iSET Overview
iSET is a tool to Devise, Execute and Optimize a business-centered strategy for IT asset management. It allows you to visualize the risks and costs in your IT portfolio from a business-process perspective. It does this by:
linking your software assets with the business processes that utilize them and the hardware hosting those assets
grouping assets into Invest, Retain and Retire based on business criticality, technology infrastructure, complexity, cost and other definable parameters
providing multiple views of technology health including Application Development, Database, Platform, and Integration layers
tracking the evolution of your asset management strategy over time and planning for future optimization
Business Processes Applications Servers
Problem Statement
IT Service Domain Managers need to track and manage the lifecycles of hundreds of assets
Managers need to predict critical business-process impacts from potential technology disruptions
Cost management and platform simplification imperatives require hard decisions to be made
Teams and systems are geographically distributed, critically impacting knowledge management
To devise, execute and optimize a strategy requires a standardized enterprise tool to track key attributes and interdependencies of IT assets:
A multi-dimensional approach of capturing asset-related information (Financial, Technology, Vendor, Security, etc.)
A method to map high level IT strategy to remediation opportunities on specific assets
Historical and future trend data for key attributes of IT assets for strategy tracking and optimization
Benefits
With iSET, you can:
ensure your technology spend is aligned with business priorities
ensure your remediation plan has identified all available retire/replace “low-hanging fruit” opportunities
predict the future-state technology health that will be produced by your IT asset optimization strategy
track and validate your technology and service-provisioning health over time and identify out-of-compliance areas that need special attention
predict the specific business-unit and business-process impacts that would result from potential technology disruptions, at both the application and server level
