MISSION STATEMENT 4-H EMPOWERS YOUTH TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL, WORKING AND

LEARNING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CARING ADULTS.

Clover Kids Pre-Fair Workshop There are many opportunities for Clover Kids to showcase

their skills at the county fair! Clover Kids members can share 2

exhibit building projects on July 20th from 9-11 a.m. under the

shelter house in the campgrounds. These projects are then

showcased in the exhibit building throughout the fair. They

can also show their pets or stuffed animals in the Pet Show to

be held on Sunday, July 28th! In addition, Clover Kids are

welcome to enter any open classes—there are even some

livestock classes specific to the Clover Kids age group! To see a

complete list of class offerings, please reference the 2019

Warren County Fair Book found under the “Participate,” tab at

www.warrencofair.com

To prepare for county fair, the Clover Kids Leaders are hosting

a Clover Kids Pre-Fair Workshop on Thursday, June 27th

starting at 6 p.m. at the Warren County Extension office, 200

W. 2nd Ave, Indianola.

At this workshop, Clover Kids will have the opportunity to

prepare for fair judging and create a project that they can

showcase at the fair! We encourage all participants to bring a

stuffed animal to practice answering questions for the pet

show. This will also be a great opportunity for parents to ask

questions regarding the Warren County Fair. We welcome all

new and returning Clover Kids families to join us for a

fun-filled evening!

Rabbit Workshop

Clothing and Communications Judging– July 11th

Warren County Fair Herdsmanship Join us at the NEW Extension office on Thursday, June 6th,

from 6:00– 7:30pm for an evening of getting rabbits ready for

the Warren County Fair! Please use the East Door. We will

discuss showing at the fair, grooming tips and techniques, and

how to fill out fair entry forms. There will be stations for

trimming nails, tattooing, showmanship, and carrier building.

If your rabbits do not have the required tattoo, now is the

time to get it! The workshop is free but there is a fee for the

carrier building station. If you wish to build a carrier, please

RSVP to the Extension office at 515-961-6237 by May 30th to

ensure the supply company has adequate materials.

Warren County 4-H Herdsmanship is judged by a group of

Senior 4-H members every evening during county fair. Judges

walk through all livestock and animal barns to judge each club

on their club pride, theme decorations, and cleanliness of stall

and tack areas. Each club’s points are then recorded on the

leader board located in the 4-H Exhibit Building. The winner

will be announced during 4-H Family Night on Sunday, July

28th. The winning club earns bragging rights and the honor of

having their name placed on the Herdsmanship Plaque

hanging in the Extension office. We hope everyone will take

pride in the presentation of the Warren County Fair grounds

by competing to be the best Herdsman in the county!

The clothing and communications events will be judged on

Thursday July 11th at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 210 H63

Hwy, Indianola. Juniors will have the opportunity to be judged

in the morning, while Intermediates and Seniors will hold

afternoon judging times for all project areas. Exact judging

times will be assigned following Fair Entry Week.

The following events will be judged on this day: Educational

Presentations, Extemporaneous Speaking, $15 Clothing

Challenge, Clothing Selection, and Fashion Revue. Sign up for

these events is not open until Fair Entry Week, June 17-22nd,

but we encourage you to start your planning for these project

areas now! Not sure what communications and clothing

project areas entail? No problem! Check out our website to

learn more: https://www.extension.iastate.edu/warren/

content/warren-county-fair-information

You can also contact Logan to learn more about these unique
