OBJECTIVE

INSTRUMENTATION

This experiment is made possible by Eun Fourier instrumentation: data link, temperature sensors that are tools used at school to improve students’ learning.

The objective consists in simulating the greenhouse effect with the equipment of Eun Fourier.

The instrumentation includes two beakers, transparent film one lamp, two wooden sticks, scotch tape, soil , and two temperature sensors, connected to data link.Data link is connected to pc with a USB cable and finally but no least the Acer-European schoolnet educational netbook.

First you must put the soil in two beakers, then you attach two wooden sticks to two temperature sensors with a scotch tape so that the sensor doesn’t touch the soil. Then you must connect sensor to data link and data link to Acer netbook, so you put the transparent film on one beaker, put the sensor in two beakers and open the multilab program on netbook. Finally you choose the sampling for one sample each ten seconds; then you place the beakers under the lamp and launch the experiment.

In the beaker with transparent film that stops the heat the temperature increases significantly, temperature varies from 27° to 29° in eight minutes. In the other beaker the temperature increases slightly, temperature varies from 26,5° to 28°.With this simulation of greenhouse effect we can deduce that if the earth atmosphere holds the heat we will face global warming!
