GDP or SDG? Nudging young leaders towards sustainable economics
IntroductionThis year Nudge is organising the 8th edition of the
Nudge Global Impact Challenge (previously the Nudge
Global Leadership Challenge), the search for the best
young talents from all over the world who want to be
inspired and strengthened in their leadership skills in
sustainability.
Over the years, we see more and more tangible impact in
what we have accomplished with the Challenge and the
ideas and projects it generates. That is why we decided to
focus even more on the impact on people’s lives and
livelihood.
Our 600 alumni form a global network of like-minded
young professionals leaving impact within their
organisations, networks and social environment.
“With our Nudge projects, we aim to change
the lives of a billion people together with
our partners, supporters, and of course the
participants of the Nudge Global Impact
Challenge: the young women and men who
are our future leaders. The Impact Challenge
will help them make the
change for a better world.”

Wild Card Sponsor, what is your investment? By becoming a Wild Card Sponsor you contribute to the personal development of a
talented young professional who is eager to become a leader of the future and a force for
good. In total 90 young professionals will take part in the Challenge, of which 70 will be
company candidates (sponsored by their companies) and 20 candidates who are holders of a
wild card. For the latter, we are looking for wild card sponsors like you.
With your sponsorship, you will give a candidate the opportunity to build on his/her
knowledge and confidence to effectuate a positive and transformational change.
The Nudge Global Impact Challenge is all about young talents who will work towards
changing Business, Society, and Self.
By becoming a Wild Card Sponsor you allow talented professionals, [who do not have the
financial means], to be part of the Challenge by paying their participation fee of €3,300.
The candidates will subsequently pay for their travel costs and accommodation during the
three-day stay in The Netherlands (€500) from 26-28 October 2017.
As a sponsor you will be our guest during the Nudge Summit on Friday 27 October at the
Peace Palace in The Hague. On this evening you will have the opportunity to meet your
sponsored candidate and other future leaders in sustainability.

Challenge focusLeadership, Sustainability and ImpactFacing a multitude of challenges, our world is undergoing drastic changes. Natural
resources are becoming scarce, new technologies are creating new dilemmas and
the call for responsible and courageous leadership is becoming louder than ever
before. Are we entering an era of transformation and can we leave the industrial
revolution behind? If the answer is yes, we need new leaders and new forms of
leadership. How are we going to find these new leaders? Where do we start
searching for them? How do we prepare them for the task ahead?
The Nudge Global Impact Challenge is the start of this search. We will be searching
for the future leaders on a global scale within diverse networks of individuals, leading
organisations (profit and non-profit) and NGOs.
Theme of the ChallengeGDP or SDG? Nudging young leaders towards sustainable economics
The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and what should be done to reach them,
have inspired Nudge to choose this broad theme.
We want to take the participants on an intense journey and help them focus while
they implement their dream: creating impact and realising change.
And inspire them to find the answers to the questions: “How do I implement the
SDGs within my organisation, networks and environment?” “How can I help
transform our world?” And “How can I combine SDGs with economic growth (GDP)?”
What does this Challenge entail? The Nudge Global Impact Challenge is an 8-month development programme (August 2017 –
April 2018) about Leadership, Sustainability and Impact including a three-day life changing
learning experience in the Netherlands for 90 young professionals (23 – 33 yrs) from all over
the world (26, 27 and 28 October 2017).
Selection criteria
Young professionals who want to make a difference. They have
leadership skills and ambition for sustainability. And they
● at least have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
● can be active in any department or field in your organisation;
● are aged 23 – 33 years on the date of registration;
● are fluent in English (verbal and written).
Three-day experience
During the three-day learning experience in October, the immense topics Leadership,
Sustainability and Impact will be presented, discussed, taught, debated about, and turned
upside down in a never before seen format. A true life changing experience including a
challenge. We believe that the 90 young professionals taking part in this programme are real
change makers eager to make our world a better place. We will provide them with the tools
and the network to give them a head start. At the end of day 3 (28 October), 10 finalists will
present their leadership statements. Three winners will then be chosen. They will be ‘Best
Global Young Leaders in Sustainability 2017’ and win an amazing trip organised by Nudge
together with our Reward Partner (see under The prize). For a first impression of the
Challenge, follow this link to the visual story of the Nudge Global Impact Challenge 2016.
Venue: Woudschoten Hotel and Conference Centre in Zeist, The Netherlands
Pre-Challenge assignments
Participants will start working on their pre-Challenge assignments
(a sustainability impact plan and a leadership capacity assessment)
two months before the Challenge (August - October 2017). During
this preparation phase influencers (including top management)
within their organisations, networks and environment will be
involved.
In the six months after the Challenge (November 2017 - April 2018)
the participants will work on the realisation of their impact plans.
Nudge and programme partner LeaderScope will support them in
this.
The prize
The three winners of the Nudge Global Impact Challenge 2017 will
have the opportunity to work collaboratively on a global project in
the first half of 2018. Nudge and the Reward Partner of the
Challenge will organise an exciting opportunity whereby their
leadership skills and personal development will be strengthened
even further.
In February this year, the 2016 winners travelled to Kenya with
MasterPeace to work together with the Maasai on a water supply
project. The winners of the 2015 Challenge made a journey along
the fair production chain of Tony's Chocolonely in Ghana and Ivory
Coast in May 2016. Their goal: help strengthen Tony’s Chocolonely’s
mission: start a movement to stimulate multinationals and
consumers to choose for honest, slave free products.
