Introduction:Training Student Trainers (TST) is a variation of Steve Smith and Ying Kai's

book T4T A Discipleship ReRevolution, the story behind the world's fastest growing Church Planting Movement and how it can happen in your community!

Some of our time during the first session will be used to explain our purpose and plan for accomplishing it. Our purpose is to Train Student Trainers.

Within each six part training session, the Brief Discipleship Lesson uses the Checkpoints described in Andy Stanley and Stuart Hall's book, The Seven Checkpoints Every Teenager Needs to Know.

The process in TST has been revised to target the student environment and culture. If used successfully, the process will initiate a sustaining Christian discipleship movement across entire school campuses as well as students' siblings, parents and teachers.

Unlike typical discipleship training, this process focuses on student leaders that will continue discipling another generation, that will in turn disciple additional generations like Paul instructed Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2.

An adult facilitator of a TST movement must be willing to share or turn over the process to student leaders. Weekly Biblical challenges or visions will be cast to a Core of Christian students, goals will be agreed upon for the following week and they will be held accountable for the fulfillment of those goals at the following session.

The Process:To launch a TST movement, great care must be given to the selection of a

small Core of no more than six to eight Christian students. If the ultimate target is for a High School, then High School Christians should be chosen. If the initial target is for an Intermediate school, then Intermediate School Christians should be chosen. If possible, do not limit the selection to a single Christian denomination.

The introductory session must confirm that the Core is made up of students with Authentic Faith. Make sure they are experiencing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ rather than just having knowledge about Jesus. If such a Core cannot be identified that will commit to bringing a spiritual revolution to their school, then select a smaller Core that is willing to be discipled to the point that they will practice daily communion with Christ. Be very selective about adding additional students to this initial Core though some of their close Christian friends may ask to join.

Though they may not be accustomed to leading in group prayer, ask them to each pray for their schools. Prompt them about specific prayer items such as students, teachers, etc.

Following a student led Opening Prayer, each will be asked to briefly share how they are doing spiritually.

From this time of sharing, each student will be provided a sheet on which to briefly write their story about how their lives have changed since they have placed faith in Christ. This must be very brief; one or two sentences at most. Provide them with some examples of personal stories.

The third part of each session will be a time of Accountability. Accountability time will start with the second session. Goals for the week will be

set at the end of each session. The students must be made aware that they will expected to share the results of accomplishing their goals at the next meeting.

The fourth part of each session will be a brief time of Vision Casting during which

each student will be assured that they can accomplish great things in God's Kingdom. Vision casting will be supported by Bible promises.

Emphasis will be given to the student's dependence on Jesus' Spirit in their spirit to accomplish TST goals.

The fifth part of each TST session will be to teach a very brief Discipleship Lesson. During the first session, this lesson will be on authentic faith. The

students must be positively sure that they are Christians.

The sixth and final part of each session is Goal Setting and prayer. Specific goals will be set for the following week. These goals are designed to apply Biblical principles This is the experimental laboratory phase of TST to put into

action the principles taught in the classroom. We will constantly be looking to identify Christian student leaders. They will be given additional training and responsibilities.

The Content of The Process:The substance of what is communicated to students is the focus of TST.

Early in the process, each Core member must be assured of his/her salvation in Christ and taught how to effectively strengthen their faith by practicing daily Christian disciplines such as Bible study, prayer, fasting, journaling, and sharing with others.

Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not onto your understanding, acknowledge Him in all your ways and He will direct your life. Proverbs 3:3-6

The second session should move the Core up to practicing daily Christian disciplines like Bible study, prayer, journaling and sharing the results of their disciplines with the Core.

Emphasis will be repeated that the purpose of TST is not to grow a large assembly of students but to Train a Core of Student Trainers.

You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Sameria, and the utter parts of the world. Acts 1:8

The third series of sessions will emphasize the importance of establishing and remaining within Moral Boundaries. The particular emphasis of these sessions will be adjusted to the age of the Core. Two meetings are recommended for the

session on Moral Boundaries. I can do all things through

Christ who strengthens me.An adult male should teach the

boy students and a female adult should teach the girl students.

Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. Luke 9:23

The importance of healthy friendships will be stressed within the fifth

session. The ultimate direction of a student's life is highly influenced by his/her friends. The Bible instructs us to be in the world to influence others for Christ but to not be of the world by yielding to its temptations.. Jesus said, "Follow me and I'll make you fishers of men." Matthew 4:19

Wise choices will be the emphasis of the sixth session. Wise choices are more easily made if healthy friendships are maintained.

Where there is no vision, the people perish! Proverbs 29:18

The freedom benefits of living under the authority of parents, teachers, coaches, law enforcement agents, and ultimately God will be the theme of the seventh session.

"All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me." Matthew 28:18

Giving preference to others over self is the eighth and final theme to be

emphasized to the TST Core group. "God demonstrated His love for

us i this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

These weekly goals are high for students unaccustomed to practicing daily discipleship but they are all

attainable if they are willing to give up less important things

The Context for The Process:The context or environment for TST sessions must be attractive and

comfortable for students. Students should influence how their gathering place is decorated and furnished. Objects of a spiritual distraction should be avoided.

The decor of the meeting sessions should support the purpose of making student Disciples of Christ and to identify and encourage Christian student leaders.

The use of attractions such as snacks, ice-breaker games, etc. should be avoided or employed very sparingly to avoid taking valuable time away from the main purpose of TST. The Context for TST should be designed to support the Content which is to develop student Christian leaders who will take their Christian commitment into their schools.

Student Study Bibles and forms for making lists of names know to be away from God, writing My Story,, and writing My Bridge to the Gospel should be made available to each Core member.

The students should be made to realize that they are in an experimental laboratory rather than a class room.

Conclusion:The bar of expectation for TST students is high but not beyond the Biblical

commission to go unto all the world (starting with the school campus) making disciples and teaching others to obey what Christ has taught them. And be assured that this cannot be accomplish without spiritual help. Jesus promised that He would be with us as our helper until the end of the age.
