Is Owning an RV Right for You?
➢Pros:• Freedom to go when and where you want• See the country at ground level, not 30,000 ft• Experience local culture, food and lifestyle• Having kids and dogs in your travel “home”• Be part of a friendly, close-knit community
➢Cons:• It’s like owning another home –but on wheels• Gas is probably your highest travel expense• Having kids, dogs and gear in tight quarters can
be challenging

➢Resource: Diesel vs Gas RV Buying guide: https://blog.campingworld.com/rv-basics/finding-your-rv/diesel-rv-vs-gas-rv/
➢Diesel Advantages• Best for large RVs• More powerful for heavier loads• Air brakes• With proper maintenance they will “last forever” –and hold value better• Slightly better gas mileage –but diesel fuel is more expensive + DEF additive
➢Diesel Disadvantages• Higher initial investment
• Approx. 30% more
• More expensive to maintain• But service interval is less often
• Will need to have a large truck repair shop• Few Do-It-Yourself maintenance opportunities• Diesel fuel may be harder to find in some areas

Types of RVsDiesel or Gas?
12
➢Gas Advantages• Most are based on a Ford or Chevy cab/truck frame
• Engines are same as large gas powered truck engines
• Parts are readily available
• More Do-It-Yourself opportunities
➢Gas Disadvantages• Not as powerful -less up hill acceleration
• Engine works harder (more wear & tear)
• Poor gas mileage 7-10 mpg
• Not as durable as diesel engines
• More complex because they are based on car/truck engines
