“SILVER COLLEGE” The Silver College is a unit at university body which respectful and plan, organizing, actuating, and controlling active ageing activities in the university, coordination with local or international government in order to support mainly the achievment programs of the National and Local Commision for older persons (Komnas and Komda Lansia)

“SILVER COLLEGE” OBJECTIVES The Main objective of "Silver College" is to provide a place or media to communicate and to increase the role and welfare of the elderly community.

Specific objective of Silver College is: • Conduct identification and assessment of elderly interest to

have a role in development of family and community, and indication of their interests;

• Designing curriculum and continuous training to develop capacity/self-capacity for elderly through the concept of “life-long learning education”;

• Designing and implementation of pilot institutions to provide capabilities for elderly;

• Provide motivation, guidance and facilitation for elderly in empowerment especially facilitating the initiation of elderly groups through the empowerment posts.

• Dissemination of information and experience (best practices) and activities to increase their ability in family and community development.

Silver College hopes the elderly will: • Continue learning and be happily

active for themselves and others. • Use science and knowledge for

others. • Preserve local culture to be

transferred to the younger generation.

• Maintain health and activity through group forums

management • Health and fitness in old age • Elderly empowerment • Second opportunity in economy and social

affairs • Second career • Special sessions based on interest

BROAD GUIDELINES OF “SILVER COLLEGE” 2. Skills training Training is based on interest and substance such as: • Catering and cafeteria; • Investment and commerce; • Refreshing of professionals: Law/Legal,

Accountancy; Medical/paramedical, Consultant, Counseling and education.

PARTICIPANTS OF “SILVER COLLEGE” “Silver College” can be attended by IPB retirees or those aged 65+ years. They should not be afraid and have desire to guide their family and community towards improvement of their health status.

SEVERAL IPB “SILVER COLLEGE” ACTIVITIES In its development Silver College has been accepted as a body to conduct joint activities with other elderly institutions. In the last 3 years, Silver College has existed both inside and outside of IPB. • Inside IPB, it has been organized in cooperation with PPP-

IPB, WULAN-Agrianita within IPB • Outside IPB, Silver College has an active role cooperating

with NCOP, CAS-UI, LLI, Pepabri, PUSAKA, YayasanEmongLansia, Senior Club Indonesia and government agencies such as BKKBN, MOSA,also active in National and International Older Person Day since 2010 up to now

EMPOWERMENT POSTS TARGET OF IPB ‘SILVER COLLEGE”

100 Empowerment posts are facilitated by IPB in Bogor regency, Bogor city, Cianjurregency and Sukabumi regency. Initially, the main target of empowerment by IPB “Silver College” were 17 posts in the IPB campus.
