INTRODUCING CE
SERIES WITH
CUMMINS ISB6.7
OVERVIEW
1. Introducing the Cummins ISB6.7
2. Cummins ISB6.7 Features, Technology and Enhancements
3. The CE Engine Portfolio
INTRODUCING THE CUMMINS ISB6.7
What do you get when you take the industry’s best
selling medium-duty diesel engine and the most
popular conventional-style bus over the past
decade? A product that raises the bar.
A time-tested design that features the Cummins
SCR after-treatment system, the CE Series with
Cummins ISB6.7 will offer the durability and uptime
you demand while meeting EPA 2010 emissions.
As Cummins ISB6.7 joins an engine line-up that
includes the MaxxForce 7 and DT, IC Bus now
offers the widest choice of diesel powertrain
options in the bus industry.
BLUE DIAMOND JOINT VENTURE
Through our Blue Diamond JV, Navistar has extensive experience
designing and building trucks with the Cummins ISB6.7 Engine.
The Ford F650/750 Trucks, for which we have built over 20,000 units,
share a common chassis with the Navistar DuraStar truck Model.
This experience has enabled us to minimize the amount of time it took to
bring the ISB6.7 to market in the CE Series Bus. Customer’s can feel
confident that quality and performance will be top notch at Job 1.
These trucks are surpassing warranty and quality objectives and we
expect the same results with the CE Series.
CUMMINS ISB6.7 FEATURES,
TECHNOLOGY &
ENHANCEMENTS
MAJOR FEATURES
VGT™ Turbocharger
The patented design is widely recognized as the industry leader for
performance. Electric actuation improves precision and responsiveness. The
VGT Turbocharger also increases fuel economy and braking horsepower.
High Pressure Common Rail (HPCR)
Higher injection pressures produce quick throttle response at every rpm.
Optimized timing increases fuel efficiency, lowers emissions and enables
smoother, quieter operation.
Cummins SCR Aftertreatment System
Proprietary system consists of a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and
Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology for near-zero emissions.
Single High-Capacity Electronic
Control Module (ECM)
A single ECM manages the engine and aftertreatment system for
optimum performance and fuel efficiency.
• The 2013 ISB6.7 gets some of the best
fuel economy of any engine in its
class. In 2013, the ISB6.7 gets up to 2
percent better fuel economy versus the
2012 model.
• The addition of an air-intake throttle
makes the Exhaust Gas Recirculation
(EGR) system more efficient, to
increase fuel economy and lower
operating costs.
FUEL ECONOMY
• Better Fuel Economy
– 2013 certification meeting the 2014 fuel efficiency and greenhouse gas standards
– Reduction in parasitic losses
• Better Reliability
– Continuous improvement
– NanoNet filter
• Better Customer Support
– Additional components covered with new Extended Coverage plans
2013 ENHANCEMENTS
BETTER RELIABILITY
A new ECM for the 2013 product controls the DEF
Dosing Valve and helps improve the overall efficiency
and reliability of the Cummins Aftertreatment System.
The VGT Turbocharger, EGR Crossover Tube and EGR
Valve Orientation have all been “on engine”
improvements. The VGT Turbocharger’s actuator has
been improved, the actuator controls the Variable
Geometry portion of the Turbocharger. Improving the
actuator leads to reliability and efficiency improvements
for the ISB6.7.
Another area of improvement of the ISB6.7 has been
with the EGR. The Crossover Tube allows for easier
installation for the OEMS and assists with the EGR flow.
The Valve and Valve orientation also assists with OEM
installation and has an internal seal that prevents water
leaking into the EGR Cooler.

EGR Valve Orientation

BETTER RELIABILITY
There has also been an EGR Crossover Tube routing
change which has lead to improvements in EGR reliability.
The Valve orientation change switched from a vertical
valve to a horizontal valve. There is also an addition of an
internal seal to protect against water intrusion.
The New ECM “2350” incorporates all changes needed to
meet the 2013 OBD requirements. The ECM “2350”
incorporates the DEF Doser Valve controls which helps
improve the reliability of the Cummins Aftertreatment
System.
VGT Turbocharger
BETTER RELIABILITY
Improvements to the
actuator, which controls
the VG section of the
Turbo, leads to improved
reliability.
