ABDUL GHANI AZMI Ida Madieha bt, Professor, Civil Law Department, International Islamic University Malaysia

Ida Madieha bt. Abdul Ghani Azmi obtained her LLB from IIUM, LLM from University of Cambridge and Ph.D from University of London (1995). She authored 10 books and more than 50 articles on various issues on Intellectual Property and Cyberlaw. She is currently a Professor at the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws. She has received numerous national grants, including: Legal Framework for the Protection of Traditional Cultural Expressions: Balancing Human Rights, Conservation and Proprietary Interest (FRGS 2012-2015); Establishing Legal and Economic Framework to Protect Malaysian Copyright Based Industries From the Possible Negative "Effects" of the Proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (FRGS 2015). Her international research projects include: The Economic Impact of Intellectual Property System (WIPO-JPO-UNU Research Project, December 2006- June 2007); Patents, Stem Cells and Ethics (Association of Commonwealth University, September 2006-March 2007) and Drafting of IP Curriculum and Syllabus in Bangladesh, WIPO (2014). She was a member of the Board of the Malaysian Intellectual Property Office (MyIPO) in 2004-2008. She has been involved in copyright committee reforms in Malaysia since 1999. She is also the former Deputy Director of the Malaysian Copyright Tribunal (2014-2016). She also served as a Domain Name Panellist with the Kuala Lumpur Arbitration Centre. Dr. Ida has conducted training programs organized by the Intellectual Property Training Centre and ILKAB and is the resource person for the WTO Regional Trade Policy Program for Asia Pacific (2008-2011).

Nazura ABDUL MANAP, Professor and Deputy Dean, Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

Professor Dr. Nazura Abdul Manap is currently attached with the Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (The National University of Malaysia). She has been working in the area of information technology law and intellectual property law for about 20 years. She has

published extensively. Amongst her numerous publications are “Jenayah Berkaitan Komputer: Perspektif Undang-undang Malaysia” (Computer Related Crimes: A Malaysian Perspective) published by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, Kuala Lumpur and a text book of “Teknologi Maklumat dan Komunikasi: Undang-undang , Etika dan Sosial” ( Information Technology: Law, Ethic and Social) published by McGraw Hill Education, Kuala Lumpur used by the students in the Faculty of Science and Information Technology, UKM. She has published hundreds of articles in high impact indexed journals as well as refereed journals, and organised several national seminars and research workshops on topics related to IP and cyber law. She has worked with the Intellectual Property Training Center under the Malaysian Intellectual Property Office (MyIPO) and her involvement in this area has been recognised by MyIPO through her appointment as a consultant for issues relating to copyright and by the Regional Center of Arbitration Kuala Lumpur (RCAKL) through her appointment as panellist (arbitrator) of domain name disputes resolution.

Ainee ADAM, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Law, University of Malaya

Ainee graduated from the International Islamic University of Malaysia with an LL.B (Hons) (First Class) degree. She then chambered and practised law at Skrine, Malaysia. Subsequently, she was awarded with a scholarship from the University of Malaya to pursue both her LL.M and Ph.D in Intellectual Property Rights at the Faculty of Law, Monash University, Australia. Upon completing her doctoral degree in 2014, she was appointed as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya, Malaysia. Soon after, she took up the position as a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Business and Law at the National University of Singapore and has recently returned to the University of Malaya to continue her service as a Senior Lecturer. Ainee has published several articles in journals including the Queen Mary Journal of Intellectual Property, European Intellectual Property Review and the Hong Kong Law Journal.

Sudhakara ARALIHALLI, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Jain Institute of Technology (non-presenting co-author of the paper presented by Rakesh LINGAPPA, Professor and Department Head, Computer Science and Engineering, Jain Institute of Technology)

Dr. Sudhakara Aralihalli completed his Ph.D Degree in the field of synthetic organic chemistry in the year 2010 from Kuvempu University and Postdoc Research Associate in the field of Lubricant Chemistry, Tribology Lab, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Indian Institute of

Science, Bangalore in the year 2012. He has published 10 International papers and 6 National Papers. He is the Editorial Board member of Blue eye Intelligence Journal and Medicinal Chemistry Research Journal. Presently working as a Professor in the Dept of Chemistry, Jain Institute of technology-Davangere-Karnataka-India. He has also interests in copyrights, patents and products. He also has completed a course in Internet on things.

Evie ARIADNE SHINTA DEWI, Lecturer, Faculty of Communication, Universitas Padjadjaran

Dr. Evie Ariadne Shinta Dewi, M. Pd, since 2002, works as a civil servant lecturer at the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran. She also have a duty as a secretary of IPRs Centre in the University. Political Communication, Strategic Communication, Public Opinion, Political PR, Social Change, Industrial Relations, and Civics Education are her subject courses. Born in Bandung, her dissertation topic was the “KPU’s Political PR on Legislative Elections in 2009.” She successfully defended her dissertation in August 2011, and later followed with several studies in the areas of political communication Elections and Health Communication studies about HIV-AIDS. She is also a columnist in several mass media, as well as a Public Relations consultant for government agencies. She is the caretaker of ICMI and HIPIIS. She has three sons, and in the midst of an academic activities, she stills enjoy life with traveling and reading poems.

Lida AYOUBI, Lecturer, Faculty of Business and Law, Law School, Auckland University of Technology

Dr. Lida Ayoubi is a Lecturer at the Auckland University of Technology (AUT) Law School in New Zealand where she teaches intellectual property law. She completed her LLB at University of Tehran (Iran) before undertaking postgraduate studies in international human rights and intellectual property law at Lund University (Sweden). Prior to starting her PhD at Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand), she contributed to the Access 2 Knowledge project funded by the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and worked as a researcher at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Her doctorate investigated the WIPO Marrakesh Treaty and access to copyright protected works for the blind and visually impaired persons as an example of the interface between intellectual property and human rights law. Lida’s current research is centred on different themes that further explore the relationship between these two areas of law.

Arpan BANERJEE, Assistant Professor, Assistant Dean and Executive Director, Centre for IP & Technology Law, Jindal Global Law School

Arpan Banerjee is Assistant Professor, Assistant Dean and Executive Director of the Centre for Intellectual Property & Technology Law at Jindal Global Law School, India. He is also an affiliated faculty member at the Centre for Intellectual Property Research at the Maurer School of Law, Indiana University Bloomington. Arpan's main areas of interest are copyright law, trade mark law and entertainment law. He has published widely, spoken at numerous conferences, and received prestigious fellowships and grants. Prior to joining Jindal, Arpan taught at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. Before joining academia, Arpan practised as an intellectual property attorney. Arpan has recently been awarded the German Chancellor’s Fellowship by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and is currently on research leave.

Nurul BARIZAH, Senior Lecturer and Vice Dean for Cooperation, Development & Information System, Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga

Nurul Barizah holds a Bachelor of Laws (S.H.) degree from the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, Indonesia (1994). She was awarded the Australian Development Scholarship in 2000 and 2005 for pursuing academic degrees at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). She earned her Ph.D from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in 2009 after previously receiving her Masters in Laws from the same University in 2001. Nurul’s main area of expertise is International Intellectual Property, International Trade Law, International Law and International Dispute Resolution. She has been the Head of the Intellectual Property Centre at the Faculty from 2009 to 2014. Since 2015, she is the Head of the Center of International Trade Law Studies. She has been frequently invited by several Governmental Agencies and Ministries, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), as well as non-governmental organisations (NGOs) as a resource person, speaker and expert. Since 2012, she has been a Member of Appeal Commission for the National Office of the Protection of Plant Varieties, under the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic Indonesia.

Ann BARTOW, Professor and Director, Franklin Pierce Center for Intellectual Property, School of Law, University of New Hampshire

Ann Bartow is the Director of the Franklin Pierce Center for Intellectual Property and Professor of Law at the University of New Hampshire School of Law in Concord, New Hampshire, U.S. She is a graduate of Cornell University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. She teaches an array of courses including Copyright Law, Trademark Law, Patent Litigation, Art Law, Cyberspace Law and Intellectual Property Law Survey. Her scholarship focuses on intellectual property law doctrine, theory, and public policy. She sometimes writes about feminist legal theory and ways in which it intersects with intellectual property constructs. She spent the 2011-12 academic year as a Fulbright Distinguished Lecturer at Tongji University in Shanghai, China.

Sharon BAR-ZIV, Assistant Professor, Sapir College Law School and Research Fellow, Haifa Center For Law & Technology, Faculty Of Law, University Of Haifa

Dr. Sharon Bar-Ziv is an Assistant Professor at the Sapir Academic College, School of Law and a Research Fellow at the Haifa Center for Law & Technology, University of Haifa. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B, Major in Law & Technology), and her Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M, Summa Cum Laude) all from the University of Haifa. In 2013 Dr. Bar-Ziv completed her PhD thesis at the University of Haifa, Faculty of Law. Her area of specialization focuses on Law & Technology issues, Intellectual Property Law, Science and R&D Policy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Cyber Law and Empirical Methodologies for Intellectual Property Studies. Dr. Bar-Ziv continually participates in international conferences and teaches courses and seminars in her areas of expertise.

Shamnad BASHEER, Honorary Research Chaired Professor of IP Law, Nirma University and Founder, SpicyIP

Professor (Dr) Shamnad Basheer is the founder of the popular Indian IP blog, SpicyIP. He was rated as one of the top 50 IP personalities internationally for the year 2014-15 by MIP (Managing Intellectual Property). He is the Honorary Research Professor of IP Law at Nirma University. In the past, he was the MHRD Prof in IP Law at NUJS, Kolkata, and previously the Frank H Marks Visiting Associate Professor of IP Law at the GW Law School in Washington DC. He is also the Founder of IDIA, a project to empower underprivileged communities by creating world class lawyers from within. After graduating from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore, Professor Basheer joined Anand and Anand, one of India’s leading IP firms. He then went on to do his post-graduate studies at the University of Oxford as a Wellcome Trust scholar. His articles on Indian patent law have won awards and he is consulted widely by the government, industry, international organisations and civil society. He served for two years as an expert on the IP global advisory council (GAC) of the World Economic Forum (WEF). He also engages with the courts routinely on public interest issues and presented arguments before the Supreme Court of India in the famous Novartis patent dispute. For his various contributions to intellectual property law and to legal education, he was awarded the 2014-15 Infosys Prize (in the Humanities category) by a jury headed by Nobel Laureate, Prof Amartya Sen. Last year, he was also awarded the most innovative law teacher award by the Society of Indian Law Firms (SILF).

Nguyen Thi Ngoc Bich, PhD Candidate, School of Law, Hanoi National University

Nguyen Thi Ngoc BICH has submitted her doctoral thesis on the effective use of the Madrid system for international registration of mark. She has a series studies on Madrid system, including the comparative study on the theoretical and practical issues in Vietnam and Japan, the opportunities and challenges for trademark registration in European Union, etc. She is the author of various training curriculums and handbooks on IP for legal professional expertise. She is the visiting professor of the Academy of Justice as well as the lecturer to trial lawyers and entrepreneurs on patent, trademark and IP-related trade issues since the year of 2000. She is the presenter in conferences on IP issues and dispute settlement. Being the IP practitioner since 1993, Bich is working as the Chief Lawyer, registered IP Attorney at ADVACAS Law Office. She works on a broad range of IP litigation and prosecution matter in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.

She has been authorized by IPR holders from more than 40 countries. Bich has been selected to working groups for legal improvement/harmonization and the Jury for National Selection of the Famous and Competitive Marks.

Michael BIRNHACK, Professor, Faculty of Law, Tel Aviv University

Michael Birnhack is a Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law, Tel Aviv University, where he is also the director of the S. Horowitz Institute for IP in memory of Amnon Goldenberg. Michael’s research focuses on information, especially IP and privacy. His IP-related research examined the relationship between copyright and freedom of expression, as well as legal history. His book, Colonial Copyright: Intellectual Property in Mandate Palestine was published in 2012 by Oxford University Press. Michael is also the Director of the Parasol Foundation Trust International LL.M Program at TAU Law.

Maria Letizia BIXIO, Researcher, European University of Rome

Maria Letizia Bixio graduated from “Università di Roma” La Sapienza and obtained a Ph.D. in Diritto dei servizi nell’ordinamento italiano ed europeo from “Università degli studi di Napoli Parthenope”. She is a member of the Rome Bar Association since 2013 and works as an Intellectual property attorney. She is an expert advisor for MIBACT - Italian Ministry of Culture and Heritage. Since 2016, she is a Research Fellow at the European University of Rome and contributor for the chair of Commercial Law. She teaches in the Master in Management and Tourism Management and SSPL. She principally deals with intellectual and industrial property, new technologies, social & media law. In the last years, she has gained particular experience in the field of law of the music, the collective management of copyright, art law and cultural heritage, film rights, liability of Internet Service Providers, trademark protection and design. She cooperates with CREDA (Università Europea di Roma). She is a member of ALAI (Associazione letteraria e artistica internazionale); Istituto Giuridico per lo Spettacolo and Associazione Italiana Avvocati dello Sport. She is also a member of the editorial team of “Rivista Diritto Mercato e Tecnologia (DIMT)” and of “Rivista di Diritto Sportivo”.

Joe BRADLEY, Head, Academic Institutions Program, WIPO Academy, World Intellectual Property Organization

Joe Bradley currently works as the Head of the Academic Institutions Program at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy where his responsibilities include the WIPO Joint Master’s in IP Programs and support to universities in IP and higher education, the WIPO Summer Schools program and WIPO’s support to countries in establishing national IP training institutions. Prior to this, he was Deputy Director of the WIPO External Relations Division following a range of UN negotiations and discussions such as the UNFCCC climate change negotiations, follow-up to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) and discussions on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Previously, Joe worked for the UK Diplomatic Service at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London and at Embassies and Diplomatic Missions in Geneva, Berlin, Vienna, Lusaka and Lisbon. Joe has an MBA (Technology Management).

Catharina Ria BUDININGSIH, Lecturer, Faculty of Law, Parahyangan Catholic University

Catharina Ria Budiningsih has been a Lecturer at Faculty of Law, Parahyangan Catholic University, located at Jl. Ciumbuleuit 94 Bandung 40141 since 1986 and has been teaching Commercial Law and IPR for more than 25 years. She accomplished her Bachelor in Law degree and Ph.D in law at the same university. She also graduated with her Master of Comparative Law at National University of Singapore in 1997. She wrote papers and articles in journals and newspapers. One of her papers was titled Problems of Traditional Knowledge Misappropriation in the Globalization Era (2010). Her final thesis when accomplished her study in doctoral Degree was titled A Normative Analysis and The Use of The Social Function Principle of Patents for The Development of Patent Law in Indonesia (A Critical Study of Indonesia Law Number 14 of 2001 Concerning Patent), 2009.

Irene CALBOLI, Lee Kong Chian Fellow, Visiting Professor, and Deputy Director, Applied Research Centre for Intellectual Assets and the Law in Asia (ARCIALA), School of Law, Singapore Management University

Irene Calboli is Lee Kong Chian Fellow, Visiting Professor and Deputy Director of the Applied Research Centre for Intellectual Assets and the Law in Asia, Singapore Management University, School of Law. She is also Professor of Law at Texas A&M University School of Law, and Transatlantic Technology Law Fellow at Stanford University. From 2012 to 2015, she was Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore. She has lectured in many institutions across the world and has been an expert advisor for the World Intellectual Property Organization, the European Union Intellectual Property Office, and the IP Academy of Singapore. Her articles and chapters have appeared in leading volumes, peer reviewed journals, and student edited law reviews. Her recent books include, DIVERSITY IN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY: IDENTITIES, INTERESTS, AND INTERSECTIONS (Cambridge University Press, 2015, with S. Ragavan) and RESEARCH HANDBOOK ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY EXHAUSTION AND PARALLEL IMPORTS (Edward Elgar, 2016, with E. Lee). Irene is an elected member of the American Law Institute and an associate member of the Singapore Academy of Law. She is currently the Chair-Elect of the Art Law Section of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS), a member of the Board of the European Policy for Intellectual Property Law Association (EPIP), and a member of the Legislation and Regulation Committee of the International Trademark Association INTA. In 2016, Irene launched the IPScholars Asia initiative. She has been the scientific organizer of the 2016 and 2017 IPScholars Asia Conferences @ SMU.

Gargi CHAKRABARTI, Associate Professor, National Law University, Jodhpur

Gargi Chakrabarti is Associate Professor, Coordinator MHRD Chair on IPR, and Coordinator UGC-GIAN Project at the National Law University, Jodhpur. Her areas of interest include Intellectual Property Law, Cyber Law, Competition Law, and Environment Law. She holds a PhD from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, India and an MPhil from National Law School of India University, Bangalore, India. Previously, she was Assistant Professor in NLU Jodhpur, India and in School of Law, Christ University, Bangalore, India and she was Research Associate, MHRD Chair on IPR, National Law School of India University, Bangalore, India. She was selected as one of the three Researchers from India for International University of Washington – Google Project on Intermediary Liability and her research topics were Intermediary Liability on Hate Speech and Intermediary Liability on Child Protection. She was selected as Visiting Scholar at the School

of Law, University of Washington in Seattle in 2015. She has 25 national and international publications to her credit.

Andy CHEN, Professor, Department of Financial and Economic Law, Chung Yuan Christian University

Professor Chen is currently Professor of Law in the Department of Financial and Economic Law at Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan. He served as Commissioner of the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission (TFTC) from 2007 to 2010. He is a regular speaker on topics related to both government agencies and private companies. He also regularly provides expert opinions in lawsuits and advises the TFTC, regulatory agencies as well as private business. Professor Chen earned his law degrees from National Taiwan University, Soochow University (Taiwan), Duke University and Northwestern University (Doctor of Juridical Science). He has published extensively on antitrust and regulatory issues in Chinese and English, mainly from the perspective of economic analysis. His most recent publications include: (1) Cartels under the Taiwan Fair Trade Act: An Evolutionary Perspective (book chapter in CARTELS IN ASIA: LAW & PRACTICE, Wolters Kluwer Law and Business, March 2015); (2) Justifications and Limitations for Adopting Divergent Competition Policy and Law in Emerging Economies, DENVER JOURNAL OF INTERNATIONAL LAW AND POLICY (Volume 43, Summer 2015); (3) New Enforcement Trend for Vertical Restraints After Implementation of the 2015 Amendments to the Taiwan Fair Trade Act: A Preliminary Analysis, COMPETITION LAW INTERNATIONAL (Volume 12, No. 1, April 2016); (4) Patent Assertion Entities in Merger Review in Taiwan: Issues of Characterization and Remedies (book chapter in PATENT ASSERTION ENTITIES AND COMPETITION POLICY, Cambridge University Press, 2016, Forthcoming).

CHIAM Lu Lin, Executive Director, Intellectual Property Academy of Singapore and Deputy Chief Executive, Intellectual Property Office of Singapore

Chiam Lu Lin is the Executive Director of the IP Academy (IPA). Lu Lin graduated from the National University of Singapore Faculty of Law. She joined the Singapore Legal Service and requested for a posting to the Legal Aid Bureau to work with those who could not afford their own lawyers. She was one of the key drivers in the conversion of IPOS into a Statutory Board.

Lu Lin had also drafted a number of Intellectual Property (IP) legislations as well as issued Grounds of Decision on a number of IP cases. Lu Lin was the Chief Liaison Officer with WIPO and was Head of the Singapore Organising Committee for the WIPO Diplomatic Conference (DC) on the Revised Trademark Law Treaty. The DC culminated in the successful adoption of the Singapore Treaty on the Law of Trademarks and marked a historic and important milestone in Singapore's IP journey. Lu Lin oversaw the successful re-structuring of IPA to become the first subsidiary of IPOS with effect from 1 April 2012. As the Executive Director of IPA, she leads IPA in its vision to be a leading centre for excellence in Intellectual Property education.

Denis CROZE, Director, South Asia Office, World Intellectual Property Organization

Denis Croze is Director of the Singapore Office of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), covering the Asia Pacific region since June 2012. Previously, Mr. Croze held several positions at WIPO. He was the Director of the Assemblies and Documentation Affairs Division (AADD) in the Office of the Director General (2010 -2012), the Acting Director Advisor in the Executive Office of Mr. Michael Keplinger, Deputy Director General in charge of the Copyright and Enforcement Sector (2006 – 2009), the Acting Director Advisor in the Executive Office of Mr. Geoffrey Yu, Deputy Director General, Economic Development Sector (2004 - 2006), the Head of the International Law Development Section (2002 – 2004), and the Head of the Trademark Law Section in the Industrial Property Law Division of WIPO (1999 – 2002). From 1996 to 1999, Mr. Croze headed the Multilateral Affairs Department of the French Patent and Trademark Office (INPI) in Paris, France. He was also a WIPO Consultant to set up the WIPO Mediation and Arbitration Center from 1994 to 1996.

Guobin CUI, Professor and Associate Dean, Tsinghua University Law School

Cui Guobin is the Associate Dean for International Affairs and Academics as well as Director of the Center for Intellectual Property at Tsinghua University Law School. Professor Cui earned his Ph.D. in law, LL.M., and B.Sc. in Chemistry from Peking University, and his second LL.M. from Yale Law School. His scholarly interests include intellectual property, antitrust, property, and law and economics theory. He teaches Intellectual Property Law, Patent Law, IP Licensing, and Chinese Civil Law. He has published more than 20 law review articles and two popular casebooks, “Patent Law: Cases and Materials” (1st edition in 2012, 2nd edition in 2015) and “Copyright Law: Cases and Materials” (2014). Before he joined Tsinghua in 2002, he practiced

intellectual property litigation and licensing law in Beijing and Shanghai. In 2008, he worked as an intern for Judge Rader at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He was a visiting scholar at the George Washington University Law School in 2008, the University of Chicago Law School in July 2012, and the University of Washington Law School in May 2013.

Yihan DAI, PhD Candidate, Faculty of Law, University of Macau

DAI Yihan is a PhD candidate with particular interest in intellectual property law and new technologies. Prior to enrolling at University of Macau, she worked for 4 years as Lecturer in the Guangxi University of Finance and Economic. She holds a master’s degree in International Business Law from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a B.A. in Economic Law from the Chinese University of Political Science and Law. She had half a year’s stay in the University of California, San Diego as a visiting scholar, fully funded by the China Scholarship Council.

Candra DARUSMAN, Deputy Director, South Asia Office, World Intellectual Property Organization

Candra Darusman first joined the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Geneva, in April 2001, as Consultant, and is now the Deputy Director at the WIPO Office in Singapore. Prior to 2001, he was the General Manager of the Indonesian Collective Management Organization (KCI), and the Secretary General of the Indonesian Musicians Foundation (YAMI). He is a graduate (SE – PhD. candidate) from the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia, where he served as a researcher, lecturer and as Assistant Professor from 1982 to 1985. He also served as Director of the Indonesian Guild of Composers, member of the Indonesian National Copyright Council, the Director of the Indonesian Musicians Cooperative (KOSMINDO), and a member of the Anti-Piracy Coalition of the Indonesian copyright industries.

Sivakami Dhulap has a Master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Pune. Rebecca FERDERER, PhD Candidate, Graduate School of Law, Nagoya University

Rebecca Ferderer is a doctoral candidate in the LL.D. Comparative Law Program at the Graduate School of Law at Nagoya University in Nagoya, Japan. Her research topic is intellectual property law, with a focus on geographical indications and trademark law. Special research interests include the protection of geographical indications, particularly those designating non-agricultural products, in Japan.

Shubha GHOSH, Crandall Melvin Professor of Law and Director of the Technology Commercialization Law Program, College of Law, Syracuse University

Shubha Ghosh is Crandall Melvin Professor of Law and Director of the Technology Commercialization Law Program at Syracuse University College of Law. He has taught law at University of Wisconsin, Southern Methodist University, State University of New York, Buffalo, Georgia State University, and Oklahoma City University. His teaching career started with a professorship of economics at University of Texas at Austin. In addition to teaching, he has clerked on the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and worked as an associate for Baker & McKenzie. His scholarship focuses on intellectual property doctrine and policy, patents and competition law, intellectual property exhaustion, and personalized medicine. He is currently working on a book synthesizing intellectual property exhaustion doctrine. He is also writing papers on patent law in Colonial India as background to developments in Indian patent law post-Independence, design copyright and functionality, the First Amendment treatment of trademarks, and settlement behavior in IPR proceedings. He holds a JD from Stanford Law School, a PhD in economics from The University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, and a BA from Amherst College.

GOH Yihan, Associate Dean (Research) and Associate Professor, School of Law, Singapore Management University

GOH Yihan is Associate Dean (Research) and an Associate Professor at the School of Law, Singapore Management University. Among his other professional appointments, he is presently a board member of the Singapore Institute of Legal Education and the Singapore Judicial College, a Visiting Academic at Rajah & Tann Singapore LLP, and a Professorial Fellow at the AGC Academy. Ankur is currently a law lecturer at the School of Business, Temasek Polytechnic (TP) in Singapore. Egzonis Hajdari LL.M. was born on April 04 1990 in Prishtina, Kosovo. His research and published work focuses on Civil Law, Obligation Law and Family/Inheritance Law. Naomi HAWKINS, Senior Lecturer, University of Exeter Law School

Naomi Hawkins is a Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Exeter. She obtained her LLB and her BSc (Biomedical Science) from the University of Queensland in Australia before completing her BCL and DPhil at the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on the interaction of law and biomedical science, particularly around intellectual property rights. She uses traditional legal research and empirical methods to investigate the impact of patents on the development of translational outcomes of genetics and genomics research. She is also interested in the ways in which data sharing practices intersect with intellectual property rights in science. She is currently funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Future Research Leaders scheme for her project "The Impact of Patents on Translational Research - Non-Invasive Prenatal Diagnosis in Europe and the US".

Tianxiang He (China P. R. 1984) is Assistant Professor at the School of Law of City University of Hong Kong. Towhidul Islam is a Professor of Law at the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, and received his PhD in intellectual property law from Macquarie University, Australia. Naazima KAMARDEEN, Lecturer, Faculty of Law, University of Colombo

Naazima Kamardeen holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, a Master of Laws degree in International Legal Studies from Georgetown University, USA, and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. She is also an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka. Currently, she teaches investment, intellectual property and tax law at undergraduate level, and trade and intellectual property at post-graduate level. Her research interests include intellectual property, biopiracy and traditional knowledge, trade and investment, environment, research ethics and Muslim personal law reform. She has worked as a researcher for the Law and Society Trust, where she was the country coordinator for the Farmers’ Rights Project, which was a regional project on the impact of the WTO on subsistence farmers in the SAARC region. She was also been a member of the National Committee that drafted the law on Plant Variety Protection, which is currently in draft stage. In addition, she participated as a non-medical member of the Ethic Review Committee of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo. Her book “Global Trade and Sri Lanka: Which Way Forward?” was published in November 2016.

Saritha KIRAN, Research Scholar, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Unit for Research and Development of Information Products (CSIR-URDIP)

Saritha Kiran is a Senior Research Fellow at CSIR-URDIP where she worked as a patent analyst from 2011 to 2013 and was involved in prior art search, patentability analysis, landscaping, FTO analysis. She holds a P.G Diploma from NALSAR law university, Hyderabad. She registered as a Ph.D. scholar at AcSIR in 2013 and has been investigating “Role of patents in evergreening in pharmaceutical industry” to ascertain the extent to which the secondary patents help the innovator companies compete against other innovators in the same market vis a vis delaying

the entry of the generics. Her paper titled “Secondary patents: Portfolio building or Evergreeing” won the best paper award at MIPS 2016 conference held at NITIE, Mumbai in July 2016. She intends to submit her dissertation by April 2017.

Aakanksha KUMAR, Assistant Professor, National Law University, Jodhpur

Ms. Aakanksha Kumar, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, National Law University Jodhpur. She heads the Centre for Advanced Research and Training in Arbitration Law as its Executive Director and is the Faculty Adviser on the flagship journal Indian Journal of Arbitration Law. She currently teaches courses in International Commercial Arbitration, ADR and Law of IPR in International Trade. She is an alumnus of the Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, India and graduated from Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore, in June 2013 with specialized Masters in International and Comparative Law. At NUS, she completed the directed research dissertation titled "The Taking of Evidence in International Arbitration: A New Legal Regime", supervised by Prof. Gary F. Bell. She also successfully completed the WIPO Singapore Summer School organized jointly by WIPO, IPA Singapore and IPOS in June 2013 and has worked under the tutelege of Prof. Irene Calboli as her summer research assistant on a project on sustainable development and economic value of Geographical Indications from May to July 2013. Jyh-An Lee is an Assistant Professor of Law at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he currently serves as the Deputy Director of the LL.B. Programme and Director of the Centre for Financial Regulation and Economic Development (CFRED). He holds a J.S.D. from Stanford Law School and an LL.M from Harvard Law School. Dr. Lee has extensively published in English and in Chinese on various aspects of intellectual property and Internet law. His publications appear in leading academic journals. Kung-Chung LIU, Lee Kong Chian Visiting Professor and Director, Applied Research Centre for Intellectual Assets and the Law in Asia, School of Law, Singapore Management University

Kung-Chung Liu holds a Doctor of Law degree from the Ludwig Maximilian Universitaet (University of Munich). Between 1992 to January 31, 2017, he was research fellow at the Institute for Social Sciences and Philosophy (Jurisprudence Division) and Institutum Iurisprudentiae, Academia Sinica. In 2003-04, he was a Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore and Visiting Senior Research Fellow for the IP Academy of Singapore. In 2006-07, he served as one of the founding Commissioners of the National Communications Commission in Taiwan. Since 2007, he has been co-appointed by the Institute of Law for Science and Technology, National Tsing Hua University. Since 2010, he was further co-appointed by the Graduate Institute of Technology, Innovation & Intellectual Property Management, National Chengchi University. Between April 2014 and June 2015, he was a Visiting Professor at the School of Law, Singapore Management University, and founded the Applied Research Centre for Intellectual Assets and the Law in Asia (ARCIALA) in May 2015. Beginning from February 1, 2017 Professor Liu re-joins SMU and resumes the directorship of ARCIALA. In addition, he serves as Professor at Renmin University of China. His teaching and research interests are intellectual property law, antitrust and unfair competition law, and

Shan LIU, Assistant Professor and Director of Intellectual Property Laboratory School of Law, Zhejiang University of Technology

Dr. Liu has been awarded the Patent Information Analysis Talented Teacher by the State Intellectual Property Office of China in 2012. She is also a member of the Intellectual Property Expert Group of the US-China Clean Energy Research Center (CERC). She did her postdoctoral research at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (2010-2014), studied Intellectual Property Law and Management in Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and obtained a Master’s Degree of Law (2006) and Doctor Degree of Management (2009). Althaf Marsoof is a PhD candidate at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London and a Visiting Scholar at the Applied Research Centre for Intellectual Assets and the Law in Asia at the Singapore Management University. His PhD research is fully funded by the Dickson Poon PhD Scholarship award. He served as a State Counsel for over six years at the Attorney General’s Department of Sri Lanka and has now chosen to pursue a career in academia. Yann MÉNIÈRE, Chief Economist, European Patent Office

Yann Ménière is Professor of Economics on leave from MINES ParisTech, where he was leading the Chair on "IP and Markets for Technology" until he joined the European Patent Office as Chief Economist in February 2016. His research and expertise relate to the economics of innovation, competition and intellectual property. In recent years, he has been focusing more specifically on IP and standards, markets for technology, and IP issues in climate negotiations. Besides his academic publications, he has also written a number of policy studies for the European Commission, French government, French Patent Office and other public

Eliza MIK, Assistant Professor, School of Law, Singapore Management University

Eliza Mik is Assistant Professor at Singapore Management University School of Law. She has worked in-house in a number of software companies, Internet start-ups, and telecommunication providers in Australia, Poland, Malaysia, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates. She mainly advises on e-commerce, software licensing and patenting as well as technology procurement, PKI, data protection, and provider liability. Throughout her professional career, Eliza maintained a keen interest in all developments (both legal and technical) pertaining to the Internet and its use as an enabler of commerce. Those interests resulted in the 2007 doctoral thesis “Contract Formation in Open Electronic Networks” at the University of Sydney, Australia. After joining the Singapore Management University in 2010, Eliza continued her research into the regulation of e-commerce, the interaction between contract law and technology and the use of the Internet as a platform for commerce. She teaches contract law and the law of e-commerce.

Maria Lillà Montagnani is Associate Professor of commercial law at Bocconi University where she teaches and researches in the field of Intellectual Property Law. She has an LL.M in Intellectual Property (Queen Mary University of London) and a Ph.D in Competition Law. She is the Director of ASK, a Bocconi research center devoted to the promotion of cultural planning and cultural institutions management. Rostam J. Ms. Pabilane was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2016. She holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Ateneo de Manila University School of Law. Yogesh Pai is Assistant Professor of Law at the National Law University, Delhi. He teaches and writes on issues relating to intellectual property law and policy. He has previously worked with the South Centre in Geneva, Centad, New Delhi, and was an Assistant Professor of Law at the National Law University, Jodhpur. In 2012, Yogesh was a Visiting Scholar at the Asian law Center of the University of Washington School of Law, Seattle. Mohammad Reza Parvin is Assistant Professor of Law and Head of the Intellectual Property & Technology Transfer Office at the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute of Iran (ABRII). He has a Doctor degree in Intellectual Property Law (Biotechnology law specialization) from the University of Panthéon-Assas (Paris II-), France. His thesis examined the patentability of biotechnological inventions in international patent system. He writes and has been teaching in the multidisciplinary areas such as biotechnology law, intellectual property and environmental law in the Master of Intellectual Property and the Ph.D of Environmental Law programmes at the University of Shahid-Beheshti, the University of Tehran (Alborz Pardis Branch) and the Islamic Azad University (Science and Research Branch) as an invited lecturer. In 2007, he was the first person in Iran who got a Ph.D in IP with specialization in biotechnology law. Mr Dambadarjaa Purevdorj was born in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, received his first degree Dipl.-Eng, Medical and Microbiological Engineering from the Moscow Technological Institute of Food Production in Moscow, USSR in 1989, completed his post graduate degree of Master of Bioprocess Engineering in Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand in 1997 and his advanced degree Ph.D. in the field of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology received from the Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan in 2002. Nahid RABBI, Assistant Professor, Eastern University

Nahid Rabbi has completed his LL. B. (Honors) and LL. M. in International and Comparative Law from the Department of Law, University of Dhaka with first class in both the examinations. After graduation he was selected to work with the South Asian Institute for Advanced Legal and Human Rights Studies. He started his academic career as a Lecturer of Law at Northern University Bangladesh. Laina Rafianti grew up in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. She is a first year Ph.D. student with particular interest in the law of intellectual property and traditional cultural expressions (TCEs). Prior to enrolling at the doctorate program in the Universitas Padjadjaran, she worked as Lecturer at Faculty of Law at the same university since 2005. She holds a master’s degree (M.H) in international law and obtained her undergraduate law degree (S.H.) also from Universitas Padjadjaran. Most recently, Laina also worked with the West Java Cultural and Tourism Office to prepare inscriptions of intangible cultural heritage. Besides doing research in traditional cultural expressions, Laina is also a TCEs performer as a traditional dancer.

Recently, she had contributed comments to the draft Open Data Policy of the Telangana Government. She had earlier also submitted comments for the Law Commission India’s Consultation Paper on Media law, wherein she worked on Section 66A of the Information Technology Act 2000. She further co-authored guidelines on accessible publishing in developing and least developed countries.

Julia RAUCH, J.D. Candidate, Bayreuth University

Julia Rauch was born in Amberg, Germany, in 1995, where she spent her childhood and youth. Due to her interest in ancient culture and languages she went to Erasmus-Gymnasium, a humanistic school. She graduated with the best grade achievable. Since October 2013, she has been studying Law at the University of Bayreuth. In 2015, she passed the interim exam (top 5%). Especially international law fascinates her and she enjoys learning foreign languages and studying foreign legal systems. Megan RICHARDSON is Professor of Law at Melbourne Law School, The University of Melbourne. Her fields of research and publication include intellectual property, privacy and personality rights, law reform, and legal theory. She was one of a group of scholars convened by the Australian Law Reform Commission to explore the meaning of ‘privacy’ for its 2006-2008 privacy reference, and in addition served on the international advisory panel for the New South Wales Law Reform Commission’s invasion of privacy review in 2006-2009. She was also a member of the advisory committee for the Australian Law Reform Commission's reference on Serious Invasions of Privacy in the Digital Era (report published 2014). She is currently Co-Director of the Melbourne Law School’s Centre for Media and Communications Law (CMCL) and the Intellectual Property Research Institute of Australia (IPRIA).

Sherif SAADALLAH, Executive Director, WIPO Academy, World Intellectual Property Organization

Sherif Saadallah is the Executive Director of World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Academy and a national of Egypt. He joined WIPO in 1991. He has worked in the Office of the Director General, the Regional Bureau for Arab Countries, the Office of Strategic Use of Intellectual Property for Development, the Department of External Relations, and in 2015, became the Executive Director of the WIPO Academy. Mr. Saadallah previously served as a diplomat with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt and worked in the Permanent Mission of Egypt in Geneva. He is seconded from the Egyptian Foreign Service and holds the title of Ambassador in his national service. He has a B.A. in Economics and Political Sciences from the American University in Cairo, Egypt, and has studied at the Diplomatic Institute for International Studies in Cairo and at the Institut Universitaire des Hautes Études Internationales in Geneva. He speaks Arabic, English, French, and Spanish.

Zahr SAID, Associate Professor and Lead Faculty Director, Center for Advanced Research and Studies on Innovation Policy (CASRIP), School of Law, University of Washington

Professor Zahr Said is an Associate Professor of Law and Lead Faculty Director of CASRIP (the Center for Advanced Study and Research in Innovation Policy). Said’s research applies humanistic methods, theories, and texts to problems in legal doctrine and policy. Currently, her research explores jury instructions in copyright litigation as well as emerging IP norms among craft brewers located here in Seattle. Before coming to UW, Said was a Visiting Professor at the University of Virginia School of Law, teaching Law and Literature, and intellectual property seminars. Professor Said earned her B.A. from UC Berkeley (magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa), her J.D. from Columbia (where she served as Articles Editor for the Columbia Journal of Law and the Arts, and was a Kent Scholar) and a Ph.D. in comparative literature from Harvard University. Recent honors include the UW Law Faculty Scholarship Award (2015), the Philip A. Trautman 1L Professor of the Year Award (2016), and election as AALS IP Section Chair (2015). She is the Vice President of the Board of Directors of Yoga Behind Bars, a local non-profit dedicated to bringing yoga and meditation classes to the incarcerated population of Washington State.

Prof. Dr. Agus Sardjono is a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia. He specializes in Commercial Law & IP Law. His primary area of research is Indonesian Business Law & Intellectual Property Law, an area in which he has been actively involved since 1989. Dr Arul George Scaria is a Co-Director of the Centre for Innovation, Intellectual Property and

Competition (CIIPC) and Assistant Professor of Law at National Law University, Delhi. He is also

an Affiliate Faculty of the CopyrightX program, which is a course offered each year from January

to May under the auspices of Harvard Law School, HarvardX distance-learning initiative, and

Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society. His key areas of interest and specialisation are

Open Science, Innovation, Intellectual Property Law and Competition Law. Arul did his doctoral

research at International Max Planck Research School for Competition and Innovation, Munich

and post-doctoral research at Catholic University of Louvain (UCL), Belgium. Arul has also

Farzaneh Shakeri is a Ph.D. graduate in Private and Islamic Law from the University of Tehran where she also did her LL.M. and LL.B. in 2010 and 2007 respectively. She completed her Master 2 in droit bancaire et financier at Université de Strasbourg in 2013 and obtained her M.A. in Transnational Trade Law and Finance from Universidad de Deusto (Spain) and Universiteit van Tilburg (the Netherlands). Farzaneh is a qualified attorney in Iran and has some years of practical experience as a member of the Iranian Central Bar Association. She is also a former lecturer of few universities in Iran. Withoon TALOODKUM, Vice Dean, University of Phayao

After graduating with a LL.B. degree (1st Hons), from Chiang Mai University, Withoon practiced in Bangkok and completed a LL.M. with a good thesis in public law, from Chulalongkorn University. In 2009, he then became a law lecturer at School of law, University of Phayao, Thailand. His main academic work is focused on teaching and research towards ensuring social and economic justice. He teaches administrative law, taxation law, public economic law and patent law. Daren TANG, Chief Executive, Intellectual Property Office of Singapore

Daren Tang is the Chief Executive of IPOS. Prior to his appointment in 2015, Mr. Tang was IPOS’ Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) and helmed the Registries Cluster which was responsible for the development and operationalisation of Singapore’s IP regulatory framework. He oversaw the republic’s IP policy and legal regime development, and is currently co-leading major reviews of its copyright and design regimes. Mr. Tang represented Singapore in international IP negotiations with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). He also chaired the IP negotiations in major Free Trade Agreements, such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement, and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement. Formerly, he was a Senior State Counsel with the Attorney-General’s Chambers, where he led services negotiations in the US-Singapore FTA, and was part of the legal team that argued Singapore’s case before the International Court of Justice relating to the sovereignty of Pedra Branca. Mr. Tang holds a LL.B (2nd Upper, Hons) from the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore, and an LL.M (with distinction) from the Georgetown University Law Centre, where he was also a Fellow of the Institute of International Economic Law. He attended the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program in 2013.

Antony TAUBMAN, Director, Intellectual Property Division, Word Trade Organization

Antony Taubman has served since 2009 as Director of the WTO's Intellectual Property, Government Procurement and Competition Division. From 2002 to 2009, he directed the Global Intellectual Property Issues Division of WIPO (including the Traditional Knowledge Division and Life Sciences Program), covering IP and genetic resources, traditional knowledge and folklore, the life sciences, and related global issues including public health and climate, the environment, climate change, human rights, food security, bioethics and indigenous issues. A diplomatic career with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) concluded with service as Director, International Intellectual Property, engaged in multilateral and bilateral negotiations on IP issues, domestic policy development, regional cooperation, and TRIPS dispute settlement. Earlier service included disarmament policy and participation in the negotiations on the Chemical Weapons Convention, and postings to the Australian Embassy in Tehran as Deputy Head of Mission, and to the Hague as Alternate Representative to the Preparatory Commission for the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons and Chair of the Expert Group on Confidentiality. In 2001, he joined the Australian Centre for Intellectual Property in Agriculture and the College of Law at the Australian National University, teaching and researching on international IP law. He has held postgraduate teaching appointments at several universities including at the University of Melbourne, the Queensland University of Technology and the University of Edinburgh, and contributes to many other educational and training programs. In 2008, the Rockefeller Foundation awarded him a Bellagio residential fellowship for his work on TRIPS and public policy issues. He has authored numerous publications on the TRIPS Agreement and international IP law and policy and cognate policy fields.

Saliltorn THONGMEENSUK, PhD Candidate, Faculty of Law, Nagoya University

Originally from Thailand, Saliltorn Thongmeensuk is currently a member of the LL.D. program for leading graduate school, Nagoya University, under the research grant provided by the Mongbukagakusho (MEXT). Since 2002, Tran Van Nam participated in the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) as an international arbitrator, practicing trade law and intellectual property law.

Saurabh VISHNUBHAKAT, School of Law, Texas A&M University

Saurabh Vishnubhakat is an associate professor at the Texas A&M University School of Law. He is also an associate professor in the Texas A&M College of Engineering and a fellow at the Duke Law Center for Innovation Policy. His research and teaching interests are in intellectual property law, civil procedure, and administrative law, particularly from an empirical perspective. He was previously a faculty fellow at Duke Law School, where he co-taught patent law, and began his career as a legal advisor in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, where he counseled the agency’s first two chief economists on IP law and policy. He holds a B.S. degree in biochemistry from Georgia Tech and J.D. and LL.M. degrees from the Franklin Pierce Law Center.

Heng Wang is associate professor at the Faculty of Law, University of New South Wales, and adjunct professor at Southwest University of Political Science and Law. He has spoken at the WTO Headquarters and over 40 universities in America, Europe and Asia, including Harvard University, New York University, Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Virginia, the LSE and University of Paris 1. As a visiting professor, he taught at University of Ottawa, Case Western Reserve University, Yokohama National University and Xiamen University. He conducted research at the WTO Secretariat, and was the Max Weber Fellow at European University Institute. He published widely in journals including the Journal of World Trade and Cornell International Law Journal, and his research was quoted by scholars including those from Oxford University and the Max Planck Institute. Heng was an Executive Council member of the Society of International Economic Law, and is a founding member of the Asian International Economic Law Network, a member of the Asian WTO Research Network, as well as an executive council member of all three Chinese societies of international economic law or WTO law. He has been the recipient of top research awards and several major grants in China.

John Szu-Yuan WANG, Assistant Professor, Shih Hsin University

Szu-Yuan Wang obtained his LLB degree from National Taiwan University. He later attended an LL.M program in Roman law and European legal history at the University of Glasgow. He holds a Ph.D degree from Newcastle University. His thesis examined the theoretical foundation of intellectual property and explored the possible location of geographical indications in the IP territory. He has been a member of the Ius Commune Research School since 2008. Dr. Wang is currently serving as Assistant Professor at Shih Hsin University, Taiwan. He teaches intellectual property law, company law, legal English, and International Honorary Program, a program specifically designed for international students. He has broad research interests, ranging from intellectual property law, law and economics, cultural property law, traditional and indigenous knowledge protection, and legal history.

Richard Li-dar Wang is Associate Professor of Law at National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan. He serves as an affiliated faculty member in the Center for Intellectual Property Research, Indiana University Maurer School of Law, and a trustee both for Patent Search Center and Taiwan Competition Law Institute. Prof. Wang accomplished his S.J.D. degree in Indiana –Maurer in 2007, and is also a graduate of Georgetown Law Center (LL.M. 2004). His academic interest lies primarily in antitrust law and patent law. He teaches internet law and regulated industries as well. Prof. Wang has already published 30 articles in English or Chinese, some of them on leading law journals such as Yale Journal of Law and Technology and Santa Clara High Technology Law Journal. He is a nine-times recipient of Ministry of Science and Technology research grants in Taiwan, and was the executive editor of Technology Law Review (in Chinese) between 2007 and 2009. Prof. Wang is a frequent presenter in major IP and competition law conferences. In 2013, he was invited to deliver an address in the 23rd Anniversary International Conference of the Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI), and to give a speech on patent law before judges and technical examiners in Taiwan Intellectual Property Court. Prior to academia, Prof. Wang worked for the Taiwan Fair Trade Commission. He investigated anticompetitive practices in the petroleum and pharmaceutical sectors, and unfair business acts across industries. He later became a consultant to the Vice Chairperson of the Commission, advising him on legal and policy matters.

M. Afzal WANI, Professor and Dean, University School of Law and Legal Studies, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University

Prof. M.Afzal Wani is former Member, Law Commission of India from 2009-2012. He has more than 30 years of teaching and research experience. He initiated a specialised LL.M. and Ph.D. proramme in IPR in University School of Legal Studies of GGS IP University, Delhi. He has tremendous interest in legal aid activities and is regularly conducting legal literacy camps in various localities within and outside Delhi. He is a Member of Delhi State Legal Services Authority since 2005 and is regularly training legal aid lawyers and para legal volunteers. He served as Coordinator for the Rule of Law Project of USAID to build the capacity of Legal and Juristic departments of Afghanistan including training of Law Ministry officials, Higher and lower judicial officers, and law professors of the Afghan universities. Prof. Wani is known for training over hundreds of Law Teachers through Refresher Courses funded by University Grants Commission of India and other university schemes. Prof. M.Afzal Wani has presented research papers in scores of conferences etc. in India and Broad including Stanford University (US) and Oxford University (UK), George Town(Penang)-Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu-Nepal, Bangkok-Thailand and Kabul-Afghanistan. Presently, he is conducting a survey on traditional art and artisanship with IPR perspective.

Etsuko YOSHIDA, Research Fellow, Intellectual Property Center, Osaka University

Etsuko Yoshida is currently a Research Fellow at Intellectual Property Center Osaka University. She is also a collaborative researcher with the Research Center for Drug Discovery and Pharmaceutical Science in Ritsumeikan University. Her main field is Intellectual Property law, especially the Comparative study of industrial property and patent law. She received a Masters of law from Osaka University. She also received an academia fellowship 2014 from the Institute of Intellectual Property (Japan) to conduct research on patent eligibility in particular computer implemented inventions.

Dr. Yu, Xiang is a full professor at the School of Management (2002-) and the Director of Chinese-German Institute for Intellectual Property (http://patent.hust.edu.cn/, 2005-) at Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST, http://www.hust.edu.cn/) in Wuhan, China. His main research fields include Intellectual Property and International Trade, Patent Strategy and Technological Innovation, Licensing and Technology Transfer. He is the Director of the Chinese IP Team for the US-China CERC Project (http://www.us-china-cerc.org/, 2011- ), and the Director of the Chinese IP Team for the China-EU/EEA NZEC-CCS Project (2013- ). Prof. Dr. Zhang Weijun earned his Bachelor Degree of Law in Peking University, Master Degree of Law in Shanghai University, and Doctor Degree of Management in School of Economics & Management of Tongji University. He was the visiting scholar in Max Plank Institute for Intellectual Property Law, Competition Law and Tax Law (Max Plank Institute for Innovation and Competition from Jan. 2014 ) in 2006, 2014 and 2015.
