RegisteratNVIDIAWebsitefortheTrialGotothewebsiteathttp://www.nvidia.com/object/iray-plugin-trial.html.Fillouttheformandtickthedesiredsoftwareyourdesiredpluginversion,likeIrayforCinema4DR17,andvMaterials(notrequiredbutrecommended).

ReceiveEmailwithDownloadLinksAfteryouhaveregisteredyourselfsuccessfullyandleftavalidemailaddressyouwillbesentanemailwiththedownloadlinksfortherequestedpluginandvMaterialsinstallersforyourplatform.

2. INSTALLTHEPLUGINTRIALVERSION

InstallthePluginandDependentPackagesTheinstallerforIrayforCinema4Dwillinstallthepluginitself,aswellastheIrayLicenseManagertool,andtheMDLExchangePackage,whichdeliverstheso-calledMDLCoreDefinitionsforeasyconstructionofmaterialsfrombasecomponentswithinCinema4D.

TheIrayLicenseManagerappearsasalittleicononthedesktoportaskbar,andallowstocheckwhichNVIDIAIrayrelatedsoftwareisinstalledonthemachineunderwhichlicenseconditions.ItalsoremindsyouofnewupdatesofthesoftwareproductsassoonastheyhavebeenpublishedbyNVIDIA.Moreimportantly,thistoolsimplifiestheprocessofactivatingalicensetokenorvoucherthatyoumayhavereceived.Suchatokencanbeusedtogeneratealicense(ormanylicenses)thatwillactivateyourspecificIraysoftware.Fordetailsseefurtherdownbelow.

3. [OPTIONAL]INSTALLTHEVMATERIALSMDLPACKAGE

InstalltheNVIDIAMDLvMaterialsTheNVIDIAvMaterialscanbeinstalled(anduninstalled)separatelyandindependentlyoftheplugin.Afterinstallation,theyprovidealargecollectionofnewmaterialsthatareavailabletoanyMDLcapablesoftwareinthesystem,likeforexampleanyotherIrayplugin.ThesematerialsbecomeautomaticallyvisibleintheIrayforCinema4DMDLmaterialeditor,andwillbedisplayedwithlittlethumbnailsforquickbrowsingandselection.TheycanbemanipulatedandassignedtogeometrylikeanyotherCinemamaterialforrenderingwithIray.

4. USEIRAYLICENSEMANAGERTOACTIVATELICENSETOKEN

GotoLicensingPortaltoRegistertheLicenseTokenAlicensecancomeasavoucher,licensetoken,oractivationkey,whichissimplyacharacterstringsenttoyoubyemail,orfoundonacouponasagiveaway.Suchalicensetokenentitlesyoutoacquirealicense(ormanylicenses)foraspecificIrayproductandforacertainperiodoftime.Toobtainthereallicense,thelicensetokenneedstoberegisteredintheNVIDIAlicensingportal.Thisportalcaneasilybereachedbyfollowingthelinkintheannouncementemailofyourlicensetoken,orbyusingtheIrayLicenseManagertoolviaActivateNow.

Pleasenote,thatthedisplayoftheMACAddressnexttothebuttonisanicelittlehelper.Thisnumberisuniquepermachine,andrequiredlaterwhenyouwanttogeneratealicenseforyourcomputer.

PressingActivateNowbuttonwillpointyoutotheNVIDIASoftwareLicensingCenterpagewhereyoucanregisteryourlicensetoken,referredtoastheactivationkey.

Itisworthtonote,thatlicensetokenshavealifetimethemselves,andmayhaveexpiredthedayyoutrytoregister.PleasecontactNVIDIAsupportinthiscase.Also,oncethetokenwasregistereditgetsinvalidatedandcannotbeusedasecondtime.

CreateNewAccountforLicenseManagementIfyouareafirsttimeuserofthisportal,thenyouareaskedtocreateanaccountbeforeyoucancontinue.Pleasenote,thisaccountisanotrelatedtotheregistrationattheNVIDIAwebsitewhenyoudownloadedthetrial.Ifyoualreadyhaveanaccount,youcanloginandcontinuetoregisteryourlicensetokenrightaway.

Asareturninguser,youcanregisteryourlicensetokensviathemenucommandRegisterAdditionalKeys.

Youcanalsosearchforyourpreviouslyregisteredlicensesandproducts.

GeneratetheLicensesfortheTargetMachineIftheregistrationwassuccessful,thenyouareabletoseeandaccessthelicensesectionofthesoftwareproductyouareentitledto.

Youcaninspectthedetailsofyourentitlement,likenode-lockedorfloating,numberoflicenses,andexpirationdate.TocreatetheactuallicenseforyourmachinepresstheGeneratebutton.Thiswillopenthefollowingpagewhereyouneedtospecifythedetailsofyourlocalmachine(fornode-lockedlicenses)orthedetailsofthelicenseservermachine,forfloatinglicenses.Inourexample,weuseanode-lockedlicense.ThistypeoflicensepermitsyoutoexecutetheIraypluginonthegivenmachineonly.

YouneedtoprovidetheMACaddressofyourcomputer,aswellasthecomputer’sname.TheMACaddresscanbeeasilycopiedfromtheLicenseManagerwindowwitharight-click,andpastedhereintotherespectivefield.

Thenameofthecomputerisalsorequiredbutcanbearbitrary.Onotherwords,ifthisnamedoesnotexactlymatchthenameofyourmachine,itdoesnotaffectyourlicense.TheMACaddress,however,needstobeexactlyidentical.Itistheprimarymeanstoidentifyyourcomputer.

Onceyougeneratedthelicense,youwillbepresentedwiththeresultinglicenseinformation.

Youcanverifythedetailsofyourlicense,likequantityandexpiration.

ThislicensetextneedstobepassedbacktotheIrayLicenseManager.Inordertotransferusingafile,usetheSaveAllbutton.Itwillcreatea.licfilefordownloadfromthewebsitethatcontainsallthelicensetext.Alternatively,thelicensetextcansimplybycopiedfromthispageandpasteddirectlyintotheIrayLicenseManagertextfield.

ActivatetheLicensewithIrayLicenseManagerWhenyouhavesuccessfullydownloadedthe.licfileitcanbeloadedintotheIrayLicenseManagerusingtheSelectFilebutton.Alternatively,pastethecopiedlicensetextdirectlyintothisfield.

Afterthat,youneedtopressAddLicensetoactivate.Whenthissucceededthenyouaredonewiththelicensingprocedure.TheIrayLicenseManagernowshowsyouractivelicense.

The✕buttonnexttothelicensestringallowsyoutoremoveorreplacethelicenselater.

YouneedtorestarttheapplicationsothattheIrayplugincanpickupthenewlicense.
