• Securitysales.com predicts a market of $42 billion USD by 2019 with a compound annualgrowth rate for IP-based video surveillance in particular of 24.2 percent from 2013 to2019.

• Many factors have been cited to explain the rise in demand for video security systemsincluding:

▪ Increased threat of terrorism, crime/violence prevention

▪ The rise in the “Internet of Things” (IoT) and Big Data

▪ new applications such as commercial advertising (Imagine as you walk into a mallthe system “recognizes” you, allowing delivery of various context-appropriateadvertising tailored to your typical buying habits

• Higher resolution is always better in surveillance video. It allows those monitoring thevideo feed to see smaller objects, or to see people, license plate numbers, and other

elements more clearly.• 4K video cameras are already making significant improvements in security. With high

resolution, these cameras can be placed at considerable distances from the area theymonitor and still allow digital zoom to pick up small objects. In one instance, a cameralocated two miles from a city center can be digitally zoomed to pick up license platenumbers.

• Some estimates are that a single 4K camera video feed, with modern video compression, needs about 15 Mbits/sec minimum of bandwidth (without video compression thebandwidth need is much higher).

• Powered fiber cable systems - is a great option for handling long-distance data transmission, but what about also delivering power?

• A powered fiber cable system (PFCS) addresses the need for local power as well as the need for fiber data connectivity. The PFCS incorporates a optical-fiber termination point, a hybrid cable that includes both singlemode and multimode fiber and electrical conductors, and a remote termination node that plugs into the camera being powered.

TiniFiber® Introduces All-in-One Hybrid Fiber + PowerMicro Armor Fiber™ Cable for Security CameraSolutions - 04/7/2018

This plenum-rated power in the jacket fiber optic cable is designed for an all-in-onecable solution for security camera connectivity. Using Micro Armor Fiber™ technology, the outer diameter (OD) of this cable is minimized, enabling the most efficient use ofspace and materials. The cable consists of aramid strands and 12 to 48 multicolored250μm fibers packaged in a high performance PVC jacket. TiniFiber® can customize thepower solution for all projects based on the type of source equipment used, such asmega-pixel cameras, etc.

“TiniFiber® provides market-leading technology that minimizes the OD of the MicroArmor by deploying a stainless steel, tubular coiling process that adds maximum tensilestrength and bend radius with an OD that is similar to conventional fiber optic cablehousing. This Micro Armor Fiber™ core cable offers unparalleled bandwidth potentialfrom 1 to 144 strands for both single and multimode usage,” stated Roman Krawczyk,Chief Technical Officer for TiniFiber’s product line.

Krawczyk continues, “Cost value proposition is something taken very seriously atTiniFiber®. TiniFiber® will add value to every project as the de facto “best in class”Micro Armor Fiber™ solution. Any security solution can benefit from the installation ofTiniFiber® into their project. The security industry can have confidence that the systemwill not fail or be disrupted due to the cable installation.”

Available in a variety of glass types and strand counts, the

fiber component is designed as needed. The “Power

Cables” can be 2, 3 or 4 conductor with 12 AWG to 22

AWG options. The basic construction is two (2) strands of

Singlemode Fiber with 18 AWG/2 conductors all under one

Fiber optic cables are the most popular mediums for both new cabling installations and upgradesincluding: backbone, horizontal, and even desktop /home applications. Fiber offers a number ofadvantages over copper.

1. Less Power: Fiber optic cabling uses less power and provides less signal degradation thancopper cables.

2. Greater Bandwidth: Fiber provides more bandwidth than copper and has standardizedperformance up to 100 Gbps and beyond. More bandwidth means fiber can carry moreinformation with greater fidelity than copper wire. Keep in mind that fiber speeds are dependenton the type of cable used. Single-mode fiber offers the greatest bandwidth.

3. Speed & Distance: Because the fiber optic signal is made of light, very little signal loss occursduring transmission, and data can move at higher speeds and greater distances. Fiber does nothave the 100-meter (328-ft.) distance limitation of unshielded twisted pair copper. Fiberdistances depend on the style of cable, wavelength and network. Distances can range from 550meters (984.2 ft.) for 10-Gbps multimode and up to 40 kilometers (24.8 mi.) for single-modefiber cable.

4. Security: Your data is safe with fiber cable. It doesn’t radiate signals and is extremely difficult totap. If the cable is tapped, it’s very easy to monitor because the cable leaks light detecable. Anyattempt that is made to break the physical security of your fiber system, the system will know it.

5. Centralize: Fiber networks also enable you to put all your electronics and hardware in onecentral location, instead of having wiring closets with equipment throughout the building.

10 Reasons Why Fiber Optic Versus Copper Cable

Page 10: ISC EAST EXPO NOV 14/15 A Guide to TiniFibertinifiber.com/zebra-tail/uploads/2018/10/Security-ISc-EXPO-NOV-24-1.pdf · Most Popular Fiber Optic Cable Indoor Fiber Optic Cables Tight

6. Reliability: Fiber provides extremely reliable data transmission. It’s completely immune to manyenvironmental factors that affect copper cable. The core is made of glass, which is an insulator, so noelectric current can flow through. It’s immune to electrometric interference and radio-frequencyinterference (EMI/RFI), crosstalk, impedance problems, and more. You can run fiber cable next toindustrial equipment without worry. Fiber is also less susceptible to temperature fluctuations thancopper and can be submerged in water.

7. Design: Fiber is lightweight, thin, and more durable when armored, than copper cable. To get higherspeeds using copper cable, you need to use a higher grade of cable, which typically have largeroutside diameters, weight more, and take up more space in cable trays. With fiber cable, there is verylittle different in diameter or weight. Plus, fiber optic cable has pulling specifications that are up to 10times greater than copper cable, depending on the specific cable. Its small size makes it easier tohandle, and it takes up much less space in cabling ducts.

8. Migration: The proliferation and lower costs of media converters are making copper to fibermigration much easier. The converters provide seamless links and enable the use of existinghardware. Fiber can be incorporated into network in planned upgrades. In addition, with the adventof 12- and 24-strand MPO cassettes, cables, and hardware, planning for future 40- and 100-GbEnetworks is easier.

9. Field Termination: Although fiber is still more difficult to terminate than copper, advancements infiber tools have made terminating and using fiber in the field easier. Quick fusion splicers enables withauto-alignments enable fast splicing in the field. Auto-aligning pins ensure accuracy. And the use ofpig-tails and pre-terminated cable make field connections quick and easy.

10. Cost: The cost for fiber cable, components, and hardware has steadily decreased. Overall, fiber cableis more expensive than copper cable in the short run, but it may be less expensive in the long run.Fiber typically costs less to maintain, has less downtime, and requires less networking hardware. Inaddition, advances in field termination technology has reduced the cost of fiber installation as well.

Nov 10, 2015 TiniFiber® by CertiCable wasawarded the U.S. Patent for the ArmoredFlexible Fiber Optic Cable - 11/11/2015

Farmingdale, NY – Certicable Inc., the parent company to TiniFiber® has announcedtoday that the U.S. Patent office has awarded U.S. Patent No. 9,182,562 B2 for thestainless steel micro armor fiber developed to protect the fragile fiber glass within thecable jacket.

“Our Micro Armor Fiber™ stainless steel concept was conceived back in 2011 and we arepleased that the U.S. Patent Office recognizes the invention as ground breaking and willchange the armored fiber optic industry,” stated Christian A. Peterson III, Chief ExecutiveOfficer for TiniFiber’s product line. Peterson continues, “We’re focused on providing best-in-class armored fiber optic solutions to meet the needs of large enterprises, IT,communications, telco, CATV, Pro AV, CEDIA, security and government agencies that areseeking a quality fiber optic cable for both indoor and outdoor usage.”

Barry Skolnick, co-inventor and Chief Operating Officer, states “The TiniFiber’srevolutionary development of Micro Armor Fiber™ addresses both the armor and non-armor cable markets in a single solution.” Roman Krawczyk, co-inventor and ChiefEngineer further elaborates that, “This is accomplished by the proprietary “Micro ArmorMachinery” designed to tightly wind the stainless steel tubular coil around the fiberstrands. This in turn provides the smallest Outer Diameter (OD) of any armored fibercable on the market as well as the same OD for current non-armored fiber cables.”

The solution offers considerable advantages over the conventional Aluminum InterlockingArmor (AIA) widely used today. TiniFiber® Micro Armor Fiber™ cable does not increasethe size of the outer diameter of the basic fiber optic cable.

Smart Choice Press Release

Smart Choice Communications Works with TiniFiber® to Provide Superior Voice and Data Services to Clients

Micro Armor Fiber™ Provides Increased Flexibility While Significantly Decreasing Time and Costs for Cabling Projects

Smart Choice Communications is an end-to-end telecommunications consulting and management company that provides a full range ofinnovative infrastructure design, voice and data solutions, and cabling and wiring services to its growing client roster. The company is currentlyundergoing rapid expansion into the healthcare and retail industries, and Chief Technology Officer Basil Stepanov is always on the lookout for newproducts and services to better serve the demanding technology needs of this customer segment.

Stepanov first encountered TiniFiber® while working on an extensive wiring job for a large television producer. “For this project, speed was of theessence,” remarked Stepanov. “When the client is constantly pushing large files under tight deadlines, it’s our job to make sure everything runssmoothly and with no hiccups. TiniFiber® helps us do just that.”

Since that first installation over a year ago, Smart Choice has continually scoped out TiniFiber® for a wide variety of projects and is workingtowards making Micro Armor Fiber™ the new standard for all cabling jobs going forward. “Micro Armor Fiber™ is tougher than other fiber withouta doubt,” says Stepanov. “It provides maximum flexibility and gives us much more versatility, allowing us to work in large buildings and get aroundbends without worrying about cracking or breaking.”

During some fiber-optic installations there is a need to provide extra protection for the cable due to the installation environment. Thatenvironment may be underground or in buildings with congested pathways. Installing an armored fiber-optic cable in these scenarios providesextra protection for the optical fiber and added reliability for the network, lessening the risk of downtime and cable damage due to rodents, construction work, weight of other cables and other factors.

“We’ve done a lot of installs in large stadiums and schools, and inevitably the client always requests changes a year or more later,” says Stepanov.“When you’re using standard fiber and moving it at an angle, it could potentially break and cost the client tens of thousands of dollars. Bottomline: when fiber breaks in a 100-story building it’s a huge, expensive disaster.”

Working with TiniFiber® has helped Smart Choice save their clients significant time and financial resources. Measuring 65% lighter in weight and75% smaller in size than popular Aluminum Interlocking Armor (AIA) fiber optic cables, Micro Armor Fiber™ translates into more versatility, lowershipping and installation costs, and decreased manpower hours to complete projects.

“When scoping out new technology, the most important thing we look for is how it can help our clients,”Stepanov added. “With TiniFiber, it was a no-brainer.”
