Internship Questions Why did you choose your Degree Subject? I find electronics fascinating and believe it is a subject with ongoing breakthroughs, I wish to be part of these breakthroughs and believe I have the skills to do this. I am determined, hardworking, able to work in a team and keen to learn. Why do you want to work at Mercedes AMG? Mercedes is a highly reputable company, with fast advancing technology I think it would provide a fast paced and challenging learning environment which I would look forward too. The new GLE M-class hybrid shows that just because a car is a fuel efficient doesn't mean it can't compete with its petrol competitors. I would welcome part taking in challenging and innovating projects that Mercedes provide. It would be a fantastic experience to be part of such a prestigious company, I could achieve and deliver working at Mercedes whilst gaining valuable skills. What are your technical strengths and what evidence do you have to support this? I have experience in programs such as Solidworks, Matlab, Dymola, Multisim and Ultiboard. In my programming optional module this year I am using C and Python languages. From working with Engineers Without Borders I have taken workshops in welding and am an active member of the outreach programme, going to schools to teach children about engineering and help them engage in a turbine project, this has helped my presentation and confidence greatly. Last year I took an industrial visit to a Jaguar Land Rover factory and gained knowledge in the production line and manufacturing process of cars. What are your own work values and how will these make you an effective employee?

Why did you choose your Degree Subject? I find electronics fascinating and believe it is a subject with ongoing breakthroughs, I wish to be part of these breakthroughs and believe I have the skills to do this. I am determined, hardworking, able to work in a team and keen to learn. Why do you want to work at Mercedes AMG?Mercedes is a highly reputable company, with fast advancing technology I think it would provide a fast paced and challenging learning environment which I would look forward too.

What are your own work values and how will these make you an effective employee?I am a punctual and motivated worker that is enthusiastic and determined to finish working on a problem until its resolved. I have excellent communication skills and confidence that I have acquired from 3 years of coaching experience and the current outreach programme I participate in. I have great organisation and time managing skills achieved from balancing a part time job and 3 sports teams around university life and its work load. Overall I feel I am a well rounded person that has an innovating and creative way of thinking and actively enjoys taking part in exciting projects. How did you involve with others to ensure success? (Team Working) Last year I took part in designing and making a "Sumo-CAN Robot" Everyone was assigned individual roles within the group. This project required much communicating between each person, insuring the previous step of the design process was essential otherwise the end result could be a faulty product. The project required soldering of electronic components, familiarity of schematic capture and PCB layout, and following through a typical design process to a completed product.Looking back, what did your approach to the above reveal about your strengths and development needs. What would you do differently if faced with the same situation again? (250 words max)I think communication could have been more frequent, there were times when people were unsure of their current role and perhaps more regular meetings should have been arranged to ensure we were on track for our completion date. Tasks were delegated evenly although this did take longer than anticipated to establish these roles between the group. The essay was thorough and each team member contributed their research and findings from their selected area.

Please outline a change or solution you came up with and implemented. Please explain why you felt this change/solution was beneficial. (250 words max)During my full time summer job at Pizza Express the restaurant became extremely busy one summers day. Their was a deal on a free coffee with each dessert. This meant the dessert and coffee station had a huge back log. Myself and my partner working on the dessert and coffee station informed all the waiters of the long wait and got them hold off orders for a while. Meanwhile we established a chain on each tray adding saucers, spoons, desserts, fresh coffee at each stage and then sending them out with a waiter that was stood waiting at the end of it. We also had a waiter fetching more deserts/spoons and cups etc from the back whenever we needed it. This required good team work and organisation the restaurant was soon back to normal and taking orders again.
