Internship Objectives

Student Requirements*
• Junior or Senior standing (60 hours)• Overall GPA: 2.5• English GPA: 3.0• At least one skills English course completed (3303, etc.)• Approval of Professor in Concentration

• Approval of Liberal Arts Adviser (verify requirements)• Approval of Internship Director• Student evaluation of internship experience• Enrollment in English 3312 Internship in English Studies
Employer Requirements
• Initial on-site meeting w/ Internship Director• Agree to intern’s goals and learning objectives• Supervise and mentor intern to achievement of
goals and objectives• Report intern work hours weekly• Evaluate intern at mid-term and end of internship• Meet with student and internship director for mid-
term eval• Direct intern to development of a portfolio project.
Internship Agreement
• Intern’s goals, learning objectives, portfolio project Employer identifies duties and activities to fulfill goals and objectives
• Employer and intern agree on work schedule, term of internship, pay, if any.

English 3312:Internship in English Studies
• Three credit hours• Meets biweekly (1 hour to 75 minutes, in person or virtual)• Student deliverables:
– A journal of work activities/experiences– Weekly time sheets signed by supervisor– Mid-term and end of term eval by supervisor– Project suitable for employment portfolio– Presentation to the class, internship director and interested
