Grand Knight’s Message William Keenan

It’s Christmastime again. It’s a time of cheer and good company. There are presents to buy and trees to decorate. But let’s not forget what Christmas truly is. It’s when we celebrate the birth of Christ. It’s a time of Love, Peace, and Hope. This Christmas season, remember those who are in need or don’t have anyone to celebrate with. We usually buy a lot a material goods as gifts, but perhaps the greatest gift we can give is love. Born this day in the City of David is a savior, Christ the Lord. He came for peace, brought hope, and even died because He loved us so. Treat everyone with kindness, compassion, and dignity. We are Chris-tians, we are Knights. Merry Christmas!

Chancellor’s Report - Joseph Keller

The month of November was another busy one for me. It started on November 2nd with 6 men taking their 3rd Degree at St. Joan of Arc Church, David Glassman, Brian Hughes, Anthony German, Clarence Stanley, Charles Smith, Jr. and Christian Ejoh. On November 5, at Bishop Sebastian Peter Elmos, Humberto Felizzola and Thomas Scheve took their 1st Degree. Then, on November 15th at Holy Trinity Council, Mark Appleby took his 1st & 2nd Degree, along with Humberto Felizzola and Thomas Scheve taking their 2nd Degree. Our quota is 14, we now have 10 new men. The Star Council Award is still very possible, so continue to carry the form 100 or the 921A Card. I hope you had a happy thanksgiving and I wish you all a blessed and joyous Christmas.

Have You Insured Your Most Valuable Asset?

Is your income protected if you become sick or injured and cannot work? Your ability to work and earn an income is your most valuable asset. Yet a disability could prevent you from earning that in-come. Just one year of a disability could eliminate your savings.

Income Armor, an individual disability income insurance product from the Knights of Columbus, should be a key part of your overall financial plan and family’s protection.

If you are ill or injured, Income Armor provides tax-free monthly benefits to help you meet living expenses and maintain you and your family’s standard of living. Your monthly benefits help you

pay your mortgage and other monthly bills, while your savings and retirement assets remain intact.

In short, if you have a job and don’t have a way to protect that paycheck, you should seriously consid-er Income Armor today. I look forward to meeting with you. Don't loose those things your have work for because you didn't act.

Family Report Tom Stevenson Jr.

The Festival of Trees by Pat Stevenson For many years before I retired, my Company was/and still is a Corporate Sponsor of the Festival of Trees and I helped design and decorate their tree. Then we found out that Keith Connor was a Santa there and had been decorating a tree. Thom and Keith asked the Council to sponsor a tree. I continued to help with the com-pany tree and the guys decorated a tree in the name of the council. As the designs grew more complicated and the DOSEAS wanted to get involved, we started getting a tree for the council, a tree and a wreath for the DOSEAS, and a wreath for our clown group. Now the public demand to decorate trees has grown and the large trees require a $50 donation just to reserve our spot. You need to pay and reserve the tree the Tuesday after Labor Day. Thom and I sit at the computer watching the count down to the open-ing of registration. The trees sell out and this year, the festival had so many registered donations, they would not accept any wreaths or small trees “at the door”. Since registration is a little demanding and more complicated, I also add two smaller wreaths to the DOSEAS order. Our older granddaughters decorate a 4 foot tree and the two younger ones each decorate a 2 foot tree.

Waiting on date from the facilities.

(Continued from page 3)

Even though the whole order is under the DOSEAS, our family and clown friends pay for and decorate all but the two 7 foot trees and one wreath. This means that the total number of “free” tickets for the Council and Ladies is limited to the ones provided for the two larg-

er trees. With all the tickets together, we are able to provide for two small families that wouldn't otherwise be able to afford to go, a family with the husband/dad in a wheel chair, a large family who had a grandchild in Kennedy Krieger and all of the helpers that give up their Sunday morning to get the two large trees decorated in a fashion worthy to be sold. Yes “a fashion worthy to be sold”. As those of you who have been there know, an under decorated tree is listed at $125 and seldom sells. For several years, our trees did not sell. (they do get donated to area nursing homes/schools/hospitals). Last year we got it right and both trees sold. This year with some extra trimmings bought at last year’s after Christmas sales, both trees sold by Saturday morning for $200 each. The DOSEAS large wreath sold for $40. We welcome all Council members and their families to come help with the deco-rating. It is a fun social activity. We now have a “Professional Fluffer, light placers and a decoration preparation assembly line!

We already have started working the sales for 2019.
