A Day toRememberHelen and I wanted our wedding day to
be special as all couples do. We wanted
our friends and family to surround us and
help us celebrate. We had hoped to marry
in a sunny tropical island so we and our
guests could enjoy the wedding as part of
a family holiday. We had considered
various options and Malta and wedding
co-ordinator Sarah Young, Y Plan Events
was recommended to us by a friend. We
decided to investigate and what a
treasure this turned out to be!
From the moment we made contact with Sarah,
any wedding worries or anxieties we had flew
out the window. The fact that we were a same-
sex couple made no difference to Sarah. She
put us at ease and was extremely approachable
and open to our ideas and offered alternative
solutions to suit our budget. Every detail was
arranged via email. We didn’t have to lift a
finger other than to press the send button. This
suited our busy working lives.
As impressed as we were with Sarah and her
team’s preparation and creativity we were
blown away by the setting in real life and the
accessibility to everything from our Hotel (Le
Meridien, St Julians) which was just a pathway
from our wedding venue (Villa Brasserie).
We had arrived a little earlier than our family
and friends to attend to the usual last minute
details. And I mean these details literally only
took minutes as Sarah and Lisa had everything
so organized. When our guests did arrive we
could see by the looks on their faces how
impressed they were too. We could tell this was
going to be a holiday and a wedding never to
be forgotten.
As a team Sarah and Lisa presented as
extremely professional with an excellent eye for
detail. They made us feel so welcome and so
special. So much so that on the night before the
wedding all of our family and friends were able
to get together for a very special pre wedding
dinner and the best venue in St Julians was
made available to us.
Our wedding was all we had dreamed of and
more. We were treated like royalty. Everything

was planned to perfection and that is exactly what
the day was – PERFECT!
The commitment ceremony conducted by Helen’s
brother took place on the balcony of the beautiful,
scenic and romantic Villa Brasserie. We sampled
exquisite food and the best of wines were free
flowing in the Villa itself, which overlooked St.
Georges Bay. From the beginning of the ceremony
to the last dance our guests were treated to the
best food, wine and entertainment Malta had to
offer.
Just in case we could forget what an amazing day
our wedding was, the very next day Sarah met us
in person with photographs that we will never tire
of showing off to those unfortunate to have
missed our happy day. And the organising didn’t
end there; two days after the wedding Sarah had
organised a boat trip. This boat trip was unlike any
you are likely to experience in Ireland. We
boarded a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ type boat
which took us to the Crystal Caves and the Blue
Lagoon. Almost everyone from the youngest,
aged eight to the oldest, a little older than that
swam in the beautiful clear blue water.
To this day, almost three months later, our friends
and family are asking when are we returning to St
Julians so they can join us for another holiday to
remember!
From the moment we decided to have our
wedding in Malta to the moment we arrived back
home in Ireland Sarah Young and her team made
our wedding an event neither us nor our family
and friends will ever forget. If you’re trying to
make decisions about who is going to help you
plan your wedding, look no further than Y Plan
Events. Helen and I cannot express enough how,
because of Sarah and her team, we were the most
stress free and blissfully happy blushing brides
you’re ever going to meet!
Thank you so much Sarah and Lisa and everyone
who made our day so memorable.
