4- Equipment Configuration (2/5)First step : Write NE name (normally the site name), then click [Next].4- Equipment Configuration (3/5)Second step : Define the cards that will be used or simply click [Auto Detect], then click [Next].

4- Equipment Configuration (4/5)Third step : If the required configuration is 1+1 or XPIC, use the checkboxes to define thegroups, thenclick[Next].

4- Equipment Configuration (5/5)A confirmation screen comes with the changes colored. Check that you did the right config., thenclick[OK].11- Cross Connect Setting (1/2)Navigate to Provisioning.Navigate to E1/STM-1 CrossConnect Setting.Choose Cross Connect Setting.Click [Add].

12- Synchronization (1/3)Navigate to Provisioning.Navigate to Equipment Clock/Synchronization.Choose Equipment Clock Setting. The default setting is (Master). If youneed to change, click [Modify].

13- Firmware upgrade (1/5)Some features will not work until theF/W is upgraded.Activate Maintenance mode byclicking Maintenance button.Navigate to Equipment Utility.Choose Update (Storage->NE) Utility.Click [Execute].

Activate MAINTmode here14- License Key Setup (1/2)Some features require license to be used.Navigate to S/W License Setup.Choose ImportLicense Key.Click [Setup].

15- Current Metering (1/2)To view the current Tx level, Rx level & modulation schemes, navigate to Metering.Choose Current Metering. The shown figures will remain unchanged. If you need to seeupdated values, click theMODEM ofthe requireddirection.

16- Remote AccessTo access another IDU remotely, click the drop list located beside MAINT button.A list of far end IDUs will be dropped, choose the one you need & click on it.Use the same User Name & Password to access remotely to the far end.

7- MODEM Port Setting (1/2)Navigate to Provisioning.Navigate to MODEM FunctionSetting.Choose MODEM Port Setting.Click on the MODEM that you want torename.

7- MODEM Port Setting (2/2)Set the name of the MODEM port (normally direction name). This step will not actually affect the transmission process, but just used to differentiate among direction.Click [OK].8- Tx Power Setting (1/2)Navigate to Provisioning.Navigate to MODEM FunctionSetting.Choose Tx Power Setting.Click on the MODEM that you want toset its Tx power value.

8- Tx Power Setting(2/2)Set the Tx power value given in the link design.Click [OK].9- Ethernet Function Setting (1/5)This part will be done only whenEthernet traffic will be loaded.Navigate to Provisioning.Navigate to ETH Function Setting.Choose ETH Port Setting.Click on the port that you want toenable.

9- Ethernet Function Setting (4/5)Open [VLAN Setting] tab.Click on the required port to be set & assign the required VLAN to this port.

Click[OK].9- Ethernet Function Setting (5/5)Access port type is used to assign only one VLAN to the port plus any untagged frames.Trunk port type is used to assign multiple VLANs to the same port & the port will discard untagged frames. If the customer doesnt request special setting, set all ports as Trunk ports.MODEMs are Trunk ports by default & cant be changed.Tunnel port type has some special applications.10- E1 Port Setting (1/2)Navigate to Provisioning.Navigate to E1/STM-1 CrossConnect Setting.Choose E1 Port Setting.Click [Modify].

11- Notes about Cross ConnectNote 1 : In case of working with SDH traffic, use STM-1 level instead of E1 level.Note 2 : If the number of E1s on both edges are not equal, LCT will indicate a mistake from the user.12- Synchronization (2/3)If the link is separated from a synchronized network, set one terminal as Master & the other terminal as Slave which will extract the clock signal from MODEM side.If one terminal is located in MSC or BSC (has a good synch. source), this terminal will be set as Slave which will extract the clock signal from traffic line side & the other terminal will be set as Slave which will extract the clock signal from MODEM side. For other links, set both terminals as Slave which will extract the clock signal from MODEM side.12- Synchronization (3/3-1)To change the CLK mode to Slave type, choose the Combo Box labeled (Slave). For (Clock Source Selective Mode), choose PL mode.In the (Timing Source) field, choose to extract the clock signal from MODEM side or traffic line side asrequired.

To be continued12- Synchronization (3/3-2)Set the right slot in which the source is located & for E1 extracted clock, set the required channel number as well (normally decided by the customer).Set priority, then click [OK].Hint : RemoveExternal Clockif not requiredto cancel itsalarm.
