WHO IS THE cOurSE INTENdEd FOr?Managers and supervisors in any sector and any organisation.
It is designed to give managers all they need to know to help them handle health and safety in their teams. This new and flexible high impact programme covers all the main health and safety issues, and also includes a session on tackling environmental management. The course focuses on best practice rather than legislation, so is suitable for candidates from around the world, and not just those from the UK.
The aim of the course is to provide you with sufficient knowledge to be able to manage practical health and safety issues in the workplace.

QuALIFIcATION ANd cErTIFIcATIONUpon completion of the course, delegates who go on to successfully complete both the practical and written assessments will be awarded a certificate from the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Please note that the practical assessment, which involves thecompletionofahazardspotting/riskassessmentdocument in the student’s chosen workplace, must be submitted within two weeks of completing the course. The written assessment is a multiple choice ‘exam’ carried out on-line at a time convenient to you.

• Identify your responsibilities for health and safety
• Explainthereasonsforpreventing workplace accidents and occupational ill health
• Identify common hazards including those associated with entrances and exits, work traffic, fire, chemicals, electricity, physical and verbal abuse, bullying, stress, noise, housekeeping and the working environment, slips, trips and falls, working at height, computers and manual handling
• Define ‘hazard’, ‘risk’ and ‘risk assessment’• Carry out a risk assessment• Identify the best techniques to control key risks• Identify the demands of the law and how the legal
system works
• Describe a health and safety management system• Identify why and how accidents should be
investigated• Outline basic performance indicators for monitoring
activities
• Outline the requirements for the control of waste and pollution
