INTRODUCTION WEEK
SOCIAL PACKAGE
The Introduction Week Social Package is the
evening activity program in week 35 (August 27 –
September 1) and is the social supplement to the
mandatory daytime activities. As it is a package
deal the events will not be available for separate
purchase.
If you purchase the Introduction Week Social
Package, you will receive a blue bracelet after
your arrival in Copenhagen, which will be your
entrance pass to all the events throughout the
week. The bracelet pick-up will take place
Monday, August 27 from 12:30-14:30 in front of the
Library at Solbjerg Plads.

This will be a unique opportunity for you to
get to know your fellow exchange students.
This event is an organized form of “meet ‘n’ mingle”
which focuses on meeting a lot of people in a short period of
time. You will have a face-to-face conversation with one
person and move on to another when a signal is given. Each
meeting will last for five minutes.

Sit back, relax and enjoy this one-hour
guided tour through the canals of
Copenhagen. The tour will take you through all
parts of the old city and pass many of the most famous sights,
such as the parliament Christiansborg, the old stock
exchange Børsen, the Opera House, the royal castle
Amalienborg, and of course the world-renowned statue of the
Little Mermaid.

Make a right onto Vingårdstræde (250

Time after time, Danish Folk Dancing is the
event in the Exchange Social Program which
gets the best feedback. Most of the dances are
from around 1780-1880, and were originally danced by
farmers and poor people. The dances will be danced at a
level so that everyone can participate. A professional folk
dancing group will teach you the steps accompanied by a
live orchestra. This is not to be missed!

After the Danish Folk Dancing lesson and
Canal Tour a party has been arranged for
you at one of the most famous night clubs in
Copenhagen, Søpavillonen. Søpavillonen is located on the
shore of the lake Peblingesø in the center of Copenhagen.
The night club is exclusively reserved for the Introduction
Week Social Package participants.

right onto Rosenørns Allé (350 meters).

After the Buddy Dinners a party has been
arranged for you at the night club Park. Park
is located in the area of Copenhagen called
Østerbro. The club is exclusively reserved for the Introduction
Week Social Package participants.

DIRECTIONS: Take the metro to Nørreport Station. Take
bus number 14 (final stop Klampenborg
Station). Get off at Gustav Adolfs Gade
(fifth stop).

This will be a relaxing evening with a great
Danish movie with English subtitles. The
comedy “Blinkende Lygter” (Flickering Lights) from
2000 will be shown. The plot is as follows: Torkild is the head of
a small gang, pulling small jobs for a gangster known as the
“Eskimo”. After his 40th birthday and a botched heist
involving 4 million DKK, Torkild and his gang are forced to
hide out in an abandoned inn in the middle of nowhere. The
gang has to wait only until Peter, who was shot, is well enough
to travel, so they can continue on to Barcelona. But after
meeting some of the locals and finding moments of peace in
this secluded hideaway, Torkild convinces the rest of the
gang that staying may be the future for
which they are all looking. The gang
uses the money to buy the inn and turn
it into a restaurant. However they
cannot avoid getting caught up by
their pasts.

The formal welcome dinner is the big finale of
the two introductory weeks. So put on your
best 20s/30s dress, bring your dance shoes, and
join the greatest swing party ever! A welcome drink and a
delicious three-course menu will be served. After the dinner
the Chris Tanner band and the dancers “Per Rock" and "Just
Joan" will start the party with some swing/jazz thereafter a DJ
will take over. This will be an unforgettable night!
