake McPherson and Anthony Dempsey
blanketed the frustrated Bulldog receivers while Justin Metcalf and Jaylaan
Taylor combined with the rest of the Pioneer swarm defense to give the
Bulldogs nowhere to run inside. Alex DiMartino, Grant Bloch, Josh Gabriel
and Taylor iced the game with tough running behind the punishing blocks of Sammy Amon, Frank Dolan,
Justin Portnoy, Andrew Wil l iamson, Christian Smarz, and Myles Hickey.
With the win, the Pioneers (5-3) earned the fourth and final WCMFL playoff
spot. They wil l take on the #1 seeded Washington Township Panthers at
Washington Township on Sunday 11 /2 @ 1 :30pm. One thing is for certainQthe
Panthers should be prepared to play a team peaking at exactly the right time.
Best of luck to the boys on Sunday.

In Skylands Varsity action last weekend, the
Hunterdon Junior Red Devils hosted the Ridge Junior
Devils at Stewart field in Flemington. The game opened
with Ridge kicking off and the JRD recovering at their own
20. Chris Schwoerer opened the series with a run to the
26. On 2nd down, Luke Pizzico in at QB handed off to
Schwoerer again who drove another 5 yards to the 31 for a
1 st down. On the next play, Luke Bakarian, behind the
blocking of Jason Cozzi, Mike Sposato, Nick McClel lan, Max Kurdlya and Tim Hough rambled
for 44 yds down to the Ridge 25. On 1 st down, under pressure, Pizzico's pass was picked off
and returned to the Ridge 25. Ridge drove down to the JRD 1 6 just as the 1 st quarter ended.
Ridge started the 2nd quarter by scoring on the first play from 1 6 yds out. The extra point
was good and Ridge opened an 8-0 lead. On the kickoff, the JRD returned to their own 35. On
the first 2 plays from scrimmage, Ridge's defense stopped Schwoerer for no gain and a 2 yd
loss. A 3rd down penalty against Ridge gave the JRD
5 yards up to the 38. Schwoerer ran to the 44 to
setup 4th and 1 . The JRD, deciding to go on 4th,
handed the ball to Bakerian who plowed straight
ahead behind Chris Lalas, Kurt Rainey, Jake
Saracinel lo and the rest of the JRD offensive l ine to
the 46 for a 1 st down. On 1 st down, Schwoerer was
stopped for a 2 yd loss and Bakerian picked up 2
yards back to the original l ine of scrimmage. On 3rd
down, Schwoerer picked up 5 yds, leaving a 4th and 5. Pizzico came on to punt and sent Ridge
back to their 20, where it was fielded and returned 80yds for a touchdown. The extra point was
good and Ridge led 1 6-0. Ridge kicked off to the JRD 43. A first
down loss to the 38 and Schwoerer's run for no gain brought up 3rd
and 1 5. An incomplete pass and a Pizzico punt sent Ridge back to
their 1 9. Ridge, attempting a pass, was picked off by Cozzi at the 27
with a minute left in the half. But the JRD was unable to get into the
end zone and the half ended.
The 3rd quarter started with the JRD attempting an onside
kick. The special teams unit of Alex Sias, Randy Behn, Randy Yang,
Bakerian, Cozzi, Pizzico, Totten, Callahan, Schwoerer, Kurdyla and
Rowan Quintero rushed to the ball , but Ridge recovered on their own
49. The Ridge drive was stopped at the JRD 25 when Kurdyla broke
up a 3rd down pass at the 1 0 and the l ine of Sposato, Cozzi,
Bakerian and Hough forced an incomplete pass on 4th down. The JRD took over at the 25.
Totten now in at QB, hand off to Pizzico who ran to the 27. A penalty on Ridge moved the ball
up to the 40. On 2nd down, Bakerian gained 5 to the 45. But a penalty moved the ball back to
the 35. Another penalty, this time on Ridge, moved the ball up to the 45. Sti l l 2nd down,

Schwoerer was stopped for no gain. Pizzico then picked
up 2 yds to the 47. On 4th down, an incomplete pass
gave the ball back to Ridge on the JRD 47 & the 3rd
quarter ended.
In 4th quarter action, another Ridge drive was
halted by the stubborn defense of Bakerian, Hough,
Saracinel lo, McClel lan, Lalas, Cozzi, Sposato, Rainey
and Callahan up front, while the secondary of Quintero,
Schwoerer, Jaiden Taylor, Totten and Kurdyla blanketed
the Ridge receivers. Ridge punted down to the JRD 1 5. The offense got started with Schwoerer
gaining 8 yds to the 23. Bakerian picked up 2 and a 1 st down. Schwoerer's run to the 27 was
fol lowed by a screen pass to Schwoerer that was good for 1 2 yds to the 39 and another 1 st down.
A false start on the JRD moved the ball back to the 34. A
fumble was recovered by the JRD for a loss back to the 30.
An incomplete pass and a nice 3rd down run by Pizzico to
the 44 setup 4th and 5. Tottens pass to Schwoerer was
caught just out of bounds, but was ruled pass interference on
Ridge and the JRD had a 1 st down at the Ridge 40. An
incomplete pass and great reception by Pizzico at the 23
gave the JRD their best scoring opportunity of the night. With
less than a minute to go, Totten spiked the ball on 1 st down
to allow time to set up the next play. A couple incomplete passes and a short gain was all the JRD
could do before time ran out. Final score Ridge 1 6, JRD 0.

What a game! What an amazing, intense, loud, rowdy game!! The JRD Peewees took on a tough Ridge Blue
Devils team in Basking Ridge, New Jersey this past weekend. Two of the JRD key linemen, Wyatt & Walter Ditzig,
unfortunately were unable to make the game. Running backs, Cole Gray and Jorden Craddock, fi l led in for them in their
absence. The JRD jumped out in front of Ridge early in the first quarter when Brian Dempsey handed the ball off to
Joey Valentino who ran a sweep right and then turned back left for a 50 yd TD. The JRD were unable to add the extra
point. The Jr. Red Devils led 6-0.
On the first play of the 2nd quarter, Ridge scored a touchdown to tie the score. Ridge kicked an extra point,
giving them an 8-6 lead. Both teams were able to move the ball in the 1 st half, but penalties, turnovers and great
defensive plays stopped their drives. In the 1 st half, Joey Valentino forced a fumble, which was recovered by the JRD.
Jack Brunetti also picked off a Ridge pass and ran it back about 1 0 yds. With about 20 seconds left in the 1 st half,
Ridge ran a sweep left for 23 yds. Valentino made a game saving tackle on the JRD 5 yd line as the half expired. Ridge
led 8-6 at the half.
There was just something in the air that fueled the kids and our fans in the 2nd half. The fans got louder and
louder, cheering on the kids & the JRD responded. Ridge and the JRD exchanged possessions during the 3rd quarter.
The JRD received key runs from Dempsey, Cole Gray, Jakob Saus, Tommy Brunetti and Craddock and great blocks
from Shane Sull ivan, Daniel Reina, Bennett Cayero, Zachary Ghanim, Jacob Tocci, and Kevin Li.
Early in the 4th quarter, the JRD defense, which consisted of Jacob Tocci, Connor Gray, Mateo Brito, Craddock,
Evan Amato, Valentino, Wil l iam Cella, Saus, Cole Gray, Dempsey, Tommy Brunetti , Jack Brunetti , Ghanim and Cayero,
made Ridge turn the ball over to the JRD on downs. On the next possession, Cella started things off with a 23 yd run,
moving the ball to the Ridge 32 yard l ine. Valentino and Cella exchanged touches, moving the ball down to the Ridge
1 2 yd line. As the JRD moved the ball downfield, the crowd got louder and louder. The crowd was unbelievable, pacing
back and forth on the sidel ines as the kids moved the ball downfield. Joey Valentino then ran it in for a 1 2 yard
touchdown, giving the Jr. Red Devils the lead 1 2-8.
The Jr. Red Devils were pumped up. They stopped Ridge on their next possession, causing them to turn the
ball over again on downs. The JRD then held on to the ball , methodical ly moving it downfield on an 11 play drive. The
JRD turned the ball over to Ridge on downs at the Ridge 31 yd l ine. The kids knew that this would be the last drive for
Ridge with time running out on the clock. Ridge called a pass play and had a receiver open. As the ball was just about
in the Ridge receiver's hands, Cole Gray dove and stretched out in a horizontal position and batted the ball away as
time expired. I t was simply an amazing game!
Joey Valentino led all runners with 1 25 yards and Wil l iam Cella added 96 yards on the ground.
The Jr. Red Devils won the game by a score of 1 2-8. The JRD Peewees are now 6-1 -1 in the standings. In their
final game, the Jr. Red Devils wil l take on Del Val at home at Hunterdon Central High School.

The Flemington Pioneer Flag Football Team
ended their season on a high note with a 4-2 victory
over the Steele Hil l Bul l Dogs at the FMF complex on
Saturday. The Pioneers played valiantly throughout
the game under the strong leadership of Coaches
Joe Pasquale, Dave Ball , Mike Contaldi, Marc Hicks,
Brian Picariel lo, and Bob Fiore. The Pioneers came
on strong with an 80-yard touchdown by Joey
Pasquale on the 2nd play of the game. Major stops
were made on the Hulk Defense by Joey Rawlins,
Kasey Kinsley, and Dylan Blackmore. The Pioneers
struck again when Connor Hoffman took the snap on a quarterback keeper to score another
touchdown. The Pioneers maintained their
formidable defense as Andrew Cella, Brody
Picariel lo and Ray Johnson kept the Bull Dogs at
bay with their tackles. The Bull Dogs eventual ly
squeezed out a long run, but Cade Contaldi shut
down any chances of a score with a touchdown
saving tackle. The first half ended 2-0 for the
Pioneers.
The Bull Dogs answered back early in the second
half with a touchdown on their first possession, however,
Ethan Washington quickly responded with a 60-yard
touchdown on the very next play bringing the score to 3-1
Pioneers. The Pioneers continued to prevent any scoring by
Steele Hil l . Successive runs were made by Ned Johnson
and Tucker Hicks before Ethan Washington made another
run for a 4th Pioneer score. Though Steele Hil l was able to
make one more touchdown, it was not enough to stop
another victory for the Pioneers. Final score Pioneers 4,
Steele Hil l 2. Great season boys!

JAMES L. "JIMMY" WILSONOur Number One Fan
Jimmy Wilson left a lasting memory with everyone who visited Pioneer Field throughout the 1 980's and early1 990's. While his wheelchair kept him from taking part on the field, it couldn't keep him from being part of theteam. At the end of every summer, l ike the changing of the seasons, Jimmy was there to usher in footbal l
season. He was as much a part of the Pioneer family as the crack of pads echoing through the crisp autumn airand the roar of the crowd on game day. For close to a decade, Jimmy never missed a game, indeed, he nevermissed a practice in al l of his time with us. His love for the game and for the team was infectious and wil l beforever remembered. In 1 994, after his passing, the organization recognized Jimmy's contribution to our family
by naming the playing field after him and retiring the number one jersey, in memory of their #1 fan.
JOSEPH YASHKAS6/4/85 - 4/29/00 : Forever a Pioneer
Joey Yashkas was a Pioneer through and through. He played football for the program and was a greatteammate and a key member of the team from his peewee days through his eigth grade season. As much ashe loved football and his teammates, Joey also loved racing motorcycles. I t was this love that took Joey from usfar too soon. After the tragic motorcycle accident that took his l ife in 2000, the organization retired his number55 and decreed that in remembrance of Joey and Jimmy, their numbers 1 and 55 be painted in the corner of the
endzone for every home game so that they wil l always be part of our family.
