Letters

Presidents Letter:

Our last two shoots of the year are over, and as usual Dyersville Sportsman's Club and Waltonian Archers of Linn County did an excellent job. At our membership meeting at State Field, nominations were taken for new board members. Nominations were open for President, first Vice President, second Vice President, and Treasure. NFAA Representative is a two year term and that is done on odd years, so Ron Sykora will continue to fill that position. We also needed a volunteer for the Secretaries position, that position is appointed by the president. The new slate of officers that will take office on October 1st are, President Spenser Bretch, 1st Vice President Britt Osborn, 2nd Vice President Steven Myer. I would like to personally thank those three individuals for stepping up and filling those positions. No one would accept the nomination for Treasure and we did not have a volunteer to fill the Secretaries position. If any of our members have skills in those areas and would be willing to serve on the Board please contact me or one of our new board members. This will be my last Presidents Letter, I would like to thank all those people who have supported me the last four years, I am proud of what we have accomplished. I'm looking forward to the future of the Iowa State Archery Association and the Iowa ProAm under the leadership of these new Board Members. I wish them the best of luck! Our fall board meeting will be held in Marshalltown somewhere around the middle of September. At that time we will be reviewing shoot dates and club bids. I will get exact dates and times out to all clubs.

Sincerely, Ken Sharp

Editors Letter:

Hello Everyone!! Hope your summer has been going well!! I am going to start something new with the Arrow Hound. I will be asking one club for every issue of the Arrow Hound to write an article with pictures on how their club is going, news, and anything new going on. The first club is Waltonian Archers of Linn County. The President of Waltonian Archers, Rick Rogers, wrote this article for me. For the next Arrow Hound in October, I will have a different club write an article for me with pictures, and I would also love to hear from you guys!!!! So please send me any pictures you have, big tournaments you went to and anything else you would like to share!! I would love that:) Good luck at your upcoming shoots!!!

Sincerely, Amber Witt

Scholarship Thank You Letters

From Molly Veith:

Dear Iowa State Archery Association,

I cannot thank you enough for selecting me as a recipient of this year’s Iowa

State Archery Association scholarship. I will be attending St. Ambrose University in

Davenport, IA this fall to pursue a bachelor of science degree in nursing. Archery has

been an enormous part of my life ever since I was little and could barely pull back the

string. Since then, I have competed in many competitions and have met so many

incredible people.

There is much more to the sport we have all come to know and love than one

would expect. Archery inspires the drive to always do better, concentration on what you

aim for, passion for what you do, confidence you never knew you had, along with many

other qualities. These things can be applied to not only archery, but everyday life.

Memories that will last a lifetime are made with the friends you will never forget. As Fred

Bear once said, “Nothing clears a troubled mind better than shooting a bow.”

From Hunter Tuveson:

I would like to start off by thanking the scholarship committee and the entire Iowa

state archery association for choosing me to be a recipient of this scholarship. This is a

great financial benefit and will help me very much for the upcoming school year. I will be

attending Minnesota State University, Mankato for my third year to study Athletic

Training. This has just been one example of how the ISAA has helped and supported

me through out my years in archery and I am very proud and grateful to be apart of this

organization. Once again, thank you very much.

Arrow Hound July July 12, 2016

It’s been a daunting task keeping up with 80 acres that we

are solely responsible for, but we are hoping that the

younger generation begins to take on more

responsibilities as us older folks start slowing down. To

ensure our clubs across the nation are available for

generations to come, we really need to encourage more

participation and empowerment with our younger archers.

We are doing pretty decent on most of our indoor and

outdoor shoots; in fact, we were at full-capacity at the

recent State Outdoor Target shoot! Shoot straight and be

safe!

– Rick Rogers, Waltonian Archers of Linn County,

President.
