•LEADAlabama (LA) will become the new educational leader evaluation system for LEA use effective August 1, 2012.

•LA will replace the existing PEPE program for school leaders. School system superintendents will be evaluated by the local school board.

•LA implementation is for all administrative, certificated leaders currently evaluated by PEPE such as central office personnel, principals, assistant principals and specialty building-level administrators such as instructional, improvement and program specialists.

The LEADAlabama Development Committee’s recommendations for development were used to guide the develop process of the formative evaluation system.

A principle concern of the development committee:

LA and the assessments conducted during the LA process must be contextualized to specific situations, and the primary focus of LA needs to be individual growth.
