Round Table breaking news………. The second annual Manatee Boy Scout roundtable Iron Chef contest was held on December 6 th 2012. This year, the contestants were challenged to create a meal from Thanksgiving leFovers. Pumpkin was the secret ingredient. Prior to announcing the golden Spoon award winners and runnerups, I would like to personally thank the excellent Manatee District Round Table Staff for the planning, hard work during, and cleanup that was needed to facilitate this event. They are Mac Aldrich, Brad Ranney and Gary Breton. Without their help this roundtable could not have been the success that it was. Also, Thanks go to the CovicOms (I mean Judges) Rob Cuthbert, District Commissioner, and Henry Miller, District ExecuOve who, like me, agonized over the decision that was laid before us. As judges we iniOally considered taste, texture, presentaOon, and Omeliness of the meal. Not being able to define a winner using this criteria alone, we expanded the criteria to include cleanup, and finally, would we eat this again, as the final determining factor. Roundtable parOcipants were divided into 2 teams, the clubs and the diamonds; prior to Thursday's meeOng they were informed that they could bring 1 item from home to enhance their meal. Since the team that won did read their email and brought something, this should be a lesson to all of us about the importance of reading emails completely. Runnerup and the winner of the Silver Fork award goes to ……... “LeFover Supreme” by the Diamonds Ed Genewick Troop 22, Thomas (NYLT Staff Member) Troop 111, Anthony Klene (Troop 10), Red Dog (Unit Commissioner), and Ken Seblemeyer (Troop 8).

Round  Table  breaking  news……….

The  second  annual  Manatee  Boy  Scout  roundtable  Iron  Chef  contest  was  held  on  December  6th  2012.

This  year,  the  contestants  were  challenged  to  create  a  meal  from  Thanksgiving  leFovers.  Pumpkin  was  the  secret  ingredient.

Prior  to  announcing  the  golden  Spoon  award  winners  and  runner-‐ups,  I  would  like  to  personally  thank  the  excellent  Manatee  District  Round  Table  Staff  for  the  planning,  hard  work  during,  and  cleanup  that  was  needed  to  facilitate  this  event.  They  are  Mac  Aldrich,  Brad  Ranney  and  Gary  Breton.    Without  their  help  this  roundtable  could  not   have  been  the  success  that  it  was.

Also,  Thanks  go  to  the  Co-‐vicOms   (I  mean  Judges)  Rob  Cuthbert,  District  Commissioner,  and  Henry   Miller,  District  ExecuOve  who,  like  me,  agonized  over  the   decision  that  was  laid  before  us.

As  judges  we  iniOally  considered   taste,  texture,  presentaOon,  and  Omeliness  of  the  meal.    Not   being  able  to  define  a  winner  using  this  criteria  alone,  we   expanded  the  criteria  to  include  clean-‐up,  and  finally,   would  we  eat  this  again,  as  the  final  determining  factor.

Runner-‐up  and  the  winner  of  the  Silver  Fork  award  goes  to  ……...    “LeFover  Supreme”  by  the  Diamonds

Ed  Genewick  Troop  22,  Thomas  (NYLT  Staff  Member)  Troop  111,  Anthony  Klene  (Troop  10),  Red  Dog  (Unit  Commissioner),  and  Ken  Seblemeyer  (Troop  8).

As  a  consolaOon,  their  dessert  was  definitely  a  cut  above  the  other  team's,  and  if  the  compeOOon  was  dessert  only  they  would  have  won  hands-‐down.

And  the  second  annual  Manatee  District  Gold  Spoon  award  winner  is……….Thanksgiving  shepherd’s  pie  by  the  Club  team.

Team  Members  -‐  Ed  Copeland  (Troop  111),  Dave

Shoemaker  (Troop  111),  Bill  Granger  (Troop  108),  Fred  Johnson  (Unit  Commissioner),  and  Jim  Lyons  (Unit  Commissioner).

The  December  topic  for  round  table  was  selected  to  prepare  units  for  the  Iron  Chef  compeOOon  at  our  district  camporee  this  January.    I  encourage  all  award  winners  to  post  their  awards  with  their  unit  and  on  their  troop  boards  at  camporee.    It  could  influence  the  judges  and  impact  your  overall  score  at  camporee!

CongratulaOons  to  all  and  to  all,  thank  you  for  parOcipaOng.

Submibed  by  Mark  Thielen,  Manatee  Boy  Scout  Roundtable  Commissioner.  (Yes,  I’m  sOll  alive  aFer  tasOng  the  meals.)
