HAY PUBLIC SCHOOL

P&C Meeting 11th May 2017 Principal’s Report

School Matters:

Current enrolment = 198 Currently we are calling for names for Ready Set Kinder, which will start next term in

Education Week. Please advise the front office if you know of any students due to start school in 2018.

Front office staff is Judy Callaghan – 3 days per week and Joanne Dunn – 5 days per week

NAPLAN – Testing was completed this week. Results are back in August. Trials will be held this year to shift NAPLAN to an online test. We will be involved in this.

Front office staff, including the Principal, are currently undertaking extensive training in LMBR (Learning Management Business Reforms) this term. Cate Gaston is relieving in the front office for the days of training. This is a new system of school’s finance, student management and strategic budgeting and supports the Local Schools, Local Decisions initiative that is currently in place.

Federal budget indicates that our current level of funding should be increased over the next few years. The state government has committed to continuing to fund schools based on the level of need. This is a positive for Hay Public School.

Early Action for Success – Teachers in Stage 1 are continuing to train in L3 (Language, Literacy and Learning). Benchmarks are being monitored closely every 5 weeks. Sue Murphy, our Instructional Leader, is receiving support in her role from at a district, regional and a state level. This is a positive for Hay Public School.

Capital Works K-2 playground area has been designed with our GA and Garden Specialist doing most of

the work. Garden classes have also incorporated this into weekly sessions.
